Description: The Lamb Tavern has been a part of the tapestry of the City of London since 1780. We are a British pub with a beautiful dining room overlooking Leadenhall Market. Situated adjacent to Lloyd's of London, and within minutes of Bank, Monument, and Liverpool St Stations, it is a majestic venue over three floors, leading onto the cobblestones of the iconic Leadenhall Market. The Lamb Tavern also provides exclusive hire venue at the weekends to hold unique Weddings, Events and Celebrations with a license until 1am. The original building had a large lead roof hence the name Leadenhall, and although it's not certain it was built as a public place- by the end of the 14th century it was firmly established as a market and for many years was the site of the City granary.Unfortunately the original Leadenhall was badly damaged in the Great Fire of 1666 and was rebuilt in its present form by Sir Horace Jones. It continued to function as a market as the majority of the traders were fishmongers and butchers and even today there remains a butcher in Central Avenue. Please be aware we have no step free access in the pub & do not have accessible toilets. The Lamb Tavern site itself has grander origins than the 14th century market. It directly overlies the Roman Londinium Basilica, which was a large building used by the Romans for judicial and commercial purposes. Built in 50AD and then rebuilt in 120AD, the Basilica was then the largest building of its kind except for the Basilica Ulpia in Rome itself. It was over 500ft in length (about the size of St Paul's) and to the south lay the forum filled with a whole host of stalls, shops and workshops selling goods and services to those who used the Basilica. The Lamb Tavern as a place to take refreshment adjacent to the market continues the tradition first established in Roman Britain almost 2000 years ago.

Set in Leadenhall Market, this exquisite "old relic" has been fully restored to its glory of a bygone age. Not overly large but full of character & atmosphere. Do yourself a favour & climb the steel spiral staircase and eat upstairs. Food was the typical English fare found in most London pubs, simple and tasty. Staff very helpful with directions.

This is what it says: its a great Youngs pub in the middle of Leadenhall Market. Its really "sawdust on the floor" and various eminent persons have pulled pints here The pub food is simple and straightforward: but theres no seating really. You can sit outside and soak up the atmosphere of the market but its not a quiet drinking place!

There is a restaurant upstairs and a wine bar below which I am not including in this review. These offer different products completely

Was over in Uk for a visit and as always wanting the beer I miss so much and found the lamb as we were walking throuh leadenhall market. It is great to see a pub thats not been ponsified to death. The beer was good atmosphere as you would expect of a pub and the food simple but tasty. Will definitely pass by next time I am in the Uk and in the city-

This is a very nice old Pub. We stopped in after a long tiring day because I wanted my family to have an off the beaten path more local experience. We went to the bar to order beer and food....we were a little nervous as we didn't know the beer brand so we weren't sure why to drink. The bar tenders could not have been any nicer to my sister-in-law and me! He didn't just recommend beer, he poured a few of his favorites for us to try and discussed each. We also ordered fish and chips and a pub burger - The American. Food was exactly as expected and surprisingly good. The burger was A+ exceptional! Atmosphere is great and just fun to play local for a day. Highly recommend.... Unless you don't want to hang with professionals from their work.... If you just want to be a tourist, go somewhere else, don't ruin this place..... And dress a little better to go there.

I recently had a friend visit me in who is not from London and wanted to see the sites. As we walked Through Leadenhall Market we stumbled across The Lamb Tavern. I asked a member of staff behind the bar if they did food and I was shown upstairs. We were seated promptly by a friendly member of staff and given menus. We ordered a bottle of wine and 2 starters and 2 mains. The food was delightful and was great British wholesome food. The wine was also great.
I would recommend here as not only were the food and wine great, the service received was friendly but professional and we always felt we were being looked after from as soon as we entered the pub until we left.
