“Not 5 Star but Great Value!”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

We stayed here during our 2 day trip from Paris. We only needed one night, and there were 5 of us, so we booked the family suite, which consisted of one large room with a double bed, and two twins, and a private bathroom with shower. We had a street level room in the front, which was a bit noisy at times, but in general, it worked fine for us. The hot breakfast is served in the morning from 7 - 9 am, and consisted of dry cereal (corn flakes or bran flakes), with plates of ham, cheese, and tomatoes on a buffet as you entered. Drink options were orange juice, coffee, and hot chocolate. The hot breakfast consisted of a slice of ham, one hard cooked egg, a large link sausage, pork and beans, and toast. The pork and beans tasted right of the can (Van de Kamps?), but the rest of the food was good. You can have scrambled eggs upon request. The service was excellent, and the staff at the hotel was helpful and friendly. If you need to check your baggage (we were staying for the full day after checkout), they don't really have a formal system, you leave your bag in the lobby, and if you have a backpack with valuables they keep it for you in the office. This made me a little nervous, but everything worked out well and we would definitely consider staying here again! The location is on a perpendicular street to the main street (Euston Street) where Kings Cross train station is located. It is about a 10 to 15 minute walk to some of the hop-on hop-off bus stops that we utilized for getting around London.

Room Tip: Rooms in back of hotel, and would recommend your own bathroom if possible.

I visited this hotel for a weekend in November 2013, I booked a triple room for 2 people as it had an ensuite with it, many of the rooms have shared bathrooms. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from kings cross station, across Euston road. The hotel is an old building, with lots of narrow staircases so it's not suitable for disabled people, it doesn't have any wheelchair access. The staff working there are friendly and helpful, the service at breakfast was very efficient. Our room was clean and today, clean bedding and towels. The shower in the room was fantastic, there was also a decent TV in the room. The breakfast was basic but tasty, sausage, egg, bacon and beans. The toast was lovely thick white bread. The location and price of this hotel makes it a top hotel to go to in central london.

This was our first time at this hotel and I must say we will definitely choose again this hotel. The room that was given to us couldn't have been better. The breakfast offered was excellent.Very friendly and very helpful customer service - staff always ready to help out at all times. For a family this hotel offers good value for money and is located in an excellent area both in terms of commuting and also dining out.

not a great experience - small room, toilet / shower outside, better for low budget travellers. Pos aspects include that it was clean and not too noisy. The location is just across from King's Cross station.

This place is fine if your travelling on a budget, but if you are travelling long haul with plenty of baggage then be prepared to drag your baggage up some steep narrow stairs. The rooms are very small with your en suite built into a cupboard. When you go for breakfast ensure you go early as there are not enough tables and chairs to cater for all the guests so may end up queuing while the other guests have finished their breakfast but decide to lounge at the table and chat for a bit. On saying that, it was clean and the staff were friendly.

Room Tip: If you have lots of baggage ask for a ground floor room or as near to it.

My second stay at this hotel - I stayed here because of a concert at Kings Centre which is nearby. The room (No.11) is small but quiet and comfortable with the shower/toilet 2 floors down. The only improvement for me would be brown bread toast! A charming helpful lass in reception. I will be using the hotel again. Bus service no.205 from Paddington to Kings Cross is also very convenient .

This was our second time staying at this hotel and both experiences were equally good. The location across from King's Cross station is perfect and allows quick access to all of London. We ordered a prepaid Oyster card and were able to use the underground immediately after dropping bags at the hotel. The rooms and bathroom are about as small as they could be, not unusual for hotel rooms in Europe and not a problem since we didn't plan to spend much time at the hotel. We were on the 5th floor and with no elevator had a built in workout before and after the huge complimentary breakfast each morning. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. We will stay here again when we return to London.
