“Nice typical London hotel - could do without the stairs”
Reviewed 28 March 2014

My son & I spent 2 nights here. The room was usual London size, spotless, very comfortable bed and clean, well-equipped bathroom. We were checked in quickly but weren't ready for the slog up 4 floors of narrow stairs - got to dislike those pretty quickly. The hotel is in a quiet street - don't know if there is any parking close by. There is an NCP near Victoria station, about half a mile away that will cost you a fortune. Internet is free but patchy at best so don't think you can spend an hour or two watching an online movie.
The breakfast was very good - not huge but freshly prepared and with a nice choice of bread, jam, yogurt etc to go with the cooked part. Breakfast doesn't start til 7:30 if you're an early riser.
Our 6 a.m. wake-up on the last day came at 5 a.m. which I could have lived without. All round, this is a decent small hotel, handy for pubs and restaurants and the tube. If we'd booked earlier, we could probably have got something just as good and just as convenient so while I won't avoid the place, it's not a "must return" destination.

Room Tip: If you're not a fitness freak, get on the lower floors. Backpack cases are easier to get up the...

Stayed for one night but could have happily stayed longer. Lovely friendly clean hotel. The staff couldn't do enough for you especially the young porter. My sister who also stayed there with me was suffering from a bad back at the time and was using ice packs which the staff happily popped in the freezer for her. On the day we left we realised when we got to the coach station that she had forgotten the ice pack and really needed it for her coach journey home. I phoned the hotel to explain and the young porter very kindly walked to the station to return it to her. A very kind man indeed, my sister was extremely grateful. Would definitely stay again.

Arranged a short one night stay to bring my wife to London as she had never visited before and we went to see a show as well. The hotel spans across a couple of buildings. Parking could be a problem during the week as there are residential permits parking bays. But at the weekend, these do not apply, so you can find adequate parking along the street. The reception was helpful, although I was somewhat amazed that they asked me to pay in advance and not at the end of our stay. We had booked the room with through late rooms but they still asked for payment in advance (which was ok, but raised an eyebrow). The hotel was only 5 minutes drive from Big Ben which again was a huge advantage. WORD OF WARNING - Do not ask reception to arrange a cab as they arranged a private hire one to take us into London and they charged us £22.00, whereas the return leg after midnight only charged us £11:00 in total. Go outside and flag down a black cab, there are plenty that went past us while we were waiting. The room itself was on the second floor, no lifts, although we were only staying for one night, baggage was hand carry, but could have been a problem with suitcases. The room was smaller than expected, but clean bedding, shower worked, telly and tea making, Room was warm and quiet at night, so was a good nights sleep. Breakfast was in the main reception building, but downstairs in the basement area. The breakfast was hot, ample, and plenty of tea and toast served. If your looking for the Ritz or expectations are for a five star establishment, then you will be dissapointed. But as a central point to be able to explore London, this was a great location, was clean, dry, warm and quiet at night.

Room Tip: Do not ask the reception area to arrange a taxi, they use a locat chap that charged TWICE what you w...

stayed for 1 night room basic but clean, however bathroom not on suite and had to walk up a flight of stairs to bathroom, which was very dated and not particularly clean. although the location was excellent as a lone female traveller I did feel vulnerable having to walk up a flight of stairs to the bathroom in the middle of the night after being woken by some very loud guests at 4am

The staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was good. I would not stay in the single room without a bathroom again so cannot recommend.

Room Tip: do not choose a room without bathroom despite it being unclear when booking that it would be a fligh...

Very helpful staff. Room clean and tidy. Breakfast great. Would stay here again as good room rate for such a centrally located hotel. Hotel within three minutes walk of tube station. Hot water took a while to run hot but when it did was fine.

A little concerned after reading previous reviews but stayed for 2 nights to explore London and see the rugby at Twickenham.Great room on 2nd Floor, staff very friendly and helpful.Spotlessly clean, toiletries in bathroom, fresh towels daily with tea/coffee in room.Breakfast was brilliant , there was a continental buffet to start but also full English with everthing fresh (no tinned toms/mushrooms) and cooked to perfection.Second helpings of toast/tea. Breakfast more than enough, could not eat lunch. Will definitely stay here again, great hotel for the price.

Room Tip: Quiet area but within walking distance of pubs/restaurants.Narrow stairs which may be difficult for...

The title of this review, says it all. The room was basic, as can be expected in London. The bed was Ok a resonable double, the duvet & sheets clean. The en-suite was like alot of these hotels, the toilet and shower in a cupboard in the room. . Also breakfast was good and a full english was appreciated, as this is not the case in this type of London hotel. You also know when the tube is running as you can hear the trains below.

But on the positive side the location is great with Victoria station, a tube station and bus routes within minutes walk. There were also lots shops pubs and restaurants within minutes walk. All in all not too bad, but like all London "Hotels" too much for what you get!
