I really enjoyed this hotel. Although we only stayed here a few, short days, we had no complaints. When we first arrived, the man at the front desk was very friendly and outgoing. It's always nice to be greeted by someone with such enthusiasm after a long flight. He helped us with directions, and gave us our room key and wifi password.

The room was small, but hey, it's London. I actually enjoyed how cozy it was.

The bathroom was nice as well. No complaints, and it wasn't too small.

Overall, the experience was great, and the staff was friendly. It was no 5 star hotel, just a cute and cozy nice place to stay with great service. It was also close to both Pimlico and Victoria station.
Thank you for a nice stay!

Overall this is a great place to stay. The room was little, but that is to be expected in London. Quiet and clean. Breakfast was delicious, the owners were wonderful and very helpful. A short walk to Victoria station, some restaurants in the area, convenient and reasonably-priced shuttle to and from the airport.

Stayed in this budget hotel in 2012. The room was small and clean. The door to the room was heavy and awkward to open. There were no extras in this space, No toiletries at all.
The location was very good, felt safe but there was some street noise at night, the windows were not the kind that block out noise.
Went to the reception desk in the early evening to request something and there was no one there! Had to wait about 10 minutes and then finaly looked around and found the employee using the computer in a little nook around the corner.
On the day before our departure the desk clerk was asked to arrange the shuttle to the airport for us, (nice service) but he was really pushing us to just call a taxi.
We insisted though and he finaly did arrange the shuttle. He didn't seem to want to be bothered.

We got an expedia rebate on the hotel, so we chose this over a few other options. We stayed two nights here and were very impressed with the hotel. The room was small but sufficient, and the bathroom was of a decent size with a nice shower. There was a large TV with many channels and also wifi, which was a plus. There was a closet with a safe if you chose to use it, although we did not. The room also had an electric kettle and a wide assortment of tea bags. The breakfast in the morning was a nice surprise--they have the traditional English breakfast but also have a few other choices if that isn't your thing. The family who managed the hotel were very friendly and accommodating. Victoria station is about a 10 minute or so walk away; there are 3 tube lines running through it and the coach station is close, which is why we originally were looking at the Victoria area. There aren't many restaurants in the area though, so that could be a drawback to some. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would return again.

During a trip to Italy and England, my wife and I stayed for four nights at the Luna & Simone Hotel. After stays in Rome and Sorrento, we were surprised at both the price and the size of the room (very small - think Manhattan size with a slightly larger bathroom). Suffice it to say, London is much more expensive than Italy!

The hotel is a family-run operation and one of the co-owners, Peter is quite an engaging person. He was extremely helpful with directions, transportation and shopping ideas. He and the rest of the family worked hard to create a welcoming environment in their breakfast. While not a fan of the full English breakfast, each morning I had yogurt, fruit, cereal and coffee which provided all the fuel needed to get the day off to a good start.

There is no lift in the hotel and our room was on the fourth floor. They did share that information with us before making our reservation and while at the end of the day it was a tough climb, it certainly wasn't a deal-breaking for us. Everything was functional in the hotel, but the choice of lighting, carpeting an other accessories made it feet like a slightly upscale college dorm to me. I honestly don't think it would take much to upgrade these elements, but as they currently stand while functional, it is not the most welcoming or warm place to stay.

Our room was on the street side of the hotel and initially we were concerned that it would be quite noisy at night, but to be honest, we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. We had no problem sleeping and even in the mornings, our sleep was not interrupted by the movements of other guests.

The hotel is located near two Tube stations. The Pimlico station is much closer (5 minute walk) than Victoria Station and we used Pimlico the majority of the time.

We did have one ongoing issue during our stay which was a big inconvenience. On two of the evenings the wi-fi was not functional in our room. When we approached the night guy, he seemed very uninterested in helping resolve the problem, indicating he would tell the day staff to address the problem. At the end of the day we were relying on the wi-fi to both upload images, social media and Skype family back in the US and we were unable to do so. Each day Peter simple rebooted the router and the problem was fixed. The night staff either needs to be trained in how to do this simple procedure or perhaps needs greater motivation to make their guest's stay a better experience.

During our trip to Europe, this was the only accommodation that we stayed in that was a Rick Steves recommendation. While functional, it was the least enjoyable experience during our trip. If you are looking for a value hotel with little ambiance or charm, this is a suitable choice. If you are desire more, look elsewhere.

Room Tip: If you can't do steps, book early and ask for a lower floor.

This hotel is in a quiet area with a ton of other hotels. Not many restaurants nearby but Victoria station is only about a 10 minute walk away. True that there is no lift, but that was only a problem when I had to cart my suitcase up at the beginning of my trip. I'm not a fan of the full English breakfast, but it was convenient. The hotel really is very good, the guys who own it are so efficient, and their employees were so helpful and absolutely charming. The rooms are small, but who goes to London to stay in their room? It has everything you need and is especially clean. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: If you book early enough, you can probably get one on a lower level floor.

Luna and Simone Hotel 47 / 48 Belgrave Road, Victoria, London

So what do I think of the Luna and Simone Hotel? There are two points of excellence that come to mind for the Luna and Simone: 1) the location and 2) the family who owns it.

1. This hotel is conveniently located between Victoria and Pimlico stations so it’s so easy to get back and forth from every attraction. We used Pimlico station. In addition Bus 24 stops at the front door of the Luna and Simone which makes it so convenient. You can actually tour London by getting on and off Bus 24. It’s that simple. Buy day passes, and use both Pimlico Station and Bus 24 for that will quickly get you everywhere you need to be. It’s that easy and convenient.

2. London is vibrant, but it can also be impersonal. The Desira family own and manage the Luna and Simone. The entire Desira family is warm, friendly and helpful. Every member of the family provides exceptional service too, and Mark shines bright in a family of stars, so bright in fact that when he is not working on the front desk, a guest will notice something missing. His presence is huge and bright and this carries over to a travelers overall experience in London, and this is necessary in today’s London. Mark and his family are a striking counter-balance to most of the very rude, brusque, and impolite Central Europeans who dominate the service industry in London and ironically set the tone for travelers. Mark and his family, on the other hand, treat guests with respect in the Luna and Simone. You can’t put a price on that.

The family also prepares and serves breakfast. Again, customer service is a priority in the breakfast room and we absolutely enjoyed the family members who cooked the breakfast, served it, and cared for us there. They are warm and friendly, and fast! – but not too fast as to miss a conversation with you. Absolutely I looked forward to talking with them every day.

You notice that I don’t include price as a reason for staying here. London is totally over-priced.

This has little to do with the Luna and Simone. You never get a really good deal in London, and it makes me wonder how the English can set the pound as so much more valuable that most of the world’s currencies. London is ridiculously out of line. In all cases, if you are offered a price, be sure to bring your emails with you. Even Mark asked me if I had my emails stipulating a price, and I surprised everyone by having them. So I wouldn’t say price is a determining factor for any London hotel and that includes the Luna Simone. All London hotels are pricey.

Our room was located in the basement across from the breakfast room. If you look at the reviews written by travelers who gave a less than happy rating to this hotel you can see that some stayed in this same room. It’s basic, and to be truthful, it could use some brightening up.

One final point - We didn’t realize that the Luna and Simone Hotel is recommended by Rick Steves whose guides are often mis-used as cook books for travelers who can’t research and plan on their own. More often than not, we stay away from Rick Steves’ recommendations even when his recommended places have a vacancy. Nevertheless we were both happy with the Luna and Simone for reasons other than the room itself.

The location and family who manages the Luna and Simone are superb and therefore we would likely stay here again if a room is available.
