Owner description: The Savoy Theatre is currently home to Gypsy which stars Imelda Staunton, Lara Pulver and Peter Davison. Don't miss Gypsy, one of the greatest ever Broadway musicals, as it transfers to the West End following its sell-out, rapturously acclaimed five-star run at Chichester Festival Theatre. Imelda Staunton delivers a 'knock-out performance' (The Independent) as Momma Rose in Jonathan Kent's 'dazzling revival' (Mail on Sunday), alongside Lara Pulver, who reprises her 'stunning' (The Independent) role as Louise. They'll be joined by Peter Davison as Herb, in this gloriously entertaining musical fable that features 'showstopping' (Mail on Sunday) choreography from Stephen Mear. Based on the true life memoirs of legendary burlesque entertainer, Gypsy Rose Lee, it tells the tale of Momma Rose and her two daughters, Baby June and Louise, trekking across America in their family vaudeville act. But times are changing, audiences are expecting more, and the two girls have their own ambitions in mind. The rise of burlesque is upon them, and nothing will ever be the same again for Momma Rose. With lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by Arthur Laurents and music by Jule Styne, this moving and 'scintillating' (The Times) production of Gypsy is the first to be seen in London for 40 years.

“Dirty Rotten Brilliance”

First time I had ever been to the Savoy Theatre and what a great place it is. We had front row seats of the dress circle which had plenty of legroom and an excellent view of the stage. Really is a great venue. The show itself was fantastic with brilliant performances from all the cast. Real laughs and great music...thoroughly recommend this venue and show.

“A Great night out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2014

Before this I was not a huge Robert Lindsay fan, but he turned in a first rate performance last night. Whilst I did not come out humming any tunes it was still a great evening out. Superb supporting performances from Rufus Hound and Samantha Bond great set and enthusiastic singing and dancing from the chorus.

“Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”

What an absolute joy this show is!! I could not fault a thing, what made it for me was that the cast seemed to be having as much fun starring in the production as we did watching it! I loved the costumes too...and the sparkling diamonds!! Icould quite easily have stayed for the evening performance!!

“Robert Lindsey Superb!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2014

In April went to see a play with Robert Lindsey at the Savoy Theatre - Dirty Rotten Scoundells... it was superb - the actors were fabulous and held your attention all through the first and second acts. Robert Lindsey had the energy of a man half his age - absolutely brilliant, highly recommended the play. However, the theatre is not one of the best in London, it has very tight seats with not much leg room and are very steep when you are seated here. Best avoid the circle seats if you are taller than 5.6ft and are not able bodied.
