“Good budget hotel in a great location”
Reviewed 11 July 2012

We have stayed at this hotel lots of times, with and without children, and have always found it to be pleasant and clean. The facilities are what you would expect for a budget hotel but very adequate. We don't come to London to stay in the hotel. It's in a great location you can walk to lots of the attractions, Tate Gallery, The Globe Theatre, The millennium Bridge and St Paul's cathedral, London Dungeon, Borough Market, Tower Bridge a lovely pedestrian walk with lots to see on the way. Vinopolis is very close 1 minute walk. The hotel uses the historic pub which it is attached to for breakfast and meals but I haven't eaten there as there are too many other places to eat in London. There is a tube station close by, 5 minute walk, which is very convenient and you can then get to where ever you want to be. There is also the mainline London Bridge station if you want to explore further.

Room Tip: We haven't had a bad room, when we travel as a family it is a bit cramped but they always are as...

Recently stayed in Premier Inn Southwark on a shopping trip with my daughter. The hotel room was lovely and big and the bathroom was good and clean. The beds were super comfortable and the location of the hotel is brilliant, right by Borough Market and very close to London Bridge tube station. Also very convenient to my son's flat in Southwark so will definitely stay there again.

Premier Inns come with that tag, don't they? That, oh dear, it's another franchise, kind of stigma. And of course, when we first arrived, I was rather apprehensive. We entered the hotel through a small car-park, with some overflowing bins near the entrance; not a brilliant start. But once inside the reception, my fears vanished; it was beautifully decorated inside, comfortable and warm, as the weather outside was not fantastic. We were in a room for three; at the time, I was the "child", and it was for a holiday for my birthday weekend. A trip with the parents to see AC/DC, none the less.
The room was well decorated, the beds comfortable. The seven foot wide double bed would have suited me fine, but of course, being the "child" I was shunted to the sofa bed, birthday or no birthday.
Despite this, the sofa bed was still comfortable, with light, warm bedding, and soft, sturdy pillows. The room itself was decorated with a lovely interior design; predominantly purple - so they can't completely shake the stigma - with a good sized, clean bathroom, and wide opening windows so we didn't boil. Once the night of the concert came around, we did indeed boil, returning to a surprisingly still manned reception at one o'clock in the morning.
The breakfast... well. What can I say about that breakfast? I was expecting one of those grease filled piles of cholesterol, but that is certainly not what I got! With a wide choice of "fry-up" food, from scrambled eggs, to beautiful grilled mushrooms, and a lovely selection of fresh fruit and cereal, I was pleasantly surprised. Not to mention that it was situated in a pub next door, one of the best in Southwark. We sampled the evening menu there one night, and with the first bite of plum sauce and venison, I was lost.
A perfect place to stay, I will return again, and again, each time I visit my favourite area of London. It's positioning is perfect; not a stone's throw from the Globe Theatre and the Tate Modern, and it's staff friendly and courteous.

Came here for a girly weekend with my best friend - being over the road from a bar that does 2 4 1 cocktails from 4 - 7 complemented that brilliantly!
The tube is just around the corner (London Bridge) so the location is great - lovely little Italian place just under the bridge opposite too.
The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful with anything we needed. The breakfast was served next door at The Anchor and was absolutely delicious! Anything you can think of to have for breakfast was an option and with the Premier Breakfast you can have as much as you like of any of it!
Overall a great hotel, would love to stay here again!

We stayed at the Southwark Premier Inn for 3 days over the Jubilee weekend and found the location to be excellent. You are right in the middle of the "market area" with lots of old traditional London pubs buzzing with activity, restaurants and bistros are also in abundance in this area. There is a tube stop maybe 500 mtrs away... London Bridge, and I`m sure there would have been the normal water transport nearby, but with the Jubilee this was all canceled. The Premier Inn also has a nice olde worlde pub attached to it right on the side of the Thames. Even If your an old wrinkle like me you will enjoy the lively interesting old streets and architecture, and feel safe !!.
All in all a great weekend !!.

My first experience of a Premier Inn for 5 years on a weekend trip to London last wekend. As many have said the location is fabulous and can't be beaten, the staff too are areal asset to this place we encountered 5-6 members of staff durring our stay and found them all to be pleasent, curtious and friendly. The room was surprisingly big and very clean, even the bathroom was spotless, air con was effective, all Freeview channels actually worked, I've stopped in hotels in London via work and paid twice this and had half the room and half the service!! Because of the location you are spoilt for choice for food so we had breakfast around Borough Market, the Anchor and Old Thames Inn are two great pubs on your doorstep right next to the Thames, Borough Market is worth exploring, Afternoon Tea up the OXO Tower, Damien Hirst at the Tate and all the things along the Southbank...too little time!! Als if you looking for an interesting restaurant and don't fancy the 'chains' google 'Champor Chambor' it's only 15 mins walk near Guys Hospital, also on way there or back 'The George Inn' off Borough High Street, authentic/historic London pub
Only downside was the noise, not from the Tube but we faced out to the street so we had a few late night revellers but mainly in the morning refuse lorries, roadworks, deliveries, improved glazing would help but hey you're in central London and i'm a light sleeper! We were on the second floor and found the people walking around above us created a lot of noise so this is either down to poor soundproofing between floors 2 and 3 or they had horses up there!!!
would we go back...oh yessss! BUT we would request top floor and facing into the courtyard...so staff and Manager of this hotel pat yourselves on the back and thank you!

Room Tip: Top floor, courtyard facing

Outstanding location, next to Thames river and great ambiance. You can practically walk along the river bank, which is lined with restaurants and shops, to many locations, including St. Paul's, London Eye, Tower bridge, although the last two are rather long but enjoyable walks. Plenty of restaurants, shops and pubs near the hotel. Borough Market next to the hotel is a delight to visit on the weekends.
We liked the breakfast at the Anchor pub, there was plenty of variety and the added convenience. Hotel staff was always friendly and greeted us with a smile every time. Room and bathroom were spotless, and the beds, including the extra bed, were comfy. Room size was decent as well. We were a little concerned about that since the Premier Inn County Hall where we stayed on our last visit, had rather tiny rooms. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
