“Villagio - good basic Italian food, good all round value”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

Following a local business meeting, our party of 9 visited Villagio for an evening meal, one of several visits we have made over the past 3 years. The atmosphere is welcoming, lively, the staff attentive but not overly so - there when needed, invisible when not!. The food is good basic wholesome Italian and, like the wine list, modestly priced. This is a popular pre- and post-theatre venue with the Hammersmith Apollo, Lyric Theatre and Riverside Studios close by. There is an adjacent large basement annexe which is much quieter than the main ground floor restaurant but advance booking is essential if you wish to be seated there. The food! Starters are generous with main courses also available in starter portions, all around the £6-£7 mark. Our choices ranged from Soup of the Day [minestrone] piping hot with baked ciabatta and deliciously filling, cherry tomato, red onions and pesto bruschetta for our veggie guest, perfect calamari served in a tower and perfectly cooked tiger prawns, with an without avocado in white wine, tomato and chilli completed the starters. Main course arrived promptly, all around the £10-£16 range. Chicken dishes are especially tasty and our lamb steaks were cooked to order from pink to cremated - takes all sorts! All served with inclusive vegetables - extras available. Pasta is unsurprisingly well cooked - well it IS Italian! -with various delicious and tasty sauces. All 9 guests were very happy with their choices! We always opt for the full bodied house red and crisply chilled dry white but there is a good range of moderately priced wines to suit all pockets and palates. Desserts were predictably good - tiramisu was creamy as was the cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. Indecision over the ice cream flavours resulted in a makeshift and very much appreciated assortment for our guests. Spirits are relatively pricey at £3-£3.50 plus mixer so not for the pocket conscious. Ambience can be noisy so best to avoid early or late evening bookings. Quieter and more private meals can be enjoyed in the basement annexe. The bill for all 9 of us was £395 - £44 per head - very modest for the meals and drinks we had and the location. This was our 9th or 10th visit. It will definitely not be our last!

“Very nice food, good service”
Reviewed 18 December 2013

We ate here early Saturday evening and were very happy with it. We had made a reservation, but the restaurant was very quiet when we arrived at 5pm. The pizzas are a good size and had plenty of tasty topping. The New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc was one we were not familiar with but was very good and not a bad price for London. The service was very attentive and overall it was a good experience.

“Highly recommended - friendly, excellent food, so convenient for Apollo”
Reviewed 18 December 2013

Attentive service and well trained staff...good choice on the menu, well cooked and presented. Great value wine list.
just a 4 minute walk from the Apollo so I will be returning here a regular basis. Nearly put off by some other reviews on Trip Advisor and having spoken to the Management, some have been posted by some mischievous groups of diners . Ignore them- this is a hidden gem. Not pretentious at all- just a welcoming italina Restaurant offering frindly service and by staff who obviously enjoy their work. Great value.........

“Very very average”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

Hugely benefits by being walking distance to a very large Novotel. Poor slow service. And they got my order wrong so had to wait for a new pizza to be made

“A Lovely Meal”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

We walked in on the offchance and found the restaurant very busy but the maitre d' rustled up a table for two. The food was good, we had the onion and tomato salad to start, my partner had the bream and I had the risotto. We had a glass of chianti each, all excellent. The decor is pleasant and the service was quick but made it such a lovely meal was the waitress. Holly, nice smiley girl, interesting and interested. Well done. If we're passing again we will be back.
