“Super service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2013

We stayed here at Marriott Park Lane for five nights earlier this month. Katryn, (and I'm sure I have spelt her name incorrectly), the front desk manager, checked us in and she set the tone for our visit by being wonderfully helpful and efficient. The ladies who worked the Executive Lounge in the evenings were terrific, as were the staff in the restaurant for breakfast. Every morning we enjoyed our breakfast looking out at the park and the traffic swirling around Marble Arch. Our room on the top floor, while not exactly large, had a side view of the park and was very quiet. Overall, our visit was memorable not so much for the accommodation but for the outstanding service from everyone we encountered. Absolutely top-rate.

We have stayed at this hotel before, and had a wonderful experience. However, on this occasion we were let down.

Our room had a large still-wet patch in the entrance hall where a stain had been removed. This didn't dry properly for the 3 nights we stayed. There was also a lack on cleanliness in the bathroom, with a number of hairs present when we checked in. There was also spit on the floor in the corridor to the room.

Worse, there seemed to be a problem with the fire alarms. They went off on 4 occasions while we were in the hotel. On 3 of these occasions it was a short-lived false alarm, but the other rudely awoke us at 6am and then there were no staff present to aid the evacuation of the building. Many guests were looking out of their rooms in bemusement before going back inside, and when we exited the building onto Oxford Street via the stairs, there was nobody present except for some other bewildered, robe-clad guests.

So... At this level of hotel and price-point Marriott delivered extremely poorly on this occasion, and I'm pretty sure I won't be back.

Room Tip: Choose a courtyard facing room; the view isn't much, but Park Lane is BUSY!

Dear SummitSimon,
Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review from your recent stay at the London Marriott Hotel Park Lane. We sincerely apologise for the standard of cleanliness in your bedroom which does not reflect our usual 5 star services. Your feedback and comments have been passed onto our Housekeeping team to investigate and to ensure that this does not re-occur.

The fire alarm was activated on the morning of 24th September due to an incident in a guest room. This was not a false alarm and our fire evacuation procedures were carried out as per our crisis management plan. We had members of our team on each floor advising guests to evacuate the building and unfortunately it appears that this message did not reach you at the time.
The safety of our guests is our number one priority and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. We are glad to report that no-one was injured or any property damaged as a result of the fire alarm. Once again, please accept our most sincere apologies for disturbing you during your stay, we hope that we are able to restore your faith in our property on a future visit to London and we appreciate your feedback and comments.

We spent five nights here recently while on an 18 day vacation. It was our first time to London and we had lots to see! So by the time we returned to our room each day, we were exhausted. We especially enjoyed our comfy bed. We were asked often by employees if they could help us, without being intrusive, and the guys at the Concierge desk went above and beyond in helping us to get around. they recommended a few places for us to go to also. We took advantage of the Executive Lounge for quick bites to eat, especially when we were too tired to go out again. The hostesses there were fabulous! And thank you to the Head Chef for your wonderful food! Kudos to you all! I'll never forget that Chickpea Salad.
The hotel was located around the corner from the Tube which made it convenient for most of our travels. And I really enjoyed seeing all the beautiful architecture around us.

Smaller than you might think from the website, this Marriott is almost boutique-size in some respects. All you'd expect from usual Marriott standards; nothing outrageously plush but clean, high-quality, efficient etc. Room was nice, nothing really special but perfectly pleasant. Staff were friendly and efficient. Exec lounge fairly basic by some standards, but the hotel is not massive. Breakfast was very nice, and the pool in the basement is fantastic; good steam room.

Location just off Hyde Park, Oxford Street, is great. Walking distance to Covent Garden, theatres etc.... if you like walking.

The Marriott Park Lane Hotel is a unique boutique hotel in the heart of London. Service was superb with everyone at the hotel very friendly and courteous. Rooms were good size, clean, and well equipped (by London standards). Gym is excellent with a pool and plenty of cardio and weight equipment for the health conscious traveler.

Location is excellent - close to Hyde Park, Oxford Street, and many other locations.

Bar in the lobby is a nice place to hang out and have a drink.

I would rate this a 5, but we had a terrible room. I booked online through Marriott, as a silver rewards member for a party of three. When I booked the room, I was confirmed for three with a King Bed. The room was tiny and dark, it looked out to a wall, facing another building. I was also charged for a extra bed on top of the other charges. There were no other rooms available to change to, so we did not enjoy the room for the four nights we were there. I would stay here again mostly for the excellent service by the concierge and restaurant service. We booked a package which included breakfast and travel passes. We had a delicious breakfast every morning and the server was this very nice young girl, who was just excellent. I spoke to her manager and was just so impressed with that and the concierge, one gentleman in particular was fantastic, He helped us everyday with train reservations, the big bus hop on hop off, Buckingham palace info for tour, and even recommended a restaurant in a area I was not familiar with St Christopher's Place We were going to Paris next and he gave us some info on Paris too. Every day we were asking him something. I believe he said he was from South American. Hyde Park is across the street and also a main pick-up for the hop on hop off buses, so there are always plenty of buses there. There are 2 underground stations there and made everything easy. Last time I was in London stayed at Marriott St. Regents, bigger rooms, but did not like the location. I will try the Park Lane again on my next trip if I can get a better room. We really enjoyed the beautiful pool.

Stayed her for 3 nights after a trip to Cornwall. This hotel was lovely. The staff was very attentive and the room were nice with comfy beds. Due to the location the price was a bit steep but was able to use Marriott points. But I would recommend to any and everyone. This was a great experience.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the elevator.
