Having stayed at Threadneedles before we were very much looking forward to our stay, it didn't disappoint.

After checking in we admired the stunning domed glass foyer and then made way to our room via the leather lined lifts!

The room, 319, is well sized, light and airy and very well appointed. I had arranged for Champagne and strawberries as a birthday treat for my wife and was delighted to see the Champagne sat waiting on ice, the strawberries arriving a few moments later.

After freshening up in the luxurious bathroom we spent the evening out at the Globe Theatre (5 stars performance), only 10mins walk and eventually strolled back around 11pm....London is a beautifully lit city at night.

Having organised breakfast (fabulous) and delivered bang on time we were suitably fuelled up for the day ahead.

We love the location of Threadneedles (on a Bank Holiday) this part of the City is as like a ghost town so its lovely and quiet, the staff are excellent, the hotel is beautiful and the only sad side to staying here, is having to leave.

We will certainly return again.

Dear jenningsfamilylincs

Thank you for choosing to stay at Threadneedles!

We're delighted that your recent stay with us was most enjoyable and thank you for your kind comments.

London is beautiful and we're privileged to have such an excellent location in the heart of The City near the Bank of England, yet only a short stroll away from the sights and sounds the South Bank has to offer.

We look forward to welcoming you back on a future visit.

Kind regards, Michael

We stayed at the hotel for our 15th Wedding Anniversary. Hotel staff made us feel truly welcome and special. The hotel itself is a gem, from the beautiful domed lobby to the well appointed rooms. It is a peaceful haven in the heart of the city of London. All the staff went out of their way to helpful from the receptionist on our arrival, to the concierge - flagging down black cabs on a particularly rainy London day! Cannot recommend this hotel enough......also the breakfasts were delicious!

Room Tip: Ask for a quite room. We were given a beautiful light and airy one on the 3rd floor. Did not hear an...

I was one of a wedding party of 20 people booked into 11 rooms at Threadneedles on a Sunday night. Without our large block booking the hotel would have been near empty, as there were not very many other guests around at the time. The welcome for our party, including bride and groom, could not have been more lacklustre and given the big spend there were no special touches that one would expect on such an occasion. Due to some confusion in the bookings, a room had been reserved for one couple who did not in fact stay at the hotel. Management were insistent upon charging the full rate for that room even though it had not been used and the hotel was not full. Only after much upset and some protracted negotiations was the charge reduced - but still not waived. The room I was in, sharing with the mother of the bride, was air conditioned to the point of deep freeze temperature and when we finally got into our room at 1.30am we could hardly stand to be in there, it was so cold. All room temperatures are controlled centrally by the hotel staff, so they warmed up the room, and by morning we were in a furnace. There was no in-between. Most preposterous, at breakfast in the morning a request for a staff member to take a photo of our table of 20 was met with the response: "We do not take photos, it is company policy." When this was queried - it was a post-wedding breakfast and we just wanted one photo to commemorate it - we were told, "No, it distracts the staff." There were hardly any other guests in the restaurant. Eventually one sweet waitress quickly took a shot for us, but the memory of the cold inflexible restaurant manager is what we all took away with us.

Nothing could ruin our celebration but the staff at this hotel certainly were not interested in enhancing it for us. Would definitely NOT recommend for a special occasion.

Dear debkrug

Thank you for your recent review of Threadneedles following your family’s visit for the wedding celebrations.
It’s disappointing to learn of your comments in regards to the issues you faced, however having discussed these matters with the individuals concerned, we understood these points were addressed, whilst you were our guest.
Once again, we apologise for the issues faced during your party’s visit and were glad to offer one complimentary room during your stay to assist with your party’s requirements.
Your comments in regards to the lack of cancellation of one bedroom are also disappointing. During a conversation with Senior Management, the offer was made and agreed to by the wedding party to pay a reduced cancellation fee, in addition to the offer of one night’s accommodation with our compliments on a future date, for the inconvenience caused.
The situation which occurred at breakfast is concerning and please rest assured that an investigation has been undertaken, for which we apologies for any miscommunication made during this request.

Please rest assured that we have been in contact with your party via email, on the day of departure and we do hope to welcome some of the family back to Threadneedles in the future.

Kind regards, Michael

Turned up on Friday night rather than catch the last train home after the theatre. The staff were lovely and couldn't be more welcoming. The glass of Prosecco upon arrival was a nice touch. The room was beautiful and well appointed. Love The City at the weekend - so quiet. Great decision. Hope to be back in the not too distant future.

I stayed at the Threadneedles hotel for I night and used my Marriott Reward points for the stay. As I am a Platinum member I got a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which was fantastic. The quality of the rooms are much higher that a normal Marriott, getting very close to Four Seasons quality.

When I arrived the staff were very welcoming and friendly, quickly checked me in and escorted me to my room on the 5th floor. The room was quiet, no road noise, however there was a clock close buy that chimed every 15 mins late into the night which might effect you if you were are a light sleeper.

Breakfast was good in the restaurant, mainly business folk having breakfast and breakfast meetings.

I would recommend this Marriott Autograph boutique hotel for the reasons above. I felt I was treated well as a Platinum member with a complimentary upgrade, complimentary Wifi, complimentary bottled water and complimentary breakfast. It’s right in the financial district near Bank underground, which suited myself but may not be ideal for people that want to be close to the main tourist attractions.

I have stayed in this hotel quite a few times over the years, and have always been happy with everything about it. It was never cheap but it is in the heart of the City of London. I recently had a two night stay however and was very disappointed. Front desk was sloppy and slow, breakfast was a pale shadow of its past excellence, I think the room was acceptably clean but the low energy lighting produced so little light that it was hard to tell, and the air conditioning/thermostat were so noisy and ineffective that sleep was a real challenge even though the bed was comfortable. Certainly not worth the nearly GBP 300 a night I had to pay. Marriot have just taken it over - I hope that is the solution and not the problem.

Have stayed at this great hotel now 3 times and I have never been disappointed. This experience is made even better now that they are officially part of Marriott's Autograph Collection. So now, I can reap the rewards of collecting Marriott points!

The rooms are extremely comfortable and quiet. The beds are really comfortable with very nice sheets. The service is top notch and all of the staff are very helpful and remember you and your name throughout your stay. The room service food is excellent, with some good choices. it is extremely quick too, usually delivered within 15-20 minutes.

A few minor issues that I had, but I'm sure they were isolated: my room was extremely hot so I had to switch rooms, the plunger on my sink didn't work, so I had standing water in my sink and the window in the bathroom was rattling all night, but again, i think all very isolated issues.
