Owner description: Lower Marsh Market One of London's oldest and best-loved market streets, featuring some of the capital's most fascinating independent shops and restaurants. The Market is open 10.00am-5.00pm, Monday to Saturday, during the Week it Host a diverse range of Street Food to suit all tastes, from Italian Classics to Sushi Sandwiches there is always a new cuisine to try. A warming lunch on a winter's day or something to kick-start that new healthy diet. Along side daily Street Food stalls and vans we have regular produce stalls and a variety of guest stalls. The Saturday Flea Market includes a changing selection of Bric-a-brac and handmade goods. On the third Saturday of each month Waterloo Classic car show joins us bringing a vintage vibe to the street.

This short street used to have mainly fruit & vegetable market stalls, but only a few still remain.I'm pleased to report that the whole street comes alive as workers emerge at lunchtime to queue at one of the many brightly coloured stalls for their Spanish,Thai,French, etc.meals to take away. It's all freshly cooked,& hygiene is closely monitored.Along the road itself are a wide variety of independently owned shops, unusually, just 3 are small branches of large companies, a joy to see! At inequality end of the road is The Old Vic,& the other looks like a dark railway bridge as you turn right at the end. However, once under it you'll realise that you're near Westminster Bridge & another world.Waterloo Station sits alongside the entire rear of the Lower Marsh and so there are a couple of ways to walk up a slope to get to the station .The entire road is just about to have its finishing touches dealt with after a plan to make it user friendly. At the Old Vic Theatre end there's a pretty little park, the Millennium Green,to sit and eat your food.

Just a stone's throw away from Waterloo station is this amazing market open at lunch during the week with the most wonderful food stalls... I love the Falafels from Veg As You Go and the scrumptious cakes from Raffo & Ridegway which also has gluten free options... and Frango Reis do the most succulent grilled Peri Peri (piri piri) chicken with fluffy peppercorn rice, home made crisps and rocket, Parmesan & pine nut salad - Yum! And on Friday's there is a great cheese stall. Foodie Heaven. And the market staff seem to be a bit more cheery than some of London's larger food markets!
But if you do miss out on the days feasts there is some great restaurants down the same street, Marie's Cafe is a special find, greasy spoon by day, Thai restaurant by night, you can bring your own alcohol too and the food is cheap and authentic... for somewhere a bit more decadent try sleb haunt La Barca for fantastic Italian food!

There has been a market on lower marsh for donkey years and it seems to be having a revival, some fantastic Streaterie's, the smells are amazing, and some great shops, especially Radio Days!

Great street food on a scrappy little street behind waterloo station not much to look at but very tasty. I highly recommend the falafel wrap stand called veg-to-go or something similar. Other stalls include Thai, various African, Italian, tacos, Chinese, salads.bakery items in the warmer months, the variety changes slightly during the week (no falafel on thursdays) but most items around £4-5.
