We went with my girlfriend on New Years Eve for 6 days. The place is very good because it is 5 minutes away from Leicester square. The staff is very friendly and always around when you need them.
The problem is that the rooms are extremely small. I had read the other reviews but i did not expect to be so small.
You can stay only on the bed and there is no place to put your clothes.
The Wi-Fi was rarely connecting and the speed was slow when it did.
The soundproofing is average and you can hear people from adjacent rooms (not what they are saying but hearing sound).
The bed and TV are great and the shower has always hot water.
During the night i did not have a problem with the noise from the other rooms.
I had a very good time but i did not stay there for a long time because i was outside most of the time.
If you are going to stay here book the Queen room which is the biggest of these tiny rooms.

Room Tip: Try to get to the higher floors because it is less noisy. Book only the Queen room it is much better than the others.

We went to London to see "the commitments" at the "Palace Theatre". We stayed at this hotel & found it whilst very compact surprisingly comfy. The location is second to none centrally placed with under a 20minute walk to any of the fashionable areas such as Covent Garden, Chinatown, Soho etc. The free wine & cheese is something that we really loved & went down a storm with my wife, all in all a fantastic little hotel with big charm, would recommend.

There's no doubt that if the staff at this hotel has been awful then this review would have been a zero. However they were great, especially the reception staff who, when I asked if we have been allocated the correct room as ours was tiny, looked at me like they had been asked that question before - many times! With good reason too. We had a booked a 'Queen' room, which is a myth in the UK as queens only exists in America so it's a double by any other name. However a normal double was quoted as being smaller than ours and had no windows! The average sized Hobbit would no doubt feel at home in our room but this is without doubt the smallest room we have ever stayed in (pretty much anywhere) ever, outside of a caravan.

The bed (which was rock hard) was enclosed on three sides as it met all the walls of the room on the other three, so entrance to it was available from one side only, which is fine in a caravan! Also the shower, toilet and sink were all housed a pod-like space definitely made for one.

This would not be a problem were it not for the price - you are paying a high price (at this class of hotel anyway - this is not the Savoy bytheway). However, for a weekend away in the capital, a centrally located Premier Inn will cost just below £200 a night and the Thistle just off Leicester Square around £240. The Z charged £216 for this bijou affair, which is frankly ridiculous.

On the upside, it is perfectly located for all theatres and spotlessly clean (and as mentioned previously the staff are brilliant, polite and courteous). Ironically they have the largest bath towels we've ever had in a hotel. That said, in comparison to its closest competition mentioned earlier it falls short based on the price you pay and what you get for it.

For a weekend away we would alway choose the Premier Inn, Thistle or Best Western in London rather that the Z hotel. If we'd paid £150 or below for the night maybe that would have been about right and knowing what you are going to get then maybe this would attract us back because it's clean and well located. However, for a few pounds more I'd still like a room where I can enter the bed from more than one point. It's unlikely we will return as the downsides outweigh the upsides.

Room Tip: All I can say is that we were told very apologetically that ours was one of the biggest rooms as other rooms were smaller and had no windows. We had a small window.

We came to this wonderful hotel and stayed for 2 nights last weekend for my birthday and were amazed by how great this hotel was! We were fully aware of the "compact rooms" as the hotel clearly states this on their website & actually we were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room, with independently controlled air conditioning, a 40" smart TV at the foot of our comfortable double bed, and near silent ambience (sound proofed rooms). We really do not understand why other reviewers have complained about the room size as we came to London to see LONDON, not to sit in our hotel room for 2 days? Our aim for a hotel in one of the most vibrant capital cities in the world was to spend as much time as possible out of our room soaking up the culture of this diverse city, and then having somewhere to lay our heads at the end of each long day. Every member of the staff team was so polite & helpful, they went over and above their roles to make my birthday one that I'll never forget - a couple of glasses of Prosecco on arrival, time spent with us explaining how to get to different parts of the city, always asking us how our day/ evening had been. We couldn't have wished for nicer, professional people to make our stay so enjoyable. With regards to the location of the hotel, it is nestled right in the heart of Soho, theatre land and it's never ending supply of retail areas - short walking distances to Oxford Street, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus, underground stations - we'll never stay anywhere other than The Z Hotel Soho ever again when staying in London.
Little extras at this hotel include a roof top terrace, a superb courtyard area (we are smokers so great for us!) and a cafe/bar that offers breakfast in the morning (although sorry to say - we were never up in time for this - too many late night bars and clubs which kept us partying until the early hours!!) and from 5pm to 8pm each night the hotel offers it's residents complimentary wine and cheese boards (which change each day) in this area which is very relaxing and romantic. They even offer complimentary soft drinks from 11pm through until 6am. This must be unheard of in London?? Seriously, unless you are boring/ weird and choose to go to London to spend all of your stay cooped up in your hotel room, you truly cannot go wrong with this hotel.
Thank you so much to all of the staff at The Z Hotel Soho, you made such a memorable stay for both my partner and I, on my birthday! See you all very soon (unfortunately we both think we've got the London bug now!!)

We stayed here 4 nights. The location cannot be beat. The rooms are very nice, although small. The hotel hosts a wine and cheese thing every night, it more than makes up for the room size. We highly recommend this place. Worth every pound! We will stay here again
