“location, location, location: great”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

The location is great on two levels. It's just 3 blocks from the Holborn station (so you're on both the Central and Victoria lines). And you're 1 block off the main drag of Kingsway, so you get the quiet block with the convenience of being near many pub and dining options. Best of both worlds.

The rooms are small, as you'd expect in London, but clean. The bed and pillows could have been softer. But that probably varies room to room.

My only beef is the staffing. There's only 1 check-in station and for most of the day, just 1 person staffing the desk. There's no cleaning crew after a certain (seemingly very early) hour. The first night we were there, they forgot to make up our room and by the time we got back, the cleaning staff had gone home.

So if you score this hotel at a discount (Hotwire, Priceline, etc.), it's a great deal. You'll be very satisfied. But if you're paying full price, go into it understanding that you won't have a huge staff at your disposal.

This hotel is in a terrific location on west Lincolns Inn fields. Minutes from Holborn station, cross Kingsway and you're in theatre land.
The whole building has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. It has the atmosphere of an apartment building and the concierge is most helpful. The reception area is brilliant, with free internet access via several computers. Plus (great plus) there are several coffee machines with free coffee, and it's really good coffee too! Our party covered two rooms. One standard double on an upper floor. Comfortable and up to date, it was a little on the small side, but more than acceptable. The second room was a 'family' room on the ground floor. This was a triple room, although the third bed was little more than a decent camp bed. Facilities were good but there was no proper window, so there was no view and the room was very dark and claustrophobic. If I was to book another triple room I'd ask for another one. Otherwise, an enjoyable stay and an hotel I'd recommend.

We were staying at this hotel for a quick 4 day vacation in London. We arrived late at night by the underground directly from Heathrow to Holborn. It is extremely easy to find your way if you are not good with trains and with Holborn station being a couple of blocks it is so close. The hotel was updated and had all of your basic amenities and then some. Free bottled water on every floor, as well as USB charging stations (for international travellers) in the room were just a couple of the perks we found to be useful. The hotel was nice and quiet, it was hard to believe we were in central London from inside the room. The customer service was also top quality - one evening around 2:00 AM the fire alarm went off for about 15 seconds. It was obviously accidental and as a result of the disturbance the hotel manager gave us a free breakfast in the meeting rooms the next morning. We didn't even have to complain, they already were compensating us for the wakeup call.

It really was a lovely experience for being one of the more economically priced hotels in central London!

Stayed here a couple of times. Rooms are all fairly standard, although the ones with a "kitchen" - aka a microwave are slightly larger.
I'd recommend getting a room overlooking the park - the other side overlooks Kingsway - which is perpetually busy with traffic and therefore very noisy.
I'd recommend Bills Restaurant (just outside the Kingsway entrance for breakfast.
The Thai restaurant up the street is also good. Couple of nice pubs around the place too - The Ship (towards Holborn) serves a nice pint of Tribute. Heading the other way (towards the LSE) there are plenty of pubs - although they are infested with student types.
The gym is small, with dumb-bells only, but OK for a quick workout.

Room Tip: Get a high level room overlooking the park

A very good hotel for a stop over when visiting the theatre etc. In walking distance of `theatres, China town, restaurants etc. The hotel served its purpose very well.
WE had a room overlooking the front opposite the park/garden area which was very pleasant.

I loved this hotel. Had a cute room on the top floor. Very well designed, great staff,
24 hr nice snacks and tea and the lobby is hip and attractive. The restaurant they
direct you to, affiliated, is
outside and one door away is fabulous...you must go for at least one meal.
ANd, the price for both restaurant and hotel are very reasonable for London.
Great location....about 6 blocks to British museum and Oxford St. (shopping)

Room Tip: lower floors better as elevators are slow.
