“all that you could want”

Hotel is in a great location for both tourism and business. Room was fabulous, cathedral ceiling, larger room with mural of usa capital on wall. Bathroom was large, almost 100 sq. Ft. Hotel staff was very accomodating and professional. No special requests needed other than early cab.

Room Tip: Ask for room with Washington DC mural on wall

Dear ledgeroni
Thank you for your review, I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated that the hotel is equally suited to both business and leisure guests.
I am sorry to disappoint you however, the mural on the wall in your bedroom was not the US Capitol building, but it was St Paul's Cathedral which is only a short walk from the hotel. Each of our bedrooms has an oversize picture above the bedhead of a famous London landmark.
I do hope you will be back again soon to enjoy some of these landmarks which are all so easy to get to from Threadneedles Hotel.
Best Regards

I am biased I know, as I worked for 10 years in The City so staying there, especially at the weekend is a super thing to do.... and as we walk everywhere, we didn't find walking to Green Park/Covent Garden/the Embankment/Tower of London a problem at all from the hotel - in the glorious sunshine we had, it was idylic.

The Threadneedles is a very good hotel location wise even if you don't want to walk - it's 2 minutes from Bank/5 from Monument and a 10 minute walk to Liverpool Street.

We were able to drop our bag off at 8am without any problem.

We were in room 209 - pin drop quiet with a view towards the 'Cheese Grater'! It was large, light, airy and we loved the photograph of St Paul's above the bed. The bed was very large, SO comfortable with high quality feather duvet and pillows... we slept like logs! It was amusing to stay in a building I used to attend meetings in when it was a bank!

An iron and ironing board, good sized safe, mini bar, hairdryer, umbrella, slippers, dressing gown, nice quality toiletries were all in the room. The Krups coffee machine was fine but the location of the kettle daft... in a drawer, about 2 inches from the floor with an awkward reach to get the thing out in the first place, with a very stiff fold down 'shelf' - as I say.. daft!

The bathroom was very large and light, high quality towels... big bath and open shower. The water was always hot.

The room and bathroom were showing a few signs of wear... nothing bad but cracked grouting, chipped and scraped wood on some door/drawers but overal it was all in fine order.

The reception staff were pleasant. We were asked if we prefered still or sparkling water for the room, never saw any in the room. We did get the complimentary newspaper.

We were on a room only basis so can't comment on the breakfast but the restaurant looked very pleasant when we looked.

We would definitely go back to the Threadneedles without any hesitation.

This is a smaller property, and while it has a great location, and the rooms are nice (the bathrooms are very nice), the service is no where near a five star hotel. There are often no staff at the front desk, there is no concierge, no doorman, no one to help with luggage, and no one to get a cab or help arrange a car to the airport.
Our rate included breakfast, and when we went by the restaurant, they wouldn't honor it - apparently an error (again) by the front desk to pass on this information.
I would not stay at this hotel again unless there was a change in management or it was purchased by a stronger chain.

Dear Charlie_Hotlanta
I was so sorry to hear that you found our Front of House staff not up to your expectations. Our front desk is staffed 24 hours a day and we have concierges on duty 24 hours a day too. Whilst our Doorman is not working 24/7, when there is no doorman on duty the porters are available to carry luggage, open doors etc. I am sorry that you were not given the assistance that you needed. Please be assured that your experience is not indicative of the usual standards here, where we pride ourselves on our guest care.
I do hope you will give us an opportunity to restore your confidence in our hotel on your next visit to London.

We arrived well before check in time but a very helpful girl on reception said she would see if our room was ready She came back to us and said if we would like to take a seat in the lounge our room would be ready in 15 minutes and offered us a glass of prosecco which we enjoyed while admiring this old city bank that has been very tastefully turned into a classy hotel
The room was very comfortable and quiet ,bed was great and the room for London was spacious
We found the location good plenty of places to eat and only 5 minutes walk to Bank Station or 10 to Liverpool Street
All the staff were friendly and helpful and the bar staff knew how to make a great cocktail,!
We had an excellent freshly cooked breakfast and would certainly return to this hotel next time we are in London and will also try other Marriot Autograph hotels

We celebrated our wedding night in the hotel and have since been back for a 'mini' celebration. It is a wonderful oasis hidden in the heart of the city. Spectacular atrium with a real sense of history and excellent service- all the staff went out of their way to help us. Really recommend it- especially if you can get the penthouse rooms! Super location in the heart of London- you feel at the weekend like you have the city to yourself

Room Tip: If you can afford it the penthouse rooms are wonderful

Dear S Jepson-Jones
Thank you for your reveiw of your second stay with us, we are delighted that you came back again and hope you will continue doing so. I'm glad you appreciated our magnificent Dome Lounge with the spectacular stained glass dome; this was in fact the original Victorian banking hall and now is one of the most elegant venues in London for afternoon tea. We serve a "Great Briton's" afternoon tea, with pastries inspired by the 6 greatest Britons.

This was a Lastminuterooms.com reservation after searching the area for somewhere to stay for one night close to the newly opened Tobacco Docks in Shoreditch and boy did we get lucky. First the hotel is a Grade 1 listed building with a stained glass vaulted ceiling in reception which makes for a very dramatic entrance, check-in went smoothly and the nicest surprise was our upgrade and boy what an upgrade. From a general room to a fifth floor penthouse suite with terrace WOW!!!! There are only two rooms on the fifth floor 501 & 504 ours was 504 so make sure you ask for 504. Next surprise was that the normal room rate is £195 and through Lastminuterooms.com paid £175 Double WOW!!!!! Now the next bonus is a double edge sword, because it's the banking district and banks only open Mon -Fri all the near-by restaurants are only open Mon -Fri. So you need to be prepared to walk to eat. However that meant we had to research places to eat and we hit lucky again (see separate review for Roast). Our room was split into two bedroom and lounge TVs in both, mini bar, Nepresso machine (nice) both rooms had French windows that led on to the terrace from where you could see the dome of St. Paul's cathedral. We checked in at 2pm and we sat in our towelling robes on the terrace soaking up the sun with a glass of champers!!! Now the next was a real surprise we were staying in middle of London population 6 million people and guess what it was so quiet you could breathe in deeply and relax listening to the birds singing. That really surprised me how quiet it was all day and all night (ok one or two sirens but so far away they don't count). Everything in the room worked as it should TV, shower, air con, room service. We ordered two sandwiches me roast beef the other half smoked salmon both with chips. The only point here was that we ordered the sandwiches one white bread one malted bread but both arrived on brioche buns. The chips were described a hand cut but what arrived were plain old french fries. It was all very edible and tasty just not as described in the menu, shame. However, breakfast the next morning was FANTASTIC. The dining room is a real treat to eat in, all wood and glass very chic. My wife ordered freshly made waffles bacon maple syrup with creme friche and fruit really nice well presented. I had smoked salmon, scrambled egg side portion of black pudding very very tasty. With toast tea and coffee it went from the waitress note pad to our table in less then 10 minutes. All in all it was a real find on so many different levels the service, the area, the upgrade, the food. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and if your lucky to get room 504 your in for a great stay.

Room Tip: Book room 504 for spectacular views of London

Dear LordLucan 2010
Thank you so much for your detailed review, I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay and that we were able to upgrade your room on arrival.
You are right that the city is very quiet at weekends, it makes such a welcome escape after a day in the crowds of the West End, yet only a few tube stops away.
I hope you will be back again very soon.
