“Great Stay”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

This was my second stay at this Doubletree and the hotel did not disappoint. The hotel staff and rooms are great. The price I paid was excellent value for money (for Central London anyway). Both times I arrived early at 10.30 am and was able to check in to my room there and then - which was greatly appreciated.

The location is slightly off the beaten track in a mixed residential and government office area. So it is very quiet at night time with not much in the way of restaurants or bars. However there is a Starbucks, Pret a Manger, a couple of pubs close by. It is about a 10 minute walk to either Pimlico or Westmister tube stations. Soho and the Southbank Centre are about 25 minutes walk away or jump a taxi!

The only thing to be aware of is the amount construction work adjacent to the hotel at present - three different construction sites. Otherwise, nothing to worry about here.

Great price to value ratio. Comfortable modern rooms. Walk to Westminster or Pimlico tube in 10 min or take the cab. Excellent breakfast selection. Fast and efficient service. Annoying elevators, but rest excellent.

Myself and 5 girl friends stayed here. The hotel staff were friendly and ensured our 3 rooms were beside each other. The rooms are an excellent standard, clean and well equipped. The mini bar was an added bonus as was the stunning location and views. The hotel was very quiet ( unless everyone was asleep by the time we got in!). The breakfast was good and all in all we had a fantastic weekend and an excellent hotel room. I will definitely be back. One of the nicest hotel rooms I have stayed in :)

Room Tip: If possible get an executive room - worth the extra cash

Just spent a very pleasant stay a this hotel. The staff on arrival were very helpful and the free warm cookie goes down very nicely, especially with our children! The hotel is well situated near to Pimlico tube station and taxi's are frequently outside. The rooms are very well equipped, having an Apple computer which doubles up as the TV, which the children found cool! Free Internet access in the room via the computer and also free Wifi throughout the hotel. The beds were extremely comfortable. The room had a kettle, tea, coffee, etc, 2 bottles of water each day, iron, ironing board and hair dryer. The bathroom was very clean and well stocked with hand wash/shower gel etc. The shower was very good. The breakfast was excellent with something for everyone. We were very impressed with the hotel and would highly recommend it. It is also very close to the Tate Gallery!

This was our second stay at this hotel and I would stay again. We stayed for three nights prior to a cruise out of Harwich. The hotel is modern, clean and has excellent customer service. The concierge was particularly helpful in dealing with our transport company that failed to pick us up at the hotel. Without her assistance, we would have had to really scramble to get to the port.

We stayed in an Executive room which was big enough to meet our needs. The room included free breakfast each morning, which was excellent.

Hotel is in a very quiet neighborhood with only a few restaurants nearby. Most major sites are within walking distance.

We just returned from London and a stay at the Doubletree on John Islip Street in the Westminster section of London. The hotel was great. We were able to walk to Westminster Abbey and the Parliament Buildings in about 10 minutes...could have been faster, but as tourists, we took our time. The Tate Britain is located next door. There is a dock for the Thames River water taxis also very convenient to the hotel. The big Tube station is located at Westminster by the Parliament buildings (Big Ben) and has all lines converge there.
The room was clean, serviced quickly and the hotel offers both a bar and restaurant. The breakfast buffet included eggs, sausage, pastries, cereal, fruit, etc.
The only drawback that keeps the rating from excellent is the fact that there is construction going on outside the hotel next door and across the street that begins at 8:30 and quits at 5:30.
The loud pounding was our alarm to get out and see the city!.

Room Tip: All rooms have Mac tv and keyboards in the rooms and make charging Ipads and Iphones easy. Bring a...

i had to move here after 4 nights at the doubletree courthouse in mayfair, and the contrast couldn't be greater. this is a factory like glass building right near the tate britain, but otherwise in a quiet residential neighborhood far from everything, and requiring a taxi to go anywhere. no restaurants or cafes nearby. the gym is nice, and the rooms are "new" but literally have the feel of an institutional dorm room, no bathtubs just shower, no TV just a computer, and minibar is empty. no character at all. but breakfast is nice and drinks delicious at the milbank bar (avoid the inedible pizza). no reason to stay here unless you have something going on in the immediate neighborhood. perfectly quiet and clean but lacking in charm or character

Room Tip: rooms are all the same cuz it's factory produced...

Dear slwjosh123,

Thank you for your review of the DoubleTree Westminster. We appreciate you taking the time to provide detailed feedback regarding your recent stay with us.

I was surprised to see that you were not pleased with the Hotel's location. The DoubleTree Westminster is conveniently close to several Central London attractions and shopping districts without the disadvantage of the hustle and bustle that usually accompanies it. We are often described as an oasis of calm within the City, as our guests get the benefits of a Central London hotel whilst maintaining a peace and quiet that belies the busy City.

I was disappointed to see that you did not like our rooms and furnishings. We have several different room types with differing faclilities and packages: our Executive Room package includes complimentary breakfast and a stocked minibar; our Suites come equipped with both bathtubs and walk-in showers, and the room iMac is both a television and a computer in one.

Our dedicated Guest Services team is on hand to provide you with detailed information regarding local pubs, restaurants, tourist attractions and public transport access all within easy walking distance of the hotel, so please feel free to take advantage of this service on any future visits to Westminster.

Thank you once again for your detailed review. We appreciate your loyalty to our Brand, and hope to welcome you back the DoubleTree Westminster in future.

Kind regards,

Dola O
