“Great stay”
Reviewed 22 July 2012 via mobile

From a very friendly welcome on arrival to the minute we checked out we were very impressed with the Apex. The room was very well appointed and spotlessly clean. The hotel was tucked away off Fleet Street so it was very quiet.

My wife and I spent a week at the Apex Temple Court, and felt very well accommodated. Room was always very clean, bed very comfortable, bathroom spacious with both tub and seperate shower. Closest tube station Blackfriars is 0.5 miles (7 minutes away) from the hotel. Wifi is free of charge in rooms for as many devices as necessary. The location of the hotel is on fleet street close to temple district which is a bit further than more central locations such as Oxford street, Piccadilly, orTrafalgar. Minor inconvenience, house keeping in the morning is heard across rooms and hallways.

I spent two nights here as a 'summer deal' and could happily have stayed longer. The room, superior double, was excellent and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant. The catering side was also very good, both breakfast and evening meals, one of which I took 'in room' which did not have an additional cost for this service. The food was beautifully cooked and presented and was a highlight of the stay. The only blips were technological. The TV did not have all the channels it should have and after they investigated they offered to move me to another room. In the end I decided it wasn't worth it but, sadly, there was no other compensation provided despite a promise of something else. The telephone in the room also proved temperamental, so I couldn't always contact reception. Nevertheless the room was spacious, quiet and the bed was perhaps the most comfortable I have ever had in a hotel. The bathroom was also excellent with good products. If I need to be in this part of London again I shall certainly consider staying there again (if there is a deal available), though I shall check the TV before unpacking!

This hotel is attractive inside and out. It's a little difficult to find, being inside a gate which leads off Fleet street into the courtyard. I did a little Fleet Street tour whilst searching for it! I was greeted at the door by a fellow in a kilt and sporran. I have a weakness for a kilt but it did strike me to wonder why he was in a Scottish get up in the centre of London. We had requested an early book in time which coudn't be guaranteed, but the staff were great and made our rooms available as soon as we arrived. The bar area is large, tastefully decorated and confortable. The lifts are prompt and work quietly. As for the bedrooms - I had a superior room which was very plush, furnished with an enormous bed and a double sofa. There was a huge TV that I didn't have time to make use of. The bed was massive and blissfully comfortable -soft bedding like the princess and the pea! There were lots of mirrors including a full length one, for those ladies reading this, but strangely, there didn't seem to be a clock in the room. The coffee and tea making facilities were good, but tucked away in a cupboard. I didn't find them in time. My room overlooked some kind of building project. Luckily about eight men turned up with a window frame but didn't do anything with it apart from give it a coat of looking on, and then went away again, taking it with them. I would recommend asking for a room away from this area. I had one less than magical moment when I bought three wines and got charged for three glasses of champagne, plus service charge. The staff were very good about putting it right the next morning, and removed the sevice charge, but my feeling is that, since the drinks were very expensive anyway, there should not have been a service charge (I think it was 8%.) I have been all over the place and have never experienced a hotel levying a service charge to serve its own guests, although the other guests I was with seemed to think it was fairly usual. Overall impression - a plush hotel, helpful and polite staff, comfortable rooms, but let itself down on one or two minor points.

Room Tip: At the moment you would be better at the front of the hotel away from the building site.

Stayed here in July for 1 night. Booked with secret escapes.

Superb hotel for the weekend in London, located near temple, chancery lane, holborn, covent garden stations!

Staff were very accommodating and allowed me an early check in which was very helpful.

The room was very modern and very new, enough space to move around, and the bathroom was extremely big for a London hotel with a full bath and double shower. Elemis toiletries is a nice touch.

The Secret Escapes deal included buffet continental breakfast which is OK, just pastries, cereals and fruit. Opted to pay extra for a hot breakfast which, unfortunately, was very bad. I ordered the eggs benedict and the hollandaise with it was awful, my partner had the english breakfast which in turn was cooked badly! Hoping this doesn't sound too picky but for a lovely new hotel would expect the food to be up to scratch!

Other than that would definitely stay here again, bar and lounge are also very well decorated, really nice ambiance.

Room Tip: Superior room if possible

This hotel is a gem, were fortunate to book through secret escapes and got a great deal. The position is central however very quiet. Close to underground. Very clean and the bed very comfortable. Upgraded to a superior room which had a huge bathroom and sitting area. Tea and coffee facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had continental breakfast which had a good variety of choice. Would recommend this hotel.

I have to admit that we used special discount price for our booking, but I checked the regular prices against similar hotels and found them to be lower than other hotels in the area.

Overall, we were impressed with the level of luxury in this hotel - it was modern, spacious, staff were very friendly and helpful, the location is great and the facilities are fantastic, including gym, free wi-fi, big HDTV in room and Sky HD with hundreds of channels.

Overall, if you want your stay to be as pleasant as possible and are prepared to pay a little bit more, I would definetely recommend this hotel as having great price/performance ratio. Definetely recommended!

Room Tip: Ask for room with a balcony - get a good view of Big Ben and London Eye!
