“Good Hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

Very good hotel in a good location. Staff we're very friendly. I have to say I have now stayed in a few Travelodge hotels and have never been dissapointed. They do exactly what they say, If you need to spend a night in a city and would rather spend your hard earned cash enjoying it rather than spending a fortune on a room you will probably only spend a few waking hours then Travelodge hotels are always a good option. The major downside to this Hotel on this occasion as the main Road and the heat. The room had no Air con which meant wither having the window open or having a very warm room, with the main road outside this meant a lot of noise coming in. However the location does make up for this to a point

Room Tip: Request a room at the back of the hotel. Should be quieter than the front

When booked far enough in advance the rooms and great value for money. They offer a welcoming and comfortable place to rest your head after a day of exploring the city. Though are very basic, which always suits me as I tend to be off doing something else in the city so I don't need too much entertainment in the hotel.
Beds and pillows have recently been improved and make for a much easier and comfortable nights sleep. Especially as it is now standard to offer two pillows rather than one!

The hotel is also with in walking distance of all main transport links which makes in very easy to get into city and see the sights.

Would recommend as a cheap and cheerful, basic hotel for when you will be off exploring the city.

First impressions it was a lovely hotel near Kings cross, however, first night the noise from outside traffic and the fact there was no air con meant a very poor nights sleep. Moved rooms to quieter area next day and rest of week improved if it wasnt for the fact other guests seemed to think ok to chatter in corridors and bang doors shut. Be Aware- twin rooms do not have air con and in warm weather this is a night mare.

Having just returned from a week at this hotel, I was a bit worried before my stay after reading some of the reviews, but my worries were diminished as soon as we walked through the hotel door. We were greeted by a lovely and friendly young girl who checked us in within minutes, our room was lovely and clean and fresh. The room was a bit hot at nights but there was a desk fan provided in our room which made it a lot easier at nights. We also had the breakfast deal and this proved to be well worth the extra we paid. My only tip would be arrive early for breakfast to guarantee getting a seat. Yes the hotel looks old and dated but Travelode are certainly trying to get there. We would certainly use this hotel again when visiting London.

Room Tip: Would recommend trying to get room 215 on the second floor, quieter at night as it's at the side...

Stayed 4 nights, sightseeing with my daughter, hotel offered everything needed for our stay, twin room en suite, 5 minutes walk from Kings Cross, free breakfast for kids and good selection, basic but comfortable rooms and staff overall friendly and efficient.

My wife, self and daughter and son in law plus 2 granddaughters booked in on the 5th for one stay ,the staff were quite helpful, when we got to the rooms they were like saunas no air con only small fans, open the windows but the noise was unbearable.when we went for a drink there was no bar person there ,had to go to reception for help, had one drink when we wanted another had to go to reception again .None of us slept very well due to high room temperatures.Unfortunatley we had booked for Sat 9th this time with a different room for my daughters family, same problem again only this time it was even worse and one lift was out of action the whole of our stay, drinks in machine were not blending right,if I had the time would of complained there and then but had to catch a train.Other people were also complaining about the heat, etc.A tip give this a miss.

From arrival it was absolute disaster. Worst managed hotel we have ever stayed in. There was a massive queue upon arrival with only one man on reception (with other staff in a room behind reception drinking tea and chatting, despite seeing the ridiculously large queue). After waiting for almost half an hour to check in we finally were served at the desk. The young man on reception did not have a clue what he was doing and the check in was a disaster. He kept forgetting our details and getting them mixed up with others. Finally amongst all the chaos in reception he finally decided to ask for help. When we arrived up to the room the first thing that we noticed was that the bed sheets were absolutely filthy and seemed to be covered in what looked like dried blood, and when lifting the pillow discovered some sort of bug crawling about below it. When paying for breakfast the next morning the same young man on reception once again didn't have a clue and it took about 15 minutes to pay and when we got our breakfast they tried to charge us again, and as for the woman behind the bar, her attitude left a lot to be desired. Very rude and clueless staff, dirty room and we will not be back to stay here again anytime soon. Worst managed hotel we have came across.
