“Excellent hotel, would stay again.”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

The hotel was exactly what we'd hoped for; very handy for the train/underground, clean with excellent service. The staff were very helpful and went over and above to make our stay as easy as possible. We had chosen this hotel partially on location and partially due to the availability of triple rooms.

The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice, even right up til the end. There was a free coffee machine in the kitchen which could be used at any time and the facilities in the rooms were excellent for making tea etc. The only small complaint was the lack of water; there was no tap in the public kitchen and we were advised not to drink from the taps in the room. The fridge in reception didn't seem to have water available for sale either, although the receptionist kindly gave us a bottle of two from behind the desk.

The rooms were clean and tidy and we had no complaints about our stay there.

Room Tip: The twin room in the basement was particularly spacious compared to the triple on the second floor...

Dear Louise,

Thank you for a short and sweet review. It was overwhelming to read your feedback.

We generally don't advice our guests to drink tap water. We supply complimentary water bottles in the rooms. For your extra convenience there is also a vending machine in the reception lobby where you can buy water and soft drinks. The information is also available on our website.

London has a lot to offer in the coming months. We’ll look forward for a reunion this summer.
Warm regards,
Abida.

l have stayed here on numerous occasions previously as the service/friendliness of staff and excellent location are paramount. It is very close to all transport in/out of Victoria. The Receptionists are professional/helpful/welcoming and are happy to book transport to Heathrow etc.. It is extremely helpful to be able to leave luggage before check in/after check out.
I requested a particular room and this was available for me on arrival and was clean and well presented and the shower had excellent water pressure! The healthy breakfast makes a great change from the greasy full English served at a lot of hotels! I recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

Room Tip: I usually ask for the ground floor, although there can be (minimal) street noise, this is not usuall...

I chose this hotel because it was cheap, I booked it last minute and I needed a hotel in central London near to my work/ social commitments. I stay in hotels regularly with work- most more expensive than this but this place really did the job in terms of simple clean accommodation, central location and value for money. The fact that the reception staff were really friendly and helpful and the reception and breakfast areas were clean and tidy and bright helped the experience. I had a double room on the first floor- it was basic but really clean- the bathroom was very clean with new fixtures and fittings, the shower worked fine and the bed was okay for one night. The room had a small kitchenette that was a useful addition- you can microwave meals etc if you choose .Breakfast was basic but what you would expect for the price- reasonable choice of cereals and coffee passable. I was pleasantly surprised and I will definitely choose this place again for cost/ location

Room Tip: choose a room on upper floors if possible- rooms in the basement probably not as great

We booked this at £114 for one night including breakfast as it was directly opposite the Passport Office so renewing a passport was quick and easy.

On approach to the hotel we passed a bedraggled soul sleeping in a wet doorway and sleeping bag. Whilst he would have appreciated a proper bed at the hotel for the night, what we found was rather basic for the price. That said, we were warmly received and were given a room on the first floor - two double beds squeezed in and a toilet/shower room - all rather tatty but clean. We actually slept well and the mattress was soft and comfortable. A lot has been said about the breakfast so we were surprised how good it was - plenty of cereals, pastries, cheeses, breads (plain and wholemeal), yoghurts and a good range of preserves. The coffee was spot on - unusual for some basic hotels. The staff serving were friendly, polite and efficient. As reported previously, the one lift works at snail's pace and is also used by the friendly cleaning staff moving trolleys up and down - so more often than not, we used the stairs - the odours of which were not overly pleasant.

Overall - would we stay again - probably not.

Dear Gordon,

Thank you for marking us high in cleanliness, customer service and the facilities. We’re glad to know you overall enjoyed your stay.

Apologies for the inconvenience regarding the lift. It does get a bit busy during the breakfast timings when guests are also checking out.

Your feedback is passed on to the hotel management who is looking into the weak areas you’ve highlighted in your review.

We hope to welcome you back soon again.
Kind regards,
Abida.

I had stayed at this hotel many times in the past and found it to be adequate. However on my last visit my room was broken into while I was in it sleeping! The basement room door had no safety chain and the staff was aware of and had reported a broken kitchen entry door. However, no one had bothered to fix it. All of my jewelry, phone, passport, cash and credit cards were taken. The hotel assumed no responsibility for any of it. Neither did their insurance carrier stating that "the hotel was in no way negligent or responsible" for my loss. No one has ever bothered to contact me further to offer any amends. Don't stay here if you value your possessions!

Room Tip: Don't stay on anything on the ground level.

This hotel is quite adequate if all you want is a bed and good location, behind Victoria station. The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. Room layout is good with adequate room and usual facility's (tea, coffee etc.) shower was very good, breakfast was average continental but quite acceptable (note to staff need to make sure enough cutlery) My only bad comment would be there is only one lift and it can take quite a while for it to get to you as it is very slow. All in all a decent hotel by London standards and I would stay there again, in fact I am in February 2014

stayed at room 119 on January 24-26 2014. booking and prepayment was done using the service at Agoda.com. arrived late (2100 hrs) with no advance notification of late arrival but this was no problem. room key was ready and voucher from Agoda was cleared with no problem. had to request a second keycard to the room even if the booking was made for two adults.
location of the room was good, not far behind the reception on ground floor. doors and hallways are really narrow so a bit struggle to get a big suitcase dragged to the room.
room was tidy but really tiny. small desk with no chair to sit on. ok bed but bathroom door could only be opened like 75 degrees angle due to it hitting the bed. would estimate 70cm clearance between bed and wall. small tv on the wall, limited possibility to tilt it towards the bed, with good quality digital reception and good selection of tv and radio channels. hair dryer was a joke. small coffee station with instant coffee, cups and a water boiler. no minibar, not even the fridge left to store stuff in.
first night was ok, quite hot as we did not use the ac. second night was a nightmare due to doors slamming and a lot of noise from rooms above and beside us. guess you can blame it on the guests not respecting other guests but in general noises traveled easily througout walls and ceiling.
on the first evening we got free internet vouchers upon request at the reception. need one voucher per device just in case you have laptop/ipad/phone. signal was good but backend solution was really old and could use refurbishment. first it is really hard to enter username/password on a mobile phone from a webpage desigend to be used on a laptop/desktop, secondly we only got one out of three devices logged on due to being dropped off the network even if signal was strong. not a big problem as we were not on a budiness trip and were dependent of connectivity. when we asked for renewed vouchers the second day we had to give our room number and was prompted with internet was not included in our booking but we could pay for it if we needed it. hellooooo.... this is 2014, free working internet is as a natural a service as toilet paper and towels.

all in all even though i might seem to complain a bit the stay was pleasant. most of the staff was very friendly and checkin/checkout went fast and without trouble. atleast our room was in real need of some upgrade, bathroom had seen better years but cleaning staff did a good job. i would have no problem staying at this hotel again, but i would not pay USD $160 a night the next time. get a room at USD $100 a night and you have done a good deal.
