Stayed for one night, to meet with a colleague and friend who is staying there all week and have no complaints overall. The hotel is a five minute walk from Earl's Court tube (exit on the Earl's Court Road side of the station). Rooms are not enormous but are nicely finished with an excellent selection of toiletries (toothbrushes and baby toothpaste tubes are provided) and in contrast to the previous reviewer, the bathroom fittings are perfectly fine and everything is spotlessly clean. The lobby bar sells Starbucks coffee in addition to the usual selection of alcoholic drinks, and again I am not sure exactly what the previous reviewer expects the hotel to do about 'locals' purchasing same and sitting inside or outside to drink it - it's a public bar after all. As for the coffee story, we overheard the staff dealing very politely with a couple who had ordered a takeaway pizza, delivered by a motorcycle delivery man, who then expected to be able to 'charge' this to their room, rather than pay the delivery man when he arrived. The pizza ended up in the bin, but the staff were extremely patient and courteous throughout the various exchanges which ensued with this couple. The staff are a credit to the hotel, very professional and friendly. Although right next to a busy four lane road, we were not disturbed by traffic noise at all when in the room. Hotel is excellently located for everything in Kensington & Chelsea borough and is fairly priced for London - drinks especially so, with bottles of Corona for £3.40 - this is significantly less than I am charged in my home town in the frozen north of Scotland. The bar staff could perhaps remove cups / empty ashtrays a bit more frequently outside, but this is a minor gripe in what was overall a very pleasant stay.

After booking months earlier and upon arriving late in the evening our room had somehow been given away. Corine and Andreas could not do enough for us to rectify the problem. As we had a complimentary drink Corine cleaned a room for us and all was sorted. However the room was a small double. We took it for the night and in the morning asked for a standard double. Again that was no problem. As we went out exploring, our things were moved to a new room. Location was fantastic. We had a very pleasant stay and even though we thought we were at Faulty Towers, ( on the first night) Corine and Andreas could not have been more charming and helpfull. I would stay again

I selected The Mercure having stayed at others in France and England where we have been quite satisfied. This hotel, I would say is an old hotel refurbished to a rather cheap and poor standard. The quality of bathroom fittings, for example, were poor although the bathroom was clean.
The rooms were small and badly planned although the bed and bedding were excellent.
The one lift was very old and tarted up.
Breakfast was included and we had a good choice, although I hate fried eggs in a baine - marie, surely not necessary.
The outside area was generally occupied by local residents having coffee etc and taking all the seating and tables, not good. Bar staff and reception were pleasant and eager to help.
I paid £410-00 for two nights, which was diabolical for the standard, especially as on returning home I was emailed with an offer for half the price.
On the second morning my wife went outside following breakfast for a cigarette and asked for an espresso. She was then asked for the room number to charge to the room or payment of £1-40.
This was totally out of order as she had just left the breakfast room for a cigarette. She paid the money, but it is goodbye to the Mercure, never again.

Booked a standard double room but I received a small double instead. Didnt kick up a fuss as I was only there a couple of hours. A/C didnt worked, reported to front desk but nothing happened. Walls and doors were very thin, could hear everything that was happening in the corridor. Staff was nice and so was the location.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a the standard and not small.
