“Again a pleasant stay”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

As a returning guest I was wondering if the hotel would be able to hold it's appearance, friendliness of the personnel and quality of the breakfast. And I have to say that all expectations were met. Although it was just one night, this stay was as pleasant as ever. Now Hilton should concentrate on the next issue, the weather in Decmber, rain instead of snow ;-)

Stayed for 2 nights on business. Received a warm welcome and the free cookie. Was given a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the side street. Room was good size, bathroom was very small with a shower. Unsure about the Apple Mac as the tv. Took ages to get the tv on though the menu.
Received 2 bottles of water which was a nice touch. There was also an empty fridge.
The shower could do with some maintenance as there was mould on the sealant and parts of the door were grotty. Not the standard I would expect of a 4 star hotel but this was my only complaint on the room.
I ate in the bar on the first night. Food was fine. I asked for an orange squash and soda water and had the bar man come over to explain they didn't have orange squash and could only give me lime cordial or black currant. It was also quite dark in the room so you had to rely on your taste buds to understand what you were eating. The staff in the bar were very friendly.
Breakfast was good, shame no skimmed milk (went to another Hilton at the weekend and this was automatically available).
So overall, a good hotel but needs to do a bit more maintenance to be a great hotel.

Stayed here for two nights over the weekend and really enjoyed our stay. The service is very good and every staff member we had contact with was very friendly. Our room was on the 12th floor and very quiet, We received two free bottles of water everyday and a great cookie upon check in. The location is also very good, just a short walk to the Westminster area. We had free wifi and it was fast and easy to log on to. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a room on the executive floor. Rm 1217 was very quiet.

This is my second visit to this hotel. It is in a great position for sightseeing. It is so close to the Thames and Big Ben and Houses of Parliament . Would recommend this hotel to all as the facilities are good and the bedrooms and bathroom well fitted.

We stayed for one night, Saturday to Sunday and upgraded to a suite for an additional £60. The suite was very comfortable and spacious with floor to ceiling windows and extensive views towards Victoria and Westminster cathedral, though the immediate view below us was of an enormous building site.
The hotel is in a quiet location situated next to Tate Britain, close to government offices and a residential area. Restaurants and bars are few and far between. It's a short walk to the bus-stop though and you can take the Tube at Pimlico (ten-minute walk) or Westminster (10-15 mins.).
It's a pity that breakfast was such a disaster (not just for us, but for many others too, we suspect as we saw people complaining in the dining room and at reception). Firstly we had to queue for ten minutes to get a table. We were then served tea; one teabag between two in the pot. We then had to stand for fifteen to twenty minutes in the buffet queue, by which time our rather weak tea was quite cold. The food was ok, but lukewarm. And trying to use a toaster to make your own toast is difficult, if not impossible, in a shuffling queue. We left most of the food. If we had paid the full rate for the breakfast (over £20 each, we believe) we would have been incandescent. The system clearly needs some reorganisation to deal with demand at weekend peak-times; we can't believe this was a one-off. The staff did their best to cope in difficult circumstances though and were courteous and helpful.
It's a pity about the breakfast, we really liked this hotel.

Room Tip: If you choose a room at the front of the hotel, you are likely to see a building site. Construction...

Thank you for your review of your recent stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton London - Westminster. We appreciate you taking the time to leave detailed feedback of your stay, and I am delighted to see that you were pleased with your Suite and found our location and facilities well-suited to your needs.

I was very saddened to read of your breakfast experience in City Cafe. Here at the DoubleTree Westminster, we pride ourselves on the high standards of service that we provide to our guests, and our restaurant staff in particular are often praised for the quality of service they provide; however we have clearly let ourselves down on this occasion, and for this I sincerely apologise. We have stayed at this Hotel a few times whilst under different ownerships. It is still good, but not as good as it used to be. The Hotel has not worn very well (Leak from Sink Waste, Mould as shower etc) Breakfast was nice, but long queues now that it is self service.

Still fine, but has lost its edge!

Located directly behind Westminster tube station, so easy to walk out and access all of the London neighborhoods. Rooms and hotel are nothing special, but it is clean, safe, and staff are polite and helpful. Decent value, and we came to London to explore, not sit in a hotel room all day! I would recommend.
