London is expensive - make no mistake! Inspite, we decided to go for a more expensive hotel just to avoid any surprises or frustration. Hey, we were staying for one week!
The hotel is located rather conveniently just 5-10 minutes walk from London Bridge Station (Jubilee and Northern line as well as several bus lines). Shakespeare's Globe and the Millenium Bridge are about 10 minutes by foot. And for the art folks the Tate Modern is also close by. I want to mention particularly Burrough Market almost just around the corner as it offers culinary treats from local production among others. Busy but very good! You must check it out as well as all the pubs and restaurants around it.
The hotel meets international standards with its modern and very clean rooms. With a queen bed, flat tv, bathroom with shower and tub plus a separate (!!!) toilet they provide the basics in a pragmatic way. Amenities include a boiling jug and iron. There is well equipped gym boasting a sauna and steam room (Hammam). Very stylish!
We did not use room service or the breakfast buffet as we thought the GBP 16 pp are too expensive (we later discovered that having breakfast downtown is almost as expensive but then switched to Burrough Market). The breakfast area looked clean and was very brightly lit due to the massive glas front facing the rear.
There are 3 PCs and a Playstation in the lobby but all of them were mostly occupied by kids playing computer games. This was a nuisance at times because it prevented us from checking what to do and printing our boarding passes. But the people at reception were kind enough to print them for us. There is WiFi available for free, though.
All in all a nice stay! Considering the cost and value for money we may try out a different hotel next time.
