“Double Tree Westminster”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 via mobile

We booked here last minute due to a problem with our main hotel. We had an absolutely great stay and was very pleased that we ended up staying here. Very helpful staff, unbelievable location and great size rooms. Would certainly choose to stay here again when we're next in London.

I stay at the Doubletree Westminister when I am in London for work. It is centrally located, with nearby bus service to anywhere you'd like to go in London (I prefer the bus to the tube). The hotel is clean, the rooms are fairly spacious for a London hotel and the staff are very accommodating.

I love that they have an Apple in every room, so you don't need to bring your laptop. There are some excellent restaurants at the end of Horseferry Road, just a 3 minute walk, that are packed full of taxi drivers in the evenings, so you know they're good.

The one downside is that their coffee is undrinkable, but there's a Starbucks and a Pret a Manger on Horseferry Road.

The hotel was very expensive and nothing really to show for it over and above cheaper hotels. It is a great location and I guess if you wish to pay for that great. It is walking distance to a lot of good locations in London but for me the price just does not justify the location.

Dear Danny C,

hank you for your kind review of the DoubleTree Westminster. We appreciate you taking the time to provide detailed feedback regarding your recent stay.

I am sorry to see your recent experience with us did not meet with your expectations. All our rooms have been designed to offer a comfortable stay with all the facilities you may expect from a 4-star property, making maximum use of the limited space available in a prime city centre location.

Regarding our room rates, we do regularly conduct surveys to ensure our pricing structure remains level with our competitors in the London marketplace; however, I am sorry that you did find this to be expensive.

Once again I am sorry that you did not consider your stay good value for money as other TripAdvisor users have done, but thank you for sharing your experience with us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to the DoubleTree Westminster in future.

Kind regards,

Stayed here for 3 nights mid June. It's very close to Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. The nearest tube station is pimlico which is about a 10 minute walk so it's just as quick to walk to the sites. Unless you are here during the week, the local pubs are closed of a weekend in this area. Our room was on the 3rd floor, a double room. It was clean, standard size, nothing special. It had a safe that didn't work and a fridge with nothing in it. The air conditioning was on the coolest setting the whole time and we were both still kicking the quilt off, not very good, glad we didn't stay when it's really warm. There is no TV in the rooms, just an iMac, great no problem except the screen isn't very big especially when your watching the late World Cup games. We had breakfast included in our offer and I'm so glad we did. Really good choice and eat as much as you like and it was nice. Set us up perfectly for the busy day ahead. Staff are friendly and helpful. On the whole I would stay here again, but only if it was on offer again.

Room Tip: Our basic room was fine for us because we only slept there. I haven't seen an other rooms to be...

Dear msmith8735,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review of DoubleTree Westminster on TripAdvisor. We appreciate all feedback, positive or otherwise, as it is a valuable source of information for us and helps us monitor the service we provide.

Here at the DoubleTree Westminster, we are very proud of the number of positive contributions that the Trip Advisor community has left for us over the years, and I am disappointed that you did not feel the same way. You have mentioned that you were unable to operate your safe and that you experienced some difficulty using the air conditioning system; in future please feel free to contact us with any queries and our 24-hour Duty Manager will be delighted to attend to your needs.

In today’s digital world, we find that our guests have as much need for a computer as they do a television; as such, all our rooms are equipped with iMacs which serve as both television and computer, and our Duty Manager who is happy to provide instruction in operating the unit if assistance is needed.

I have noted your comments on the unstocked minibar. In keeping with DoubleTree standards worldwide, we have now opened our Executive Lounge which offers complimentary snacks and drinks for Executive Room bookings, and has therefore taken the place of the minibar. We do offer a minibar package on demand for other room types, as is stated on the literature inside the fridge, so please feel free to order this from the Front Desk on your next visit.

In addition to being a source of information for training purposes, your feedback also serves to encourage and inspire us. I am pleased to see that you enjoyed your complimentary breakfast, and I have forwarded your kind comments to the breakfast team, who are delighted to have made such a good impression.

Once again, I am very sorry that your experience with us was not as positive as you would have liked, but thank you for sharing this with us, and we do hope to one day welcome you back to the DoubleTree Westminster and provide you with a fully positive experience.

Kind regards,

Dola O

We stayed here for a week-long vacation in London. It is located near several landmarks and places we wanted to see - Westminster Abbey, London Eye, St. James's Park, etc. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the room was clean, quiet, and fairly new-looking. There is no TV, just an iMac that you can use as a television. The bathroom only had a shower, but that's not a problem for us. We had breakfast included in our rate, and it was very well done with a selection of pastries, breads, fruit, and hot food. There are a few bus stops close by, and an Underground station in about a 5-10 minute walk. There is currently quite a bit of construction nearby, but we didn't notice the noise in the room at all. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I stayed at the hotel in mid June 2014 over a weekend. Overall the hotel was 'good enough', but below expectations. Given the location I may consider staying there again, but not without considering alternatives first.

King Room was surprisingly small with a small double bed, definitively no king size bed. Interior looks and feels cheap; bathroom is very basic. Biggest surprise was that there was no minibar in the room. Room service was efficient, but charged GBP5 just for bringing the drinks to the room!

Having an iMac in the room instead of a TV set sounds like a good idea, but the screen is much smaller and the controls are not as responsive as on a normal flat screen TV.
The gym is small, but has a good collection of cardio and other training devices. I liked it.

Breakfast buffet was very basic. The typical English staples and cold cuts. Small packaged cheddar pieces. Does the trick, but no 'feel good' factor.

Location is good, just a short stroll from the Victoria line and around the corner from the Thames.
