Second stay at this great little budget hotel. Yes, it's basic, shared bathrooms and no frills. However spotlessly clean room with comfortable bed, adequate limitless buffet breakfast and only £52 a night. The low cost makes your money go so much further during your stay in London.

The County Hotel will be my first choice next time in London.

To the people who complain, go somewhere else and pay 3, 4 or 5 times the room rate if you can afford it. And then you would still complain!

We stay in the Euston/King Cross area at least once a month for early Eurostar starts the next day. We're typically budget travelers, wouldn't spend above £100 usually on a room.

The County is horrible. It's a large hotel and the reception doesn't look too bad. The staff were alright, though they couldn't check me in without a paper printout even though I had the reference number on my phone, which is a bit outdated. Also do away with the porter desk, you're employing someone to solely hand out keys? That is what the reception is for. Then you could spend the money elsewhere, because lord knows the place needs it. The old (antique?) tube map in the reception is a novelty, but suspect it's just never been moved from when the place last had a refurb (50's? 70's?)

First disappointment, non ensuite rooms even though no mention of this when booking through hoteltopia. When brought this up with the reception staff they said it was the websites mistake, we'd need to take it up with the booking site. We said can we pay some more to move into an ensuite room, and they said they don't have them. Honestly, what hotel doesn't have ensuite rooms in this day and age? Just call yourself a hostel already.

The rooms look like a 50's catholic orphanage. Bare, run down, old spindly wooden furniture. The TV didn't work, only one plug socket, very basic tea facilities with no milk, scratchy orphan blankets.

The icing on the cake was when we tried to get to sleep, and the noise of the traffic outside roared through the wobbly single glazed unsealable old window all night. I think I slept two hours w/ ear plugs. We were going to ask to change rooms but the reception wasn't manned at 12am. Who knew that 'well this is a budget place' equates to 'pay money for us to keep you awake all night'. Didn't even risk breakfast, just wanted to get to next destination to make up for lost night's sleep.

What a dump.

Places we've stayed in the area that weren't much more expensive and a whole load better: Euston and Kings Cross (Pentonville Road) Travelodges, Arriva Hotel, Swinton Hotel (used to be the worst until we came across the County), Globe Hotel Euston, Clink Hostel, Tune Hotel, just to name a few.

DO NOT STAY AT THE COUNTY. We will not be back.

Room Tip: One in a different hotel.

stayed here again for second time basically down to the location of the hotel being so close to Euston station. The hotel is in need of refurbishment but when in London what you need is a bed and a base, breakfast is average but enough to start your day. Will be coming to stay again when in London. Its very clean and cant fault cleaners at all.Overall a good place to stay.

Over the past few years I have stayed here on several occasions for both Business and Leisure reasons.

While it may not have the best facilities in the world, and the decor is definitely dated, if you are looking for somewhere conveniently located, well priced & comfortable then you can't go far wrong with the County.

Receptionists are always friendly and deal with problems efficiently.

Breakfast suited me well as I am not a fan of fried breakfasts so a bowl of cereal and fruit is perfectly fine.

This hotel is very central to all the attractions, both by being very close to two tube stations, and having bus stops right outside. The room was exceptionally clean, although a bit strange. It was a twin room, but the beds were totally separate, so could easily have been shared by friends as one bed was around the corner from another. Also the bathroom was outside the bedroom. But we were only there for one night and only to sleep. The breakfast was brilliant, and you really could eat as much as you wanted, the staff right across the board were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the whole area of tubes, buses, locations, etc. so this is what you are looking for when staying in London. We could not have had a better weekend.

Room Tip: the receptionist gave us a choice of back or front of hotel. the back was not so noisy so gave us a...

Me and my boy friend from Italy stayed in this ''hotel'' in September 2013 for our birthdays (we were born the same day)
The price is really cheap so we could not really ask for high level standards but still, reception staff was absolutely not aware of anything about the hotel, ignorant and did not care at all.
We asked to move us to another room as the original one was stinking of ashtray/some other undefinable smell and they moved us onto another room which was even worse.

At that point we decided to take a look at the toilets, just horrifying! If your room does not have a private toiler then you better not reserve any rooms in this hotel. Toilets were dirty, just stinky and not looked after. After 3 nights at the County we experienced bed bugs bites all over our body, the first thing we notice was a insects-kill spray on the desk but we never could have imagined something like that. We have been taking antibiotics and medicines and paid for a room that just did us bad. Unbelievable. Only ''good thing''? Location.

Cheap does not mean dirty or full of cockroaches. You'd rather sleep in the street.

Room Tip: We have been in one of the higher floors, but I guess they are all the same thing

If you are after a luxury hotel, look elsewhere. I paid £95 for three nights with full breakfast and it was great value. Refurbishment seems to be complete so no builders hanging around.
Rooms are basic but very clean. The shared bathrooms are kept clean. The breakfast was plentiful and perfectly adequate. Staff at reception and porter's desk were friendly and helpful.
My main tip would be to ask for a room at the back as the road noise will disturb light sleepers.
I always stay at the County on my visits to London and will continue to do so.
