Staying in the Shoreditch area for a month we discovered Ozone on Beanhunter and were glad we did. We visited several times for coffee and lunch and twice for breakfast. Not a large menu, but well thought out and the Eggs Benedict with sweet potato bubble and squeak rather than english muffins was superb. To top it off the house coffees are excellent and our meals were delightfully accompanied by caffe lattes.

The cold drip coffee was excellent, and it was a pleasant place to hang out. However one coffee came to £6.85 once tax and service charge were added to the bill.

When we're exploring a new area, we love to discover the best coffee we can find, and Ozone topped a number of lists in this respect. Tucked away in a corner of Hoxton, we were lucky to stumble across Ozone on the way to our hotel. When we were looking for breakfast the next day we decided to head there and see if the buzz about the place was accurate.

Ozone is based in an unassuming former warehouse block, with the ground floor given over to the main coffee bar. The serving area is surrounded by benches with stools, which on a busy Saturday morning were full of apparent regulars with their skateboard-sticker adorned Apple Macs out. The staff are swift and efficient, though predictably a little to cool to indulge in small talk. We were seated downstairs in a basement area which is set up with booths and tables rather than benches. These share the area with the coffee roasting equipment, which made for some interesting views and fantastic smells of fresh coffee.

The breakfast menu is small but well-selected, and the food is very good with surprisingly generous portions for an establishment like this. I had an English Breakfast which came with wonderful sourdough toast, perfectly poached eggs and crisp streaky bacon. The advertised black pudding didn't feature though - which is a pet hate of mine as it's by far my favourite breakfast food! In fact, I'm docking a mark just for this!!! My wife had a smashed avocado bruschetta, which looked like a work of art, with shaved pickled radishes covering the generous helping of avocado. We also shared a helping of cornbread which was delicious and buttery.

The coffee was also excellent - well-prepared drinks, using an acidic but full-bodied roast which might not be to the tastes of those who don't enjoy strong coffee flavours. I loved it however, and would happily visit again just for a quick cup of coffee.

Ozone is a cool, busy place to hang out with a really great menu and reasonable prices. The biggest problem will be finding a seat at busy times.

On a little back street in Shoreditch this place is as cool as you'd expect, full of young friends and couples and the occasional laptop lugging worker. The kitchen is open in the middle of the large warehouse style room with a bar running round it you can sit at if you like. There's also tables round the outside for a more private feel but my girlfriend and I sat at the bar.

Coffee is obviously an art here with unusual offerings on the menu but we stuck to our usual flat whites and were not disappointed! Food looked incredible and will definitely be back to try it and the atmosphere was perfect to sit and chat and observe the chefs busying themselves.

Will be back soon!

I was contemplating of writing this negative review, but we were very disappointed with the food and the service in Ozone Coffee Roasters. Lets start with the service; we ordered drinks that came mixed up, and the food took 45 minutes to order. We had to call the waitress to take our order and we were totally ignored.
Regarding the food; we wanted to try several things from the menu but they run out of many things. After the food came, the portion was so small and we were still hungry afterwards (see the pic). When you pay 10pounds for eggs benedict you expect it to "swim" in hollandaise sauce, but in this case there was so little of it. The food itself was decent, freshly made, a bit under-seasoned. We tried Ozone's coffee after our meals, which was nice but they only had 2 out of 4 blends. A funny thing, there was a jar on the table which suppose to have sugar in it and it was salt. When we told this to the waitress she started to argue with us that it was definitely sugar and then she finally realised it was salt. Towards the end of this experience, the bill came, which had extra things on it we didn't order. I would not go to Ozone again because of the bad service, small portions, over-priced food, but maybe it was our unlucky day.
