We have been all over the world but have never stayed in a place as bad as this. We started to make a list of things that were not right and ran out of paper!! Anyway, here are some of the issues we faced:
- Both pillows were used; had to ask them to change pillow cases. The beds had plastic covering on the really thin mattresses below the sheets
- Unclean room, dust on shelves, dirty curtains, torn carpet (tripping hazard)
- No attached bathroom although our booking was with one. Had to go to a public toilet outside the room which turned out to be used and not cleaned. And had been smoked in.
- No towels in room, when we asked for these we were first pointed to a used towel in the public toilet. Upon pressuring, we got one towel each, had to fight to get more towels
- Pedestal fan worked only at lowest speed. The receptionist was unable to find a replacement
- No tea/coffee, no TV in room. No shampoo or conditioner. No soap in toilet.
- One bedside lamp not working. Dirty glasses in room. Only one power outlet in room which was used for the fan.
- Only get boiled eggs and toast for breakfast. No pepper because pantry was empty. If you are late, no orange juice because jug is finished. Had cereal but no fruits. Had to ask for spoon.
- Lock on door could not be latched open. Had to ensure we carried key to toilet to avoid getting locked out of room.
- Very noisy. This is like a hostel with students looking to crash cheaply as groups in small rooms.
- No wi-fi, even if you wish to pay for it.

It turns out that Earls Court is a bad area to look for decent accommodation. Avoid if possible. We moved next morning to another place and we are ever so glad that we did.
We think that Trip Advisor should de-list this establishment from their recommendation.

This place was economical, super tiny, 3 beds, in a one bed room. Our luggage had to sit on top of the edge of our beds, no space. Non smoker, but people smoke in the hallways, outside the rooms. We couldn't open the door to room, the carpet was was not glued down or nailed down. The shower was just a curtain next to toilet. The toilet flush broke down.
The only good thing of the place was the location, next to the metro, easy to get to.
They did serve breakfast.
No fancy anything, bare essentials.

We booked a week at this place based on its description as being a budget hotel- nothing fancy but clean and comfortable and convenient. It was convenient but that's about it.
First- the room was crammed with 4 single beds set up like a jigsaw puzzle, with barely room to walk sideways between them. Nowhere to put luggage. No closet. Sagging curtains. Light fixtures that didn't work.
Second- 3 of the beds had mattresses that must've been at least 50 years old with the springs just about poking through the fabric. I had to use 3 of the wafer thin pillows to pad the mattress surface enough to not feel the springs at night. It was like sleeping on the ground. The other 2 beds were only 30 years old!
Third- the "en suite" shower was ridiculous. A metal shower stall was stuck in the middle of the room with no ventilation at all. Not sure if it was even plumbed since we didn't want to try using it. The common showers were of the same type, rusty and dingy with poor drainage but at least the water was hot. Surprisingly, the toilets and sinks were fairly clean.
Fourth- The room stank and the carpet was so dirty we didn't want to walk barefoot on it. I was afraid to look under the beds until the day we left and its a good thing I didn't. Ick again.
Fifth- We had to pay for our entire stay upon arrival without having a look at the room. We were charged an extra 8 Pounds to use a credit card. No refunds. So even though the room was substandard, we couldn't leave to find other accommodations.
Sixth- the weather turned damp and cold. The ancient electric heater on the wall turned on but didn't produce heat. We were cold every night. They must've known this because the housekeeper left a pile of extra blankets for us to use...thank goodness!
The room was so awful that we didn't want to return to it every night but stayed out until we were exhausted so as to not have to spend as few conscious as possible there.. Couldn't wait to leave and when we did, hoped to God that the next places we'd booked for the remainder of our trip to the UK wouldn't be anything like the Windsor House was. They weren't.

We are a small B&B Hotel, right in the centre of London - offering clean and comfortable budget accommodation at an affordable price. We point out very clearly in our pre-reservation correspondence that we offer a homely, no frills, ideal stopover facility - with stairs to all floors - and with all of this made very clear - expectations versus price need to be considered.
Guests who cannot reach higher floors, or who have more sophisticated requirements - over and above budget accommodation - a clean bed, a good hot shower, helpful staff and a free and copious breakfast - need to Pay a higher Price for greater facilities. .

Here we point out that three adults in high season paying approximately £90 per night all inclusive in the centre of town need to consider whether they could have afforded a 3/4/ or even 5 star facility to better suit their needs ?

Above all - guests who stay 8 nights - without notifying any concern of any sort to our Reception managers - could obviously, at any stage during their stay, have either requested early departure - with part refund - or a room change - lower floor - an extra heater in the room - whatever the concern. Our staff are guest oriented and willing to help - and would have done their very best to address any issues and assist.
Mattrasses are changed on average every 18 months - as they suffer weighty use - and we have a stock of harder / softer mattrasses - if requested.
It is clearly more logical to approach Management during an 8 night stay and express issues/concerns in order to permit rectification/ or even organize a refund and early departure.
Any establishment be it a restaurant, B&B, or a multi-star rated hotel - at any category - can find that they have guests/diners whose requirements do Not match.
In such cases - it is generally best to agree that it's the wrong cup of tea - and cut a stay/meal short.
Opinions vary - as do reviewers - and Management response is always aimed at being both reasonable and logical.

Throughout the last 15 years I have stayed at many b&b´s in London, and have to say, Windsor House Hotel is by far the worst! On the plus side it´s only 3 minutes walk to Earl´s Court tube Station and the staff is very friendly. But there are so many minuses these pluses are outweighed! The rooms are very small, the bathroom is about the same size as a telephone booth (literally!), my husband (1,98 m tall) could´nt fit into the shower. All night we were disturbed by banging doors and partying Teenagers (and we´re none too picky). The worst about Windsor House Hotel is the filth, the rooms were very unclean: The floor was covered in other people´s hair, which stuck to your feet walking barefoot....gross! I won´t mention the state of the washing basin...If you care about Hygiene don´t go there!

A word with our very kind Reception staff at any time during a guest stay will elicit instant action and response on any guest concern - and most establishments are bound to confirm that ' communication' in situ is a lot better than an adverse comment thereafter - once it is too late to rectify.
We are going to take issue with these comments.
Firstly, all rooms are cleaned 100% daily with full attention to all detail and verified thereafter. All carpets are henry-hoovered, all washbasins are pristine clean and shining - and dusting and polishing are on-going and endless. We can't do much about providing extra- tall showers - but the showers are there as per website, of standard size in both height and width - and they are clean and provide hot water - as is their remit.
4/5 star graded hotels do provide courtesy slippers - but for a modest budged price B&B - the guest should think to bring his own - if he/she worries about walking on carpets.
Children can be noisy - we agree - however, there again - a word with Reception if close-by kids/ families are boisterous will allow us to request that they quieten down.
We can only say that comments can vary widely on guest opinions of any B&B/Hotel - and that a great deal often boils down to price versus expectations.
a lot of our guest comments are positive and fair and of course, we appreciate this - and also the fact that Management response is possible - especially where the establishment takes issue with the comments.
We are really sorry to see that you were so unhappy - as our sole aim is to provide very fairly priced, modest home from home budget accommodation for our guests and to do our very best to ensure that they have a happy and comfortable stay.
The Management.

First of all the name of this place is quite misleading. It's a guesthouse, not a hotel.
It's a budget accommodation so we didn't expect much and it fully met our expectations.
The room was very small, but then again we just needed some place to rest our head. The small bathroom cabin was dated but cleaned properly. In general the rooms were clean, although lacking some attention to detail. The vent encrusted with dust in the bathroom is just not acceptable and i didn't really trust the cleanness of the carpet.
We skipped breakfast was only cereal boxes, toasts and eggs and got some decent breakfast elsewhere. Entering the breakfast room/kitchen was an adventure anyway as the steps are quite steep and you have to work your way around cleaning equipment and laundry.
Overall it all felt a bit sloppy and they could do with updating the rooms.
It was perfectly adequate for our stay in London. A great plus that it's only a minutes’ walk away fro the tube station. But would we stay here again? Probably not.

Although this "hotel" is in a fantastic location for tourists, the place is disgusting.
There are steep flights of stairs leading up to the rooms and the managers just sit on their chairs and watch you struggle to lug a heavy suitcase up them with no offer to help.
The rooms are tiny, bed is rock hard and uncomfortable and I felt like I might catch something if I slept on it!
There is a shower in the corner of the room, it appears to have not been cleaned properly in years. There is dust everywhere.
Not at all what I was expecting. You would be better off staying in a hostel!

The Windsor House Hotel, Earls Court was the first stop of a 6 week trip for us Kiwi's. We had never travelled to Europe and we were with our young daughters so we were quite apprehensive about the entire experience - I shouldn't have worried. The staff, even before we travelled were prompt on the email with my questions, our flight arrived in early "no problem, bring your bags over to the hotel and we'll take care of them for you". Direct tube access from Healthrow and a small walk to the hotel, really easy to find. Yes the rooms are tired and need a bit of repair, but they are clean and homely. If you are wanting just a place to lay your head at the end of the day, access to a kitchen to cook your own meals, a piece of toast and tea in the morning included in the very reasonable price, with nice friendly staff who make you feel welcome, then this is the place.
