Reviewed 30 May 2014

An excellent, well situated, moderately priced hotel in Kensington close to many attractions.
Staff most welcoming, and we were in fact given an upgrade, on arrival.
Room very comfortable. Adequate breakfast and meals.
No complaints at all.

Good accessible location. I wish folks were friendlier. Nice clean rooms. Comfortable bed for a good night's sleep. Adequate breakfast enough. Nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about. Just OK

Quite satified with the hotel. Good breakfasts.
Staff had little options to assit guests during a failure of the air conditioning over the weekend extending to Tuesday morning. The top floor rooms on the Cromwell Road side of the building became very hot and stuffy, with the windows unable to be opened due to the double glazing option the hotel has selected. I was lucky enough to get moved to the other side of the hotel where windows di open, many did not.
On checkout though, breakfast charges were waived, and internet connection to was offered, but I already had that for free anyway.

I stayed here recently with family. We booked the four single bed room. It was a great size and had a sizeable bathroom. Not only did they offer plenty of toiletries, they also included complementary drinks in the fridge each day. Plenty of in room tea and coffee options as well as biscuits. The beds are plush and soft, great for a good night's sleep. The blankets are soft and warm. The AC in the room worked perfectly fine, it cooled the room as expected though I do wish it was a little bit stronger for the room size. It kept the room at a fairly comfortable temperature but it would have been nicer a tad bit cooler. The windows didn't open in our room, not that I would have wanted it. The AC was running and we were facing the street that you wouldn't want to hear (or breathe) at night.

I would also recommend the breakfast the hotel offers. It has a full spread of traditional english breakfast foods such as beans, sausages, hash-browns, and eggs as well as the more traditional continental fare. Do try and get down early as it can be pretty busy down there and space is limited.

Staff were always helpful and knowledgeable about getting around town. Friendly and trying their best to make my stay go well.

The only complaint is that the room could use a LITTLE extra cleaning, I found a few small stains in the carpet when I arrived. A little on the expensive side but London isn't a cheap city by any means. If you're looking for budget, you won't likely find it here. If you have some extra cash to spend for a better stay, I would certainly recommend this place.

Over all I would love to come back to this hotel when I return to London in future. Thank you Mercure for a great stay.

Room Tip: If you're booking for a family, I'd highly recommend getting a 4 single bedroom instead of b...

Excellent reception staff, friendly, courteous and efficient. The hotel was average in price and room decor, but the hospitality of the reception staff was outstanding, they are to be congratulated. The location of the hotel was very convenient for access to the underground and touring London.

I am basing this review solely on the rack rate I paid of £115 including brekkie. Tried to book for next week and price for same room (standard single) was £235!

Anyway, Hotel is situated in a very nice district within walking distance of 2 tube stations, lots of quiet bars and restaurants on the road too so plenty of choice if you don't wish to eat at the hotel or have a drink at the bar, which though very clean is also quite small.. Hotel menu did look good value but just fancied going somewhere else.

Was given upgrade on arrival to an Exec room. Room was good size and well specced. Even though it overlooked the main road there was no issue with noise, lots of complimentary items to choose from as well.

Breakfast was very good with a decent selection of hot & cold offerings. £10 to pay for this normally seems good value for London.

Staff were pleasant and friendly at all times. Hotel seemed very clean and well looked after, room was spotless.

To be honest, couldn't fault any part of my stay.

As with most hotels, it pays to search for the best deals, this one is no exception. Pay £235 a night and you may feel a bit differently towards it........
