The staff was very helpful--especially the concierge. The rooms were clean and had 2 bottles of water in the room when we arrived. Other Hilton hotels I've stayed in replaced the bottled water every day. At this one, you had to pay for water past the first two bottles. Complimentary water every day would be much appreciated. Overall a good place to stay.

We stayed at the Doubletree as part of a package deal for Wimbledon. We typically stay in smaller hotels on vacation, so it was a fun change to stay in a "big" hotel. They great you with warm cookies on your arrival and in general the staff was very helpful and cheerful. The hotel is clearly catering to business travelers - there were several meetings going on while we were there. As such, if you were staying alone in a room, it would be quite adequate even though the rooms are not large and the bathroom is quite tiny. To share the space was a bit cramped, but as we were gone all day at Wimbledon it was really just a place to shower and sleep. The Hotel is just a block or two from the Tate and if you stay, do treat yourself to an evening walk along the Thames - you can do a loop across the river, down a bridge or two, and back along Westminster and Big Ben in about 30-45 minutes. There were lots of people out around sunset (9:30) and the city was so pretty in the twilight. There are not a lot of dining options near the hotel, but we did find a serviceable pub called the White Swan about a 10 minute walk away near the Pimlico tube stop. As I mentioned the rooms were smallish and nothing about them registered "London" or "England." You could be in any business hotel anywhere in the world. The cafe downstairs has a very good buffet breakfast with typical English items (tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs, bacon, sausage) and also cold foods such as fruit, yogurt, sliced ham, breads, muffins, etc. The staff in the cafe was attentive and got you your pot of tea or coffee quickly. We ate there two evenings and although the staff was quite friendly and attentive, the food was just adequate. The caesar salad was drenched in a flavorless, heavy mayonnaise, the steak was overly salty, etc. We arrived back from Wimbledon late both evenings and were too tired to venture out and take the tube or a taxi to another location as the area has few restaurants. Still, it was overall a pleasant place to stay and the staff was certainly well-trained.

Room Tip: The upper floors have better view that aren't blocked by the surrounding buildings so you can se...

As part of our Wimbledon Experience, we were booked for three nights here. We had already been in Europe for the past two weeks, so we had already experienced several hotels in France and England. This hotel was very adequate. The rooms are small and the bathroom even smaller, and we upgraded to the Executive level. We were disappointed with the lounge, but mostly because it had no view. The restaurant was good. We had dinner there twice due to arriving back too late to go anywhere else. The breakfast was very good. Most of the travelers are on business, so we were the exception. Although we ordered a town car to take us to Heathrow, the company failed us. The concierge was extremely accommodating and provided taxi transport at the hotel's expense. We were very grateful for that. An excellent location for the Tate or Westminster, but not many restaurants around otherwise. Given a choice of the many hotels in London, we probably would not stay here again.

As a business traveler one of the must-haves is reliable Internet access in your room.

The Internet here is appalling. Works either very slowly to not at all.

Wifi this evening in my room simply didn't work. I had to go downstairs to the bar to get it to work.

Frankly it's not acceptable. Location of the hotel is good, breakfast is good, but I can't recommend if the basic Internet service doesn't work.

Stayed here after our previous hotel had no availability. We were extremely impressed with the Staff, service and quality of the rooms. Although a fair (but enjoyable) walk into central town, we would definately stay here again. Only downside would be the high rates compared to others in the same category.

I booked this room on a pre-paid rate because it was a very good deal compared with the rates on offer at the various Premier Inn hotels and similar options, for a 1 night stay after the theatre. I had not used it before. It's tucked around the back of Millbank close to Tate Britain, not particularly easy from main line rail termini, but still quite central. There is building work going on around the hotel but it wasn't an issue at the weekend. Overall it made for a quiet and reasonably convenient stay, about 30 minutes walk from the West End.

The hotel seemed either new, or at least newly refurbished. The room was freshly decorated, so much so we could smell paint. The bed was very comfortable, a great night's sleep. I also liked the standalone shower cubicle, it's a pleasant change to be able to shower comfortably rather than standing next to a soggy curtain in a cramped bathtub. TV services were provided on an iMac, an interesting idea that doesn't quite come off, as the screen is a bit small. On the whole I would rather have decent wifi in the room and use my own devices, than use a hotel computer even a brand new iMac. The wifi, such as it was, was very poor in the room, so I ended up tethering through my phone's 3G.

Breakfast selection and range very good.

Will return if the rates stay attractive.
