“Jewish comfort food”
Review of Mishkin's - CLOSED

Mishkin's

Neighbourhood: Covent Garden
Description: The boundaries in Mishkin's origins are as ambiguous as the menu's influences. Mishkin's is not Kosher (and neither, incidentally, is Katz's Deli in New York - perhaps the most famous Jewish restaurant in the world) and the dishes are based very loosely on the sort of Jewish comfort food we all love eating.

“Jewish comfort food”
Reviewed 19 April 2014

Enjoyed a quick bite to eat before seeing a show. Exactly what I wanted, nice Jewish comfort food. We had the macaroni cheese, salt beef and smoked salmon bagels and chips with cocktails whilst sitting at the bar, all tasty and typical good deli style delivered with quick, polite service. The cocktails were good and the barman was happy to make up a request.

“A combination of factors made it disappointing”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

What a shame. We had been looking forward to our meal at Mishkin's for a while. However, our evening was one disappointment after another. We started off with wonderful dirty martinis, but then things went awry... The mac and cheese was woefully under-seasoned, they obviously replace the contents of their French's mustard with "blow-your-head-off" English mustard (which was a very unpleasant surprise); the chips were under-done and charging £3.00 for pickled cabbage that comes in a container the size of a contact lense is just inappropriate. At the end of the meal, we waited over 25 minutes for baked cheesecake - which is cold - so why the delay? The toilets clearly hadn't been attended to for some time and the hand dryer did not work.

The above is such a shame - these are fairly minor ailments that, when taken together, really spoil things. This is the first time I have ever done a Trip Advisor review, the reason I've taken the time to complete it is that I LOVE the Polpo restaurants and want Mishkin's to succeed. So there you go.

“NYC in London - fantastic cocktails!”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

This is a really cute place, perfect for a night out with friends or for a date. It has a real 1960s New York feeling to it, great atmosphere with lots of little details making the overall impression really great. The food is what you would expect - great sliders with a perfect beef burger, delicious Reubens sandwich - it is American classics so don't expect fine French dining. The cocktails are the highlight. They are amazing, really really delicious. Especially the Diamond Fizz. It's a stand-out. This is a place that I will definitely come back to!

“Would love to visit again...”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

Went here with a couple of friends on a Friday night and really enjoyed it. It was a relaxed place with a very NY vibe. The service was friendly, the food was yummy and the atmosphere was good. We didn't have time for a dessert due to a theatre booking but would really like to come back here again with a bit more time on our hands...

“Disappointing!”
Reviewed 11 April 2014

Was really excited about going here but unfortunately the food didnt live up to the facade and decor of the shop. The food was just ok and the service underwhelming and at times abrupt.
