We have just returned home after 6 nights in this apartment, (2 adults and 3 children aged 9, 11 & 12) and would highly recommend it to anyone and especially if you are travelling with children like us. The apartment itself is really lovely and totally spotless with all that you need for a comfortable stay. Towels, tea towels, shower gel, shampoo, washing up liquid and washing powder all provided as well as basic cupboard staples such as teabags, sugar etc.
The sofa bed is huge and two of our children actually chose to sleep on it together rather than in the bed because it was so comfortable. It would easily accommodate 2 adults if required and there is the double bed in another room and twin beds in the other room.
The area is lovely and very convenient if you want to travel into the city centre. It takes maximum 10 mins to walk through the beautiful Highbury fields to get to Highbury tube station and 10 mins from there to get to Oxford Street in the underground.
We had a very jam packed time on holidays and were constantly on the go but this apartment is the ideal base for a quieter holiday also. Parking is available which is a big bonus and it is less than 2 hour drive to Legoland.
Everyday, Highbury fields, which is right beside the apartment, was filled with people with barbeques, playing tennis, sunbathing and strolling around. There is a huge play-park for children which is well managed and the whole area is very clean, friendly and safe.
There are plenty of shops around and a post office, butchers, chemist etc as well as lots of little cafes. We ordered Tesco groceries with same day delivery and used just eat to order food from a local Chinese while we were there which was all very convenient.
I know one of my main concerns going with children was how safe the area was and I have to stress how impressed I was. On Friday night, we got into the local station after 11pm because we had been to see Mamma Mia and I wasn’t sure about walking back to the apartment but we did and it was lovely. The area through the park to the apartment was lovely and quiet and very well lit. There were a few couples walking through the park and some teenagers but no boisterous behaviour and I felt very at ease walking with the children even at that time of night.
I’m not going to pretend that everything was perfect about our stay because unfortunately, the greeter was over an hour late meeting us on the day we arrived, which meant we had three tired and hungry children to entertain but not enough time to go looking for something to eat. He then didn’t seem to know which apartment was actually ours and thought he had the wrong keys. He couldn’t tell us about parking vouchers and had to ring the office plus he told us where to park but the next morning, we narrowly avoided a fine because we were parked somewhere we should have been! It also turned out that the fridge broke prior to us arriving but he failed to mention this to us so I put things into the fridge but got up the next morning to discover the fridge was warm. When I rang the greeters the next day, I was supposed to get a call back from maintenance within ten minutes and after one hour, I had to contact them again because this didn’t happen. It was a pity because the email communication from the greeters was great prior to arrival but we were really not impressed by the them during our stay if truth be told.
Having said all this, we were extremely impressed by the owner Ian because when things with the greeters weren’t great, I reached out to him directly by email through trip advisor and he was fantastic at sorting things out from his end and he communicated directly with me on a number of occasions, by text, email and phone call. He ordered a new fridge and had it delivered and also offered to recompense us for any loss of food etc which was very generous. His personal touch dealing with the situation meant we could go ahead enjoying our holiday knowing that the problem was actually being resolved without the need for me to chase things up or without it impacting too much on us.
In the end of the day, it was nobody’s fault the fridge broke and we were very impressed at how quickly and efficiently Ian dealt with things from a distance when he was made aware of the issue.
In short, we would HIGHLY recommend this apartment to anyone going to London. As I said in the title - it is a lovely apartment in a superb location and the host is absolutely excellent. We hope to be back ourselves to stay in the not too distant future. Thanks again for everything Ian!
We enjoyed staying at Fichi in the City. The apartment was nicely appointed and close to a lot of conveniences. It was a tiny bit cramped for four full size people and the dining chairs could use some tightening, but we were comfortable enough. The only downside was not being closer to an underground station. The buses were easy enough to use, but we avoided traveling during peak hours to make it more manageable. Also, the television had a reception problem, but this was not an issue for us as we don't watch much TV.
The location was excellent. It was only 10 minutes walk to the tube station. There were plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable. It looked much bigger than the photographs. We would definitely go back.
Excellent accommodation - clean and tidy. Meet and greet completed without any issues. Easy to find and great neighbour
In a quiet side street near to cafes, pubs and restaurants and football ground. The apartment is clean comfortable quiet and a good size. It has everything you need for self catering. This was my third long weekend stay here and hope to return soon.
We stayed here for 3 nights and it was ideal for the 5 of us.Perfect location close to bus19 and tube.On the occassion that I needed help, the owner Ian responded within minutes which was much appreciated. The kitchen was well stocked with all the basic requirements ie tea coffee sugar etc.
So much better than staying in a hotel with the personal touch.
Thank you again
