“Clean, friendly and a good value”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

Stayed here twice in the past month. Excellent value for money! Both rooms had two bedrooms & 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen (dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, plates, glasses, etc.) and washer/dryer for laundry. Both rooms were very clean, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. First room we had was on back side overlooking a courtyard. It was quiet but the bedrooms were a bit smaller (one especially small). The second room we had was on the front side overlooking St. Bart's & Smithfield markets. While it was larger (and was on 2 floors) it was also much noisier. (Smithfield marked is a large meat market in central London and it opens for business at 3am. It was common to hear truck noise most of the night, especially if the windows were open for ventilation.) The location of this hotel is good, a very short walk to Barbican & Ferrindon tube stations, and not far from St. Pauls. Several good restaurants and pubs nearby, some next door! Also a nearby Tesco for groceries. I would definitely stay here again, but I would try to get a room on the back of the hotel to sleep soundly at night.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back of the hotel are quieter.

My wife and I stayed in one of these managed apartments for the first two weeks after moving to London. The apartment had everything we needed, and the location is fantastic, especially if you don't mind walking 5 minutes to the large bus stop at City Thameslink, or to nearby Faringdon station. The concierge went out of his way to accomodate us, at every opportunity. The apartment was perfectly clean and everything was in working condition.

The amenities are good, and out of high summer this could be a good place to stay. We chose the week where summer temperatures in London were 87 or 89 F, and believe me in the apartment that meant high 90s. The problem is that the building did not have air conditioning installed when it was recently renovated. Since everything else is new and good, that's idiotic. Our unit faces West, and even with the curtains closed all day, it's an oven all night - much hotter than the street this week, hotter even than the underground. The concierges are nice, and supplied fans when asked. But the management company ignored the problem, and did not follow up satisfactorily on approaches. They should have been working harder. An evaporative cooler in UK costs less than one day's rent here. They could have been supplied - damn it, I'd have paid to rent one. We have really suffered without help. So: stay here 9 months of the year, provided the heating works. But avoid this and anything else in London that isn't air conditioned in summer, because it can get lethally hot. And expect better.

I have stayed at a few Bridgestreet properties so far and this one is nice, though not one of their best.

The property benefits from a central location in the city and is quite near the Bank offices at Liverpool Street Station / Moorgate / St Pauls. The apartments have the usual amenities that come with a fully furnished serviced apartment. There are some really tall ceiling apartments on the lower floors, though the one I got first had stairs within which went up to nowhere. Thus, I had to get the room changed.

Room Tip: Lower floors have high ceilings, though some have strange planning. Lower floors also get more noise...

As two couples, this two bedroom apartment, when compared to paying for two rooms at central budget hotels, was financially attractive. Michael the Concierge was very personable & gave us a tour of our apartment. There was a welcome pack of cereal, milk, orange juice & even chocolate bar not to mention all the complementary toiletries consistent with the more luxurious of hotels in both bathrooms. Having seen the cupboards full of everything you could need for a Week's stay I was disappointed that we were only staying one night. Only niggle I have is that the apartments aren't air conditioned, although fans were provided to alleviate heat. All in all, at the deal we got we will certainly consider returning. Go on, avoid these sterile Travelodges, Premier Inns and Holiday Expresses and give this place a try!
