“Room with a view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2013

I'm already a fan of the whole Z hotel thing as I stay at the Victoria one sometimes. Friendly helpful staff and plenty of them. Cheese and wine in the evening. A nice breakfast. A well appointed cosy hotel room with or without a window.

So when Victoria hadn't got any space I didn't hesitate to try Soho. Greta location and my room (210) had the most amazing view. I was in the centre of everything but it wasn't too noisy. I could lie in my warm comfortable bed and watch the West end just get on with it.

Next time I'm going to a show as well. It is very close to Leicester Square tube - just down Charing Cross road. I got off at Tottingham court road and went such a scenic route I missed the cheese and wine (ends at 8pm). Had a delicious salad instead though. Lots of Halloween decorations as well.

A great place to stay - on business or having fun.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view, go for 210.

I booked this hotel to be near the West End and it was very convenient. On arriving the reception staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was tiny but fine for one night, and we didn't spend much time in there. I thought the room would be like the one in Yotel in New York, but it was smaller and perhaps lacked one or two of the touches - like a towel rail and a decent light to make up my face by! (There was no window) but the staff were far better than Yotel. The bed was very comfortable. The cheese and wine buffet were great, and so was breakfast - although it wasn't always easy to get a seat.
I would certainly stay there again because of the location and the friendliness of the staff.

The room is ridiculously tiny. Impossible. The bed is small. No furniture. No place for suitcase or clothes at all. The bedroom is tiny with glass pane walls in front of the bad.
Only 1 outlet, so it’s impossible to charge phones, laptops at the same time
It's barely a single room.
Hotel staff is very good.
Great location.

From the moment we arrived, literally three minutes from Leicester Square tube station, the staff could not have been more welcoming, friendly and accommodating. This gorgeous, chic little hotel could not be more perfectly or centrally located, and for a tiny fraction of the price you normally pay for London.

My wife and I had a lovely stay here, walking to and from Theatre Royal Drury Lane in ten minutes, so why not spend the night here the next time you take in a West End show? It's better than rushing for the train back, etc...

The rooms ARE small, but they make 'no bones' about this on their website - in fact, they make it quite a USP as an urbanite place - and the complimentary cheese and wine in their sweet little cafe (buffet breakfast is also served in here) between 5.00 and 8.00pm is just another little surprise they lay on for guests.

We have never stayed in central London before, but will DEFINITELY be back here...

Thank you!

Room Tip: We were in 420, overlooking Charing Cross Road (and a lovely tree blown around by the hurricane!!) T...

I was a bit concerned about how small the hotel website makes the rooms sound but for a single traveller in a double room it was absolutley fine. Particularly liked the complimentary wine & cheese served in the hotel bar 5pm - 8pm.

Great location in close proximity to Covent Garden and Leicester Square, just off Charring Cross Road. The hotel reception was very small however the staff were very welcoming. I was booked in to an upgraded queen room which was still extremely small however to be expected in Central London, I dread to think how small a standard room is though! Rooms were very well presented and had Sky Sports which is always a bonus.

I had high expectations of this hotel, having stayed previously at 8 Hotels and Yotel which are similar concepts. But Z Hotel lacks the style of 8 and the coolness of Yotel. My double room was incredibly basic - more like a hostel than a hotel. Tiny dimensions, very basic feel, no furniture or fittings aside from the bed and a shelf, complimentary toiletry (singular) looks and smells like washing-up liquid, cold water only from the shower, there is nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom so they are permanently consigned to the floor and the only hanging space for clothes is a coat hanger on the back of the door. The location is good being near Soho and Chinatown but our room was very noisy. The room was stiflingly hot when we arrived so we had to open the window but this resulted in little sleep. Altogether an unhappy experience and not worth the money.
