Stayed on a Saturday, right in the heart of London. It was a very spacious room and bathroom, large comfortable bed, and so quiet you could hear a pin drop. The location is perfect and I'd happily go back and stay again.

I had a very large room, and there is such an animal in London. It was immaculate, with cooking facilities. The breakfast is not served in this hotel, but down the street a few doors. It was fine, nothing great.

The hotel is on Bedford Place, an excellent location, between two underground stops, Holborn and Tottenham, minutes from the British Museum. Walking distance to British Library and two train stations. Lots of good restaurants nearby, not that expensive.

Problems: it's not a through street, but is it noisy. Motorcycles, buses, trucks, drunks at 4 am. There's no AC, so you need to keep the windows open. There was no clock included, they didn't get me one, and no one could figure out how to change the time on the TV.

The staff is cordial and helpful, but very young and seemed inexperienced. Not much of a concierge service. Perhaps it's better at one of the other locations.

I should have asked to change for a room in the back. It's several old homes put together, so there's a maze of corridors.

Room Tip: If noise bothers you, ask for a quieter room.

We stayed here for three nights And really could not fault it. We were aware that you took breakfast next door ( literally 20 metres down road) and this posed no problems at all. The room was large with a small kitchenette and microwave. The staff were friendly and helpful. The small problem we had with a bedside light was sorted in 15 mins .
The added bonus is its location , only 15 min walk from West End Theatres and attractions - yet situated in a quiet, peaceful road. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We had a basement room, with 2 large windows that allowed plenty of fresh air ( there was no air con...

Stayed 1 night on business.Slightly quaint place. The bar and breakfast is served next door in the sister Clarenden Hotel.
There was a note in my room recommending precautions to avoid theft by shutting the Hotel front door n departure and placing valuables including laptops in the room safe. Fair enough but the room safe isn't large enough for a laptop , an ipad or notepad ok.
Wifi is £10 for 24 hours which is excessive considering it's free in most hotels these days.
Very limited bar area. The room I had was spacious and comfortable but tired with wear and tear in places.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Room 202 - large room on 2nd floor at the front. Very noisy with the windows open at night which was...

The Portland Grange Hotel is a very nice, small hotel on a very short street in London. The street is Bedford Place that is one block long between Russell Square and Bloomsbury Square Gardens. The street is lined with row houses (or town houses, whatever the British call them) along both sides In sense the Portland Grange is part of a horizontal hotel that includes several of the townhouses. The Portland Grange is a bedroom only part of the larger set of hotels. The breakfast room for the hotel is a short distance down the street in the The Clarendon, another hotel in the collection. I also had dinner in the Grange White Hall Hotel and charged it to my room even though that hotel is on the next street. So the collection of hotels makes a middle size hotel even though each part is small.
The rooms in the Portland Grange are large by London standards and they are very comfortable. My room had a small kitchen area and along with a king size bed was of very nice size. The only downside to this particular room was that it was directly below the parlor on the main floor of the hotel. In the morning I could hear people walking on the floor above and it was a squeaky floor. For this reason, even though I really like the hotel, if I stay there again, I would ask for a different room (I was in room 03).
Everything else about the hotel is very nice. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The rooms have all of the desired amenities. And the hotel is right around the corner from the British Museum.

Room Tip: The rooms in the basement may be under areas where people walk in the morning. This can be noisy.

I stayed one night on a business trip. The hotel overall looks a bit dated - or you could consider it 'traditional', depending on your view. The decor was not to my taste, but there were other factors which compensated for this. Pluses were a hugh sash window which actually opened, so that I woke to the sound of bird song and a very quiet location overall. For central London this is amazing. The location is excellent, being 2 minutes walk from the British Museum.

The room had a mini kitchenette in a cupboard, complete with microwave and fridge. There was a wide range of teas to choose from, not just the usual two teabags.

The bathroom, bedding and room were very clean. An anti-slip mat was provided in the bathroom, which I greatly appreciated. The breakfast (in the sister hotel a very short walk away) was freshly cooked and served to the table.

My only criticism was that the service in the hotel could have been more friendly. Check in and check out was efficient, but no more. Service at breakfast was, however, excellent. Setting that aside though, I would stay here again as it's quiet and has an excellent location.

This is a well situated hotel just a short walk from the Russel Square Underground Station and on a silent street. We walked to and from Soho in 30 minutes. On the street one of the bustours started. The room was a studio with a small kitchen.
