This is the fourth Marriott Property we have visited here in London in the past 18 months or so. It is also our favourite. The size and location play a large part since it is only with 170 or so rooms and a boutique feel. The position right off of Marble Arch and Oxford Street make it an easy walk to just about anywhere in Mayfair and a short taxi ride to the theatre district. It is however, the staff that makes this hotel shine even brighter. It is a difficult time for them....althought amazingly not for the quests....because it is at the conclusion of a long renovation. The executive lounge is about to be changed on this coming Monday as well as the opening of the new reception area. We never in an entire week here heard one sound from the building of hammering nor were we inconvienced in any way whatsoever. I might add that this was a stay on our hard earned points and we were given a lovely room overlooking the park and on the 4th floor. This was not originally offered, but upon a simple request to please if they could find another room a bit higher that the staff at the front desk did their best and accommodated our request. It is, however, a truly busy hotel....at one time it was almost l00% booked and because of this, we truly appreciated the effort they made to make our stay so enjoyable. We met the very remarkable and capable Miles Pooley the General Manager of this property for some years and Sarah, the director of sales, both of whom make the Marriott brand of top notch service and staff what it is. The people in the Executive Lounge....every single one of them....are wonderful! We cannot say enough how hard they work. It is busy always there, and at this time of the year, with many families travelling from all over the world. In this regard, it is so nice, because there are so many people from everywhere and we like this very much. A smile does a lot to reach across the boundries of language and cultures and we found it very interesting speaking to people if only for a few moments eacy day. All in all it was a wonderful stay. They found us a privare guide for several days to take us to some unusual places and he also was someone special. You simply cannot go wrong here. Concierge is valued knows everything about almost everything British!
