We stayed one night at the Doubletree Westminster as it was only a stop on our way back from Barcelona. We arrived around 1 pm, but our room wasn't ready, so we dropped off our luggage and went exploring. The location of this hotel is really nice since it's not on a major street (so it's quiet), but pretty close to a tube stop (Pimlico). It's also VERY close to the Thames Clipper's Millbank pier, which, if you want to go to the Tate Modern, is a cool way to get there since it drops you off right in front (it's the Tate to Tate service). The room itself was spacious and well laid out and had an iMac to serve as both your internet connection and TV, although the quality of the TV and internet were poor at times. The bed was comfy and large. The staff at the hotel were pleasant. We didn't try the hotel's bar or restaurant, but they looked pretty busy.

For central London this hotel is in a great position. Close to Westminster, it's location is in remarkably quiet area. Check in was first class..... aided by the tasty warm cookie. Our room was clean, modern and well thought out. Everything needed was in there.
We upgraded and had the free mini bar. That was two small bottles of beer, one of each miniature bottles of Bacardi and Gin...a couple of bottles of soft drinks, a bar of chocolate and a mini tube of Pringles.
The inclusive breakfast was a very good buffet style, when we finally got to it. Both mornings we went to breakfast a large queue had formed in front of us.
We both thought we would stay there again but felt the upgrade was not good value for the reasons given

Found this gem on a hotel comparison website by chance and I must say, lady luck must be smiling at me. Although centrally located, this hotel manage to tuck itself away from the manic London pace. Pimlico station is just 8 minutes walk away.

The rooms are well maintained and have a contemporary feel to it. Love that an iMac was provided for our entertainment. Compliments must be given to its staffs who are very service orientated and aim to please its customers wherever possible.

My verdict: Total Class!

We stayed for the weekend in September. The hotel is convieniently located just behind Tate Britain which makes it easy to walk to most sights. It is also easy to catch the Tate to Tate river boat opposite and get to St Pauls/Tate Modern. Parking outside on the road was free and there was lots of space. The hotel was nice, bright and clean. The rooms were a good size for london - we travelled with my 3 year old and they fitted and extra bed in with room to spare. All the rooms have apple mac's and free wifi which is a plus. The room and the bath room were both clean and bright. Quite modern in style with crabtree and evelyn bath/shampoo/shower stuff. Breakfast was a buffet. Well cooked but ususal buffet fayre. There was a good selection including lots of fresh fruit which helped. But really the best bit about the hotel was the staff. They couldn't do more to help. From bringing up milk for my little one to pointing out the free parking (we would have paid for the hotel parking if they hadn't said). Every time we spoke to anyone they couldn't do more to help. They came and cleaned up our room twice one day without being asked. And did a turn down service with fresh towels after we came home and had showers before dinner.

All that and the place is only about 20 mins walk from the Mall or the Houses of Parliament and about 30 mins walk from Regents street.

In terms of downsides: the wifi reception was patchy and there aren't many places to eat locally in the evening. There is a Pizza Express literally next to the hotel out of the back past the City Inn. We tried that one night and then the next night caught a cab up to China Town. A taxi to Leicester Sq/Shaftsbury av was about £8.

Room Tip: It is a quiet location at weekends so all rooms would be pretty good. We were on 5th floor and didn...

This was my first time staying in a Doubletree hotel. First impressions of the hotel were very clean and very modern. We got to the hotel early around mid day knowing that check in was at 3pm but we wanted to drop our bags off. The receptionist told us our room was ready however when we went up to the room it wasnt, there was a problem with the computer system. This wasnt a problem as the hotel staff couldnt do enough to fix the problem and offered us a complimentary drink for the inconvenience.
The room was spacious and very clean.
The bar was lovely and comfortable.
As a welcoming gift they offered you cookies which were to die for!
The nearest tube station is plimico which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
We went to see a show in Shaftesbury Avenue and even on a busy Saturday evening even with the olympics being on it cost £15 to get back which I dont think is that bad.
Would defo stay in this hotel again.

Stayed for one night as we were celebrating. Room was spotless and nicely designed. Staff very professional but still friendly. Rooftop bar provides amazing city views and definitely worth a visit. Decent breakfast and again, staff were friendly and professional. Good selection of extras in the room and of course I probably shouldn't forget to mention THAT cookie on arrival. Such a simple and inexpensive idea, nice touch!

Location is also fantastic. A minute's walk from Tower Hill station, with the bridge and Tower right on the doorstep.

Would definitely reconsider staying here again - thanks!

Stayed here on business and found this to be a super hotel in a very modern style. The service was superb and the rooms all included an apple television. the only negative was the breakfast which did not match up to the rest to the experience. The location being a stones throw from the houses of parliament was fantastic and would work well for sightseeing.
