I stayed here on a weekend in March while attending a course in London. The hotel is lovely and quiet at the weekend and I had a super room. The only negative would be that the city is quiet on the weekend and the hotel lacks a bit of buzz for the solo traveller...

Dear Mandela10
I am deligted to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay with us, but sorry to hera that you were having to work over the weekend.
It is true that the City of London is much quieter at weekends (isn't it nice to have peace and quiet and clear roads in the centre of London !), but with Bank tube station only a hundred yards from the hotel, it is so easy to get to all the major shopping and tourist sights - Oxford circus ( ideal for the shopping meccas of Oxford Street and Regent Street) is only 10 minutes on the tube.
I do hope you will be back again soon and have time to enjoy all that London has to offer.

Location makes walking a strong ;possibility...that's the plus.

Upside:

Front desk staff young but personable and professional.

Downsides.

Dining room staff is unpolished, young, inexperienced and impersonal.

Food expensive, even by London standards. Breakfast for two easily $100, believe it or not.

Rooms are not large and avoid lower floors. Noisy, they're practically at street level. Double decker bus looks in your window. View is to building across alley with no privacy and Mon-Fri workers looking in your window. Got moved to a suite. It was smaller than first room without any dresser draws. None.

Got a good rate for London, but other than that. Not a great experience.

Room Tip: high floor only

Dear Beachrestaurantfan

I was sorry to read from your review of your disappointment with your stay ( although glad to hear that you felt it was a good rate and that our reception team were very personable).
Like most London hotels, we are surrounded by other equally high buildings and so the views from windows are inevitably of the buildings accross the road. In our case these are banks and offices, so only occupied during office hours. No one is facing your window in the evenings, early mornings or at weekends, as they would be if we had flats or other hotels opposite us.
I was very concerned to hear that you felt the restaurant staff at breakfast were unpolished, I have discussed your comments with our Restaurant Manager , who I know will address this with her team. With regards the price , we offer an a la carte breakfast, rather than a fixed price, so the cost does depend on how much and what you order.
I do hope that your disappointment on this occassion will not deter you from trying other Autograph Hotels.
Best regards

We booked this hotel last minute as we extended our stay in London. The value was good especially because we were upgraded to a suite. Except that the continental breakfast in the restaurant was very expensive. The staff at the hotel was very polite and professional. We were surprised that the hotel seemed to be not that busy given the quality. This is probably due to the location in the final district - quite a distance from most tourist attractions. It's much better as a business hotel than a tourist hotel for that reason. That said, we did walk to the Tower of London (20 minutes) and St Paul's Cathedral (15 minutes).

Dear Diverdad1
Thank you for your review, I'm delighted that you felt our hotel is great value for money.
It is true that we are in the centre of the financial district, so at weekends we are not surrounded by the crowded streets and noise of the central West End, BUT, it is so easy to get to the main shopping areas, theatre district and major attractions from here. With a bus stop rigt outside the hotel and Bank Underground station just a couple of minutes away, you can be in Oxford Street in 10 minutes. And, as you found out, we are within walking distance of TheTower of London and St Pauls Cathedral ( as well as Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast, The Museum of London, and The Millenium Bridge)
I hope you will be back again soon with more time to explore London.

We stayed two nights in this hotel and no complaints regarding the staff, the room or the hotel itself for that matter. However for those staying in London for vacation purpose be aware that this hotel is not geared for the first time tourist to this city. While the concierge/checkin personal (same) were professional and friendly, its apparent that the primary guest are there for business. We have done trips on the fly, as in this one, and can usually line up our activities rather quickly. Prime example is the Shelbourne Dublin in Ireland. Please note this is not a negative review of this hotel or staff.

Room Tip: My tip to all travelers is to request the highest floor to avoid traffic noise and furtherest from t...

Dear Mudwalker68
Thank you for your review, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us and liked the hotel and the staff.
Whilst a lot of our guests midweek are here on business ( we are in a prime business location just opposite the Bank of England), but at weekends our guests are all here for leisure and our staff are equally well able to look after both types of guests. For leisure guests, our Front Office staff are happy and able to make recommendations for places to vist , where to shop or what to see while in London as well as give directions and arrange transport.
Getting to the West End is so easy from Threadneedles Hotel as we have Bank tube station just a few minutes walk away.
I do hope you will be back again soon to explore more of London.

Hotel is in a great location for both tourism and business. Room was fabulous, cathedral ceiling, larger room with mural of usa capital on wall. Bathroom was large, almost 100 sq. Ft. Hotel staff was very accomodating and professional. No special requests needed other than early cab.

Room Tip: Ask for room with Washington DC mural on wall

Dear ledgeroni
Thank you for your review, I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated that the hotel is equally suited to both business and leisure guests.
I am sorry to disappoint you however, the mural on the wall in your bedroom was not the US Capitol building, but it was St Paul's Cathedral which is only a short walk from the hotel. Each of our bedrooms has an oversize picture above the bedhead of a famous London landmark.
I do hope you will be back again soon to enjoy some of these landmarks which are all so easy to get to from Threadneedles Hotel.

I am biased I know, as I worked for 10 years in The City so staying there, especially at the weekend is a super thing to do.... and as we walk everywhere, we didn't find walking to Green Park/Covent Garden/the Embankment/Tower of London a problem at all from the hotel - in the glorious sunshine we had, it was idylic.

The Threadneedles is a very good hotel location wise even if you don't want to walk - it's 2 minutes from Bank/5 from Monument and a 10 minute walk to Liverpool Street.

We were able to drop our bag off at 8am without any problem.

We were in room 209 - pin drop quiet with a view towards the 'Cheese Grater'! It was large, light, airy and we loved the photograph of St Paul's above the bed. The bed was very large, SO comfortable with high quality feather duvet and pillows... we slept like logs! It was amusing to stay in a building I used to attend meetings in when it was a bank!

An iron and ironing board, good sized safe, mini bar, hairdryer, umbrella, slippers, dressing gown, nice quality toiletries were all in the room. The Krups coffee machine was fine but the location of the kettle daft... in a drawer, about 2 inches from the floor with an awkward reach to get the thing out in the first place, with a very stiff fold down 'shelf' - as I say.. daft!

The bathroom was very large and light, high quality towels... big bath and open shower. The water was always hot.

The room and bathroom were showing a few signs of wear... nothing bad but cracked grouting, chipped and scraped wood on some door/drawers but overal it was all in fine order.

The reception staff were pleasant. We were asked if we prefered still or sparkling water for the room, never saw any in the room. We did get the complimentary newspaper.

We were on a room only basis so can't comment on the breakfast but the restaurant looked very pleasant when we looked.

We would definitely go back to the Threadneedles without any hesitation.

This is a smaller property, and while it has a great location, and the rooms are nice (the bathrooms are very nice), the service is no where near a five star hotel. There are often no staff at the front desk, there is no concierge, no doorman, no one to help with luggage, and no one to get a cab or help arrange a car to the airport.
Our rate included breakfast, and when we went by the restaurant, they wouldn't honor it - apparently an error (again) by the front desk to pass on this information.
I would not stay at this hotel again unless there was a change in management or it was purchased by a stronger chain.

Dear Charlie_Hotlanta
I was so sorry to hear that you found our Front of House staff not up to your expectations. Our front desk is staffed 24 hours a day and we have concierges on duty 24 hours a day too. Whilst our Doorman is not working 24/7, when there is no doorman on duty the porters are available to carry luggage, open doors etc. I am sorry that you were not given the assistance that you needed. Please be assured that your experience is not indicative of the usual standards here, where we pride ourselves on our guest care.
I do hope you will give us an opportunity to restore your confidence in our hotel on your next visit to London.
