Stayed here with my husband to be close to a work do. We booked far in advance to get the best rates which made this worthwhile. The room was small but very clean and quiet. Our window looked onto Fenchurch Street Station but they must have tripple glazing at we did not hear a thing from outside! Very comfortable bed, great toiletries and tea cofee facilities. Only small gripe would be there is no clear queing for the check and check out so people are jumping in when others have been waiting quite a while, the hotel needs to have a better system for this as it was very frustrating. Overall we will definatly stay here again.

Room Tip: Book far in advance for the best rates.

PRICE has always got to be a big factor, but all London hotels cost a pocket. We shopped round and got a fair deal on this one, but still pretty eye watering by any standard. The place itself in various stays has always been clean and efficient. The rooms are highly variable from dark and low overlooking the station to high and bright looking towards Tower Bridge, if you can get to pre-select a room I suggest you do so, the higher the better. That said I have stayed here and overlooked the station, as it was a business trip it didn't matter that much. The breakfasts are good but expensive, around £20. If you can jsut afford to stay here but need to save a few pounds I suggest you go out. Liewise I have not had dinner here, there are so many good eateries nearby.

I have not stayed in the City before, prefering the west end. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel; staff keen to deliver good service and some excellent rooms. It is convenient for many things for me. Breakfast though was underwhelming

Room Tip: Request an executive room or studio

On arrival the reception staff were miserable and greeted us with a blank stare - no hello, welcome or even a smile. There were 2 other couples at reception complaing about their rooms being smelly / dirty and asking to be changed so we had to sit and wait for 20 minutes as our room was not ready.
The room itself was comfortable and clean - be aware of the automatic minibar though. Charges you if anything is taken out / moved inside the minibar. They tried to charge us for 2 items when we hadnt had anything at all.
Swimming pool and gym is very nice.
Breakfast is only cold pastries, meat, cheese, cereals etc and not a great selection. Hot food is charged extra and quite expensive.
Location is quite good, just a few meteres from the nearest underground and right across the street from Tower of London.
Its Ok but the rude staff let the place down and compared to other places no way a 5 star - more like 4. Plenty of better hotels to choose from.

What a fabulous hotel in a great location and in a fabulous city.

I stayed at the Grange City for 4 nights. It certainly wasn't cheap but then again London is not cheap and it's difficult to find really good accommodation for under 200 pounds a night.

Whilst it was a little on the expensive side it is in a fantastic location. The hotel room itself had a view directly out onto London Tower and Tower Bridge. I was never at any stage bored with the location as it's 50 meters from the Tower Hill tube station, 100 meters (or so) to the Thames, 300 meters to Tower Bridge and maybe .8 km to London Bridge. Get yourself a daily tube ticket and use it to your heart's content. Every major tourist attraction and sight is virtually a 10 minutes train ride away.

The hotel's food was ok. I had room service a couple of nights and ate the salmon. That was reasonably price at 16 pounds. There are loads of bars and restaurants nearby.

The hotel has a great gym and indoor pool, although I chose to go outdoors running along the Thames and found one of the Fitness First gyms I am a member of. There are lots of these in London, so if you are a Fitness First member don't forget to take your membership card and international passport (FF passport).

The rooms in the hotel are big and a huge Kind size bed was a welcome sight at the end of the day. The bed was extremely comfortable. There is a sofa and a large TV in the room which is hooked up to cable with a choice of something like 50 plus stations. If you are like me... I was happy to watch EPL and other soccer matches as it was play-off time.

This is a great hotel and one which I would highly recommend to business travellers and tourists.

Room Tip: Get a view to London Tower & Bridge! :))

Our family of 4 stayed here in mid April - the view was of the Tower of London and London Bridge - the best view I could imagine. Our room was very nice - and included a very comfortable cot/bed set up by the big window for our younger daughter. We had no complaints about the room - the only things we'd change would be to increase the efficiency of the reception desk and to have the hot tub working (it was out during our stay). The staff was helpful once you got them, but the check-in, check-out situation did take too long. The City area is pretty quiet on weekends - but location worked out fine for us.

Service
Good service however just after we arrived it became very busy at reception and there is no organised queueing system which left people confused and not sure where to go. Same goes for the luggage storage, it all seemed a bit dis-organised.
Room
When asked whether we wanted a smoking or non-smoking room I asked for the one with the best view. As there none left available we were given a free upgrade to an executive room. I'm glad we were upgrading as the room was smaller than basic Travelodge/Premier Inn rooms so I dread to think how small the others were. The room overlooked Fenchurch Street station which wasn't so bad but there were a lot of office windows looking directly into our room so we kept our curtains closed - shame as it was gorgeous weekend so the sun in the morning would have been nice.
Location
Literally 30 seconds from Tower Bridge underground and just across the road from the Tower of London but that's it. We walked back from Southwark/Embankment 1 night at a gentle stroll and it took at least 45 mins.
Amenities
Spa was nice though you feel like you're intruding on the staff and that you should know exactly where you're going and what you should be doing. Pool was too cold so spent all my time in the jacuzzi!
Room service took ages (over 1 hour for 2 meals) and we had to ring to see where our food was a couple of times. We ordered Pizza (which you could tell was not fresh and tasted very cheap) and spaghetti bolognese (very bland with cold sticky pasta by the time it arrived).
Breakfast
Very impersonal, took ages for tea and coffee to be done so much so we gave up and had drinks in our room. Food was OK.

To be honest for a 5* hotel in London it's not worth it.
