There have been some negative reviews of the wine bar,the ground floor pub, and the mezzanine bar but this review is about the top floor restaurant.
The room is L shaped with picture windows overlooking the enclosed Leadenhall market crossroads. The tables are generally of 6 or 8's but the staff will break them up into smaller sections.
Classic English Country Pub Grub-bangers and mash, liver and onions, leg of venison, game in season, big steaks etc etc but be warned-the helpings, for the English at least, are very big.
The food is however excellent, the chef knows his stuff, and the puddings are guaranteed to put on a few lbs.Decent wine list including some New World Pinot Noir
Good atmosphere, cheerful service although we did have to do a touch of the "Winner napkin waving" to get top ups of wine as the place was full on the day of our lunch.Do make a reservation.
Not cheap, but if you have a good appetite then it is an atmospheric place to lunch.
