“First Stay in London and We Loved It :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2013

We recently stayed in a triple room at the Boka hotel and loved it. We stayed in room 205 which had a double and a single bed with a lovely view of the street outside. The little kitchenette area had a fridge, microwave, small cooker and a toaster which was just perfect and the bathroom was a fair size with a good shower. We were also provided with fresh towels daily which was an added bonus.

We stayed from the 4th to the 8th of July to attend the London Film and Comic Con so due to its very close proximity to Earl’s Court it was perfect. The hotel is also pretty close to Earls Court Underground making it easy to travel. We actually arrived in London about 6:30am on the Thursday and check-in isn’t until 2pm but the hotel allows you to leave luggage in a small safety store room which saved us from hiking our bags around London. The breakfast provided in the morning was great too, you could have cereal or a full English which consisted of bacon, sausage, fried egg, beans and lots of toast with either tea/coffee or fruit juice. It was also very nice to chat to the fellow comic con goers in the morning over breakfast.

One thing I would say is it was very, very hot in the hotel room but we were down in London during the hottest day of the year so that’s not really the hotels fault. For a budget hotel you get more than your money’s worth and the staff are nice and friendly but we especially loved Nimrod the cat who just wanted lots of cuddles. We would happily stay here again.

The hotel is generally nice. The rooms are small, but that's what you get for that price. The beds is sometimes a bed and sometimes just a mattress (we had in our room 1 double bed and 2 mattresses). The room we had contained a refrigerator, an electric kettle and electric stoves.

The hotel is VERY close to Earl's Court tube station (just walking to the end of the street, 2 minutes of walking). This station gets to most of the central attractions (has Piccadilly line and Central line). The hotel is also located near a M&S supermarket, was easy to buy food nearby.

The breakfast in the hotel is very nice. You sit and a nice lady asks you what you want to eat. They serve toasts, jam, butter, omelet, beans, sausages.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor are better than the ground floor (we know that because we switched from the...

Very convenient location - I booked this for my daughter as I wanted her to arrive safe with minimal walking across London to/from Earls Court.
She travelled by Megabus into Victoria, Tube from there to ealrs Court Station and only a short walk to Hotel. Earls Court Exhibition is directly behind the Hotel so very convenient.

The hotel is convenient, only a block away from the Earl's Court tube station (if you go out the back way towards the Earl's Court Centre.) But the "en suite" description is a bit off -- the room did have a couple of shelves for a very old microwave and a tiny refrigerator. The bathroom was very odd -- it had a shower, but you had to walk over the toilet to get into the shower. The wi-fi worked in my room, probably because it was on the second floor and was just above the lobby area, and I thought of turning on some sounds, if only to drown out the noise of the street and the work being done across the hall. The breakfast was fine but nothing to write home about -- toast, ok coffee, and a sausage and an egg. On the plus side, the staff were terrific, gave good advice on where to find things around the hotel, and even printed something out for me on their computer-printer set up.

If you are looking for a cheap hotel to just shower and sleep this is it. Very minimal. I had a three person room and we had a twin and a very tiny double. The location is great. Very close to the Earl's Court Tube Station. It's a in a more residential area so I felt safe walking at night. The two things that could be game changers for some people were that the windows were pretty poor. They made it seem like the people walking outside where in the room with you (We were on the third floor). The other thing was that there was a cut out window at the top of the door leading to the hallway which allowed a large amount of light into the bedroom at night. So if you are a light sleeper this may not be your best option. I think that this qualifies more as a hostel then a hotel but oh well. All an all not terrible.

Please bear in mind this hotel is 2 and not 5 star when writing your appraisal
We found the staff pleasant, the room spotless and the breakfast adequate. It has a few minor faults but such is the good value they are not worth mentioning
One thing I would stress is the mezzanine beds are a bit tricky to clamber down from as the steps are very steep but the kids will love this
Would happily stay again and was perfect for tube to Kensington and museums

Room Tip: i was in 105 facing main street and slept like a log
