“Great service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 January 2013

This was our second stay at the Threadneedles Hotel taking advantage of a special weekend rate. Although the surrounding area was very quiet it is close to Bank station so is easy to get to the West End. Our room, a deluxe, was very comfortable and clean as was the large bathroom. Staff were outstandingly efficient and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked.
Our only problem was an alarm going off across the street in the middle of the night, not the fault of the hotel who did their best to find someone to turn it off.
We will definitely stay again.

Thank you for returning to Threadneedles.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back again soon.

Apologies again for the alarm opposite the street disturbing you. Thankfully this does not happen all the time.

We stayed for my birthday for one night in earlyJanuary and despite the hotel being virtually empty (didnt see one other guest!) we were given a room above the main road which we didnt realise til about 5am was unbelievably noisy, every bus that went by made the room rattle, needless to say neither of us had any sleep whatsoever which was not helped by the persistant mini bar monitor who knocked once and barged in the second time while we were in bed, despite us only having 11am checkout and having told reception we didnt want disturbing!
The room was a decent size, comfortable bed and opulently decorated but there ends my positive comments. The bedside table and lamps were thick with dust, i ran my finger through it, it was that bad! Only 2 mini cartons of milk were provided equating to one hot drink each and despite my boyfriend emailing the hotel beforehand to let them know it was my birthday and that any special touches would be appreciated, they merely left what can only be described as a melted smear of chocolate saying 'happy birthday' on a plate in the room! The reception staff were snooty and unhelpful and offered absolutely no recompense for our complaints. Really cannot see what makes this place 5*, stayed at doubletree by hilton round the corner a few weeks earlier with my daughter and that was a far better stay in every respect by far. Do not waste your money on this overpriced, below standard hotel.

We stayed just 2 nights, but really enjoyed our stay in this luxurious hotel. The location for us was great, very close to Bank station and there were a few other underground stations not so far away. Liverpool Street station was an easy walk. The building itself was impressive and the lobby and all interiors were lovely too. Service was very professional and helpful. The room itself was great and very clean, and the bathroom was one of the best hotel bathrooms we've ever seen. Lots of White Company toiletries and a pile of magazines to leaf through too!
My only small criticism is that the tv service wasn't brilliant and strangely, it didn't include BBC one. Hey ho, we weren't there to watch tv and it certainly didn't detract from a wonderful stay. Should we need to stay in central London again, I would absolutely come back to this elegant and quiet hotel, which is well away from the crowds in the West End. I would whole-heartedly recommend it for a stay of any length.

Me and my partner stayed here on the 29th Dec 2012, I just want to say it was really lovely, the room was perfect everything you needed, warm and inviting. The service was excellent, nobody bothered you, it was very quiet, peaceful and the location was very good. You walked out the front door and the bank of England was just a short walk down the street. We had breakfast the next morning and it was delivered to our room on time, hot and delicious. Thank you Threadneedles for a wonderful time and we will be back same time this year :-)

Stayed here as convenient. Was obviously cheap post Xmas, which was good. A very nice hotel, if a bit difficult to find. I couldn't watch the TV and when I spoke to reception they didn't seem to care too much, just telling me it'll be ok next time as the system was been changed through the hotel, not exactly 5 star service (in fact Premier inn are better at responding to issues). Great decor in public areas of hotel. They provide a shoe shine service which I used, adequate rather than great.
I'd come here for a drink and to experience the hotel but don't think it will be top of my list to stay again.

Came here for romantic weekend break. Did not dissapoint. Room very comfortable and high quality. Asked for quite room and was upgraded. Staff seemed very switched on. Large clean bathroom with separate bath and shower. Lobby is very impressive and great for relaxing drink or tea. Honesty bar is a nice touch.

Small negatives:Televison not great with limited channels. They forgot the soundsystem/ ipod dock. When I called down about this I was told someone would come with one immediately but did not come for 40 mins and took a while to get installed.

On a par with Claridges and the like but half the price.

Have just returned from our first visit to this hotel and I can truthfully say it was worth every penny of their New Years celebration package. We are no strangers to London & we frequently like to escape for a weekend staying in a much loved hotel south of the river. Threadneedles is situated in the city & therefore is quiet over the weekends. It is quick stroll of 5 minutes from Liverpool St station & is surrounded by plenty of places to eat, drink & be merry. At first glance it has a quiet & unassuming facade, blink & you wouldn't know the hotel was there. Once inside the building is impressive, slightly intimidating at first, whilst somehow warmly inviting. A former victorian banking hall it is steeped in history & oozes chic grandeur. Upon arrival check it was swift. Our studio room was situated on the third floor, it was extremely spacious, clean & modern. It has the usual amenities offered by hotels these days however there were some extras that accompanied our stay. A chocolate "Happy New Year" along with petit fours & a hand written welcome card from the manager, nice touches that made us feel special. Our package included dinner in Bonds restaurant. An elegant yet relaxed dining experience. The dishes were a mix of fresh flavours that really complimented each other & the Somelier was on hand to offer advice should you not wish to take up the offer of wines that had been carefully selected to accompany each course. The general manager, Andreas Stys came & introduced himself to us & every other table dining that evening, spending a considerable amount of time with each of his guests. A fantastic spot of public relations that goes a long way to impress & ensure you feel your custom is truly valued. Breakfast was also included and it was refreshing to see a few other options alongside the usual English & continental choices. The restaurant staff were delightful, very much cheerful & friendly & nothing was too much trouble.
Our only criticism is to be woken in the wee small hours by our upstairs neighbours showering,at first I thought water was pouring in from somewhere! The occasional late night passer by can also be heard, showing that the soundproofing may need to be addressed. However this is a Victorian building not an all glass & mirrors modern hotel.
I can honestly see why people return here on a long term regular basis. We shall indeed follow in their footsteps. Thank you Threadneedles,it was a fabulous way to start 2013.

Room Tip: Soak up the atmosphere under the dome with a drink or two from the honesty bar
