“Fabulous hotel in a great location”
Reviewed 24 August 2010

We stayed here for three nights with our 6 year old daughter. From the moment we pulled up we knew we'd chosen the right hotel. Great location, close to all the sights, shopping and restaurants. Lovely lobby filled with flowers and a bright and cheery tea room, restaurant and bar.

We were treated to cookies and juice upon entering our room and the nightly turn down service included small water bottles. The room was large and well appointed with a large tv, huge king sized bed, and small roll away for my daughter. The Hermes bath products were a treat as was the shower system, tea service, and in room iron. I adore London and was excited to get out and see if all but between the cozy chic room and the comfy bed I had a hard time getting up every day. No problems with wi-fi in the room.

The staff was friendly and efficient and although we walked most places there were always taxis waiting out front. This is one of my all-time favorite hotels!

This is a fantastic hotel.

Location:
I think this is the best location to tour the city not because everything is close by, there is no such location in London, but the travel connections from Piccadilly Circus are excellent and this hotel is a hop and jump from the piccadilly circus.

Service:
The real star of this hotel are it's staff, nothing is too much for them and I mean concierge, front desk, house keeping, room service every one is really helpful and eager to serve

Room:
I stayed for a couple of days in the superior room and for a week in the luxury room. The superior room is quite small but luxury room is ok though not very spacious but decent according to London standard. Rooms are clean, bed is comfortable, shower is fantastic.

Breakfast in the room was very ordinary and overpriced.

All in all I would definitely return.

Having stayed in many hotels (usually for business) I find them often very similar and sometimes plush front of house but the bedrooms can often be a little shabby.
That is not the case based on our stay at the Sofitel. The rooms were both clean and in a good state of repair. This, coupled with a great location, is a great start. Add to that a really first class and friendly standard of service from each and every member of staff that we had the pleasure to meet, made this stay a real pleasure. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The location is great. It is centrally located in London and very close to the major attractions. The staff was great. They went out of their way to accomodate you and were very helpful. We arrived from the states at 11:00 a.m. and were able to check into our room, which was great considering we had been traveling all night. The room was great. It was located toward the back of the hotel, which made it quiet, but we had a nice view outside of our window. The bed was very comfortable, the best I've ever had in a hotel and the bathroom was a decent size. The only downside I would say is the price. The hotel was a little on the pricey side. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, but did eat dinner one night which was good.

First off, I have to admit that I never really liked London. After our stay at the St James,, my feelings have changed! The Sofitel was centrally located to most everything we wanted to do. The location was fabulous and within walking distance of virtually everything. The SoFit facilities were very nice, in fact, it made it very easy to want to get a workout in every day, even while on a trip where you are walking miles every day. The food at Brasserie Roux was very good. The hotel staff we encounted were helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make us feel special. Our room, the Richardson Suite, was adorable, spacious and comfortable. My son loved the wallpaper! We had five nights here, and on our three week vacation I kept wishing that every hotel we stayed in was the Sofitel St James. Now I look forward to going back to London (and the St James)!

Stopped her for 3 nights back in april as my husband was in the marathon. He had decided on this hotel because it was the nearest hotel to the finish line.
As soon as we walked in this hotel it is pure class and the staff very welcoming. Our room was a little tucked away but was very nice with all the usual amenities you would expect from this sort of hotel. We had brought one of our children with us as our youngest was only 4 months old. The cot was very nice not your normal crappy thing you get in hotels, the staff also brought up a baby bath without us asking, and plenty of small towels for the baby. A nice touch was a new rubber duck for us to keep.
Breakfast was excellent, the best i have had anywhere, but beware the bar is extremely expensive, no getting drunk here unless your wallet can stand it . But i suppose you are in central london. As for location you couldnt find better. Just hope hubby gets in the marathon next year so i can go again........

This was the fourth hotel I've stayed at in London in two years and by far the best. Try to book online because the rates are better than those you get from the hotel direct. The location is perfect. Two minutes from both Trafalgar Square and Piccadilly Circus and with most sights no more than by 15 minutes away by foot. More significantly, the hotel is very quiet for the location. Superior rooms are spacious, well appointed and clean. My son's room did have noise from the air conditioning vents outside but it was nowhere near as intrusive as at other hotels we've visited. We arrived early but our rooms were already available. The bar is a little small for a hotel of this size and getting a seat at busy times could be a problem. The waiting on staff in both the bar and restaurant were friendly and efficient. It was never a problem getting their service, even at busy times. As with most hotels of this standard it is expensive but overall you get value for money. Anyone looking to limit expense can avoid the cost of (the enjoyable) breakfast and choise to go elsewhere for drinks
