Really can't fault this place, its exceptional. Great staff, immaculate rooms, breakfast 5 * inclusive wine and cheese in the evening, best location ever, very high standard rooms, towels showers, you name it. Attentive staff, just ideal for a night or two in Soho but maybe not suitable for families or long stays, I will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Don't look anywhere else, you won't beat this hotel guaranteed !!!

Have stayed here before and I'm glad to see that it's still a great place to crash for the night. Beds are very comfortable, huge TVs, great shower and nice big towels.

So why the 4 and not 5 ? I have a big issue with housekeeping team using the lifts at the expense of guests sometimes just going down one floor. I witnessed a couple having to only have one of them use the lift as two housekeepers and myself in the lift. A small point but guests should always come first.

Your kind feedback that the beds are confortable, great shower and nice big towels are equally most appreciated.
Please accept my sincere regrets about the issues raised, and I want to assure you that they have been received and an action will be taken in regards to this matter.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Yours sincerely,

My wife and I stayed overnight because it is almost next door to Princess Edward Theatre.
Miss Saigon. Fantastic show.
I was completely amazed by the design. Walk around when you visit. Brilliant architecture.
The Staff could not have been friendlier. The room was tiny but perfectly designed for one night.
Breakfast was extra, but a very nice surprise.
It truly is in the heart of the West End and we will certainly be using it again.
Don't expect a quiet night. There is a ventilation system which has a soft thunder. A bit like sleeping near the engine room on a cruise liner. Not unpleasant.

Room Tip: We had a queen size room 424. Tight fit but very cosy.

Loved the concept, right next to lots of venues, Soho's shops, coffee bars & cakes, chocolate shops, walk to Trafalgar Square and the superb National Gallery, theaters and close to Covent Gardens, The Strand and Royal College of Surgeons all about 15 mins on foot.

Rooms are cool, compact, clean, super TV and a great welcome at the front desk.

Recommended, thank you Sergiu & Dominika

Room Tip: I have stayed a few times and they are all great

When we booked our room at the Z Hotel Soho, our main criteria were a) easy access to Central London and its underground stations, b) clean quarters, and c) a full bathroom in the room.  It was to serve as merely a place to sleep after clubbing on a Saturday night before heading to the airport on Sunday, so we needed little more than that.

It technically fulfilled all these requirements.  I say "technically" because the bathroom seemed almost like an afterthought -- it was microscopic (as was the room itself) and therefore prone to overspray from the shower despite the unusually low water pressure, had no tissue dispenser, and had translucent walls (implying an assumption of single occupancy for the room or occupancy by couples only -- good thing the person I was traveling with was my husband).  There was also no phone.

On the positive side, the hotel caters to the artsy, after-hours crowd, offering unusual perks like complimentary wine and cheese in the early evening and complimentary soft drinks and pastries after 11pm.  Our wake-up "call" was done in person with a knock at our door.  And the walls were surprisingly effective at blocking sound despite the bustling surroundings and general "no-frills" nature of the hotel in most other respects.  The location was also ideal, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

If your hotel needs are similar to ours, the Z will do the job, but save your pennies -- despite the hotel's utilitarian nature, it's not cheap, and its policy is to charge for the entire stay at the time of booking.

I stayed in an apartment room which was quite nice. It was spacious, had a decent kitchen area and an excellent flat screen TV with Sky. There were a few bizarre design decisions though like not having a plug point near the table, no phone or way of contacting reception from the room and the bathroom mirror was about five steps away from the sink (shaving becomes a mini workout).

And now the major problem – throughout my stay I was treated to the hotel’s lobby/bar music. It felt like I had a stereo in the room permanently playing cheesy jazz/new age instrumentals. It was faint, but certain tracks would come in clearer and, unfortunately, the sound of sax solos travels very well.

This is torture for a light sleeper like me. Even if you aren't a light sleeper, being made to listen to lobby music over and over again would drive anyone insane. There would be brief respites (straight after I complained), but the music would soon start back up, lasting as late as 1am and starting, without fail, at 7am. There was one morning when I called reception (via my cellphone) to complain and the music was turned off, only to be turned back on again in an hour. I asked later why that was the case and I was told that the owner had come by and ordered them to start it up again despite knowing of my complaint!

I complained several times to everyone at reception which was always met with promises to sort it out. When that didn’t happen, I got responses like “why don’t you wear earplugs?” and “all hotels have music.”

I haven’t even gone into the street noise problem because I realise that is out of their control. But when the hotel’s own music is disturbing your guests, either turn it off or invest in some better sound proofing.

Bottom line – don’t stay here if you value your sleep or peace of mind. If you must, take a room high up and hope you’re not next to one of their outdoor areas that also play music.

I knew what to expect from reviews prior to booking the hotel, so the size of the room (small!) was not an unpleasant surprise! In fact, I was impressed by how well-used the space is. I had a single room on the 5th floor, with a window looking out to Palace Theatre. It was quiet, had loads of light, and I actually thought the room was extremely cosy. It was also well equipped with coffee & tea making facilities, a proper hair dryer and flat screen TV with plenty of channels. The bed was super comfy, and everything was well-maintained and clean.
I love, love, love the fact that the hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from Leicester Square tube station, and a few minutes walk to Covent Garden and Oxford Street. Location-wise, it really couldn't get any better. The hotel also offered free wine and cheese to guests every evening, which I thought was a nice touch.
Z Hotel was perfect for a solo traveller, but I imagine it may get a bit much sharing such a confined space with someone.
