“Great value for the money”
Reviewed 11 August 2014

Having just returned from a week at this hotel, I was a bit worried before my stay after reading some of the reviews, but my worries were diminished as soon as we walked through the hotel door. We were greeted by a lovely and friendly young girl who checked us in within minutes, our room was lovely and clean and fresh. The room was a bit hot at nights but there was a desk fan provided in our room which made it a lot easier at nights. We also had the breakfast deal and this proved to be well worth the extra we paid. My only tip would be arrive early for breakfast to guarantee getting a seat. Yes the hotel looks old and dated but Travelode are certainly trying to get there. We would certainly use this hotel again when visiting London.

Room Tip: Would recommend trying to get room 215 on the second floor, quieter at night as it's at the side...

Stayed 4 nights, sightseeing with my daughter, hotel offered everything needed for our stay, twin room en suite, 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross, free breakfast for kids and good selection, basic but comfortable rooms and staff overall friendly and efficient.

My wife, self and daughter and son in law plus 2 granddaughters booked in on the 5th for one stay ,the staff were quite helpful, when we got to the rooms they were like saunas no air con only small fans, open the windows but the noise was unbearable.when we went for a drink there was no bar person there ,had to go to reception for help, had one drink when we wanted another had to go to reception again .None of us slept very well due to high room temperatures.Unfortunatley we had booked for Sat 9th this time with a different room for my daughters family, same problem again only this time it was even worse and one lift was out of action the whole of our stay, drinks in machine were not blending right,if I had the time would of complained there and then but had to catch a train.Other people were also complaining about the heat, etc.A tip give this a miss.

From arrival it was absolute disaster. Worst managed hotel we have ever stayed in. There was a massive queue upon arrival with only one man on reception (with other staff in a room behind reception drinking tea and chatting, despite seeing the ridiculously large queue). After waiting for almost half an hour to check in we finally were served at the desk. The young man on reception did not have a clue what he was doing and the check in was a disaster. He kept forgetting our details and getting them mixed up with others. Finally amongst all the chaos in reception he finally decided to ask for help. When we arrived up to the room the first thing that we noticed was that the bed sheets were absolutely filthy and seemed to be covered in what looked like dried blood, and when lifting the pillow discovered some sort of bug crawling about below it. When paying for breakfast the next morning the same young man on reception once again didn't have a clue and it took about 15 minutes to pay and when we got our breakfast they tried to charge us again, and as for the woman behind the bar, her attitude left a lot to be desired. Very rude and clueless staff, dirty room and we will not be back to stay here again anytime soon. Worst managed hotel we have came across.

The reception and front areas of the hotel look nice and modern and clean but when you get through the corridor you step back in time but not in a good way. The full place needs a refurbishment and it would be a great hotel. Its at the stage where however much you clean it, it still looks dirty. Managed to get a double room for £65 which was a bargain for central London. I only think I got this price because I booked the night before. Also needs air con! My room had an AC unit but it was decommissioned, the room was really hot but I did have a small fan.

After all the advertising on TV and needing a hotel for a three night stay in London we booked this hotel, as it seemed to offer what we required. On arrival it was quite a walk from the nearest station with our baggage. Reception staff were busy and seemed quite harassed! it took quite a while for them to decide which room we were in, after travelling up five floors on a very small slow lift the door to the room had a damaged lock and was unusable, there was no view except of brick walls, was a very small room and the windows did not open! there was no air conditioning and it was unbearably hot. Due to the broken lock on the door we then had to travel back down to reception in the slow hot lift and report the broken door and request a different room. This time the room was on the fourth floor and over looked the main Kings Cross Road so although the windows did open once they were open you could not hear yourself talk, the air conditioning unit in the room only seemed to work at a very dismal rate, they are very stingy on towels as only one bath and one hand towel supplied for two people. we purchased the continental breakfast each of the three days but service was quite poor and each day we had to request refills of the available supplies such as milk and fruit juice. The Hotel was clean but is very tired and seems on its well past due a major refit. we would not return.

Room Tip: rooms at back may be quieter but no air con, some rooms at front did have air con but were very nois...

some Staff very helpful providing cot we forgot to book.
although plenty of space in the bar / restaurant.
Was hard to get the hotel taxi in the morning so had to flag 1 down outside.
