I have stayed in a few Premier Inns now and will consider them above other budget hotels.
I have always received a pleasant welcome, all rooms have been clean and comfortable.
Southwark Premier Travel Inn was no exception.
Location for central London is perfect, by the Thames and near the Globe Theatre.
I had checked in on line and arrived after a Wedding at around 23:15, a smile greeted us even at that time of the day.
Room 3 on the ground floor, very spacious and clean, huge bed with crisp looking sheets and plenty of pillows.
Although we were on the ground floor, the noise outside did not cause any issues. Waking up at 8am was evidence of that.
We chose the full breakfast but could not see how anyone who had selected the continental was monitored not to take from cooked, any how, at 9:30 it was still be replenished even though it started at 8 and finished at 10. We were fortunate to have a seat near the window overlooking the Thames.
Check out was easy and our bags were looked after.
Did we pay too much? £151 for the room and £19.50 for two breakfasts in Central London? I don't think so.

I had stayed here previously when I was on a training course in London. I was very impressed then and had no hesitation in booking again to take my two grandchildren (12 and 10) for a half term break.
The location is really good. Easy 10 minute walk from London Bridge Tube Station through Borough Market. Very quiet hotel given its central location. We walked up to the London Eye in about 20 minutes at a moderate pace. Breakfast is served in the upper floor of the historic Anchor Hotel with lovely views across the Thames toward St. Paul's Cathedral.
Checked in online the evening before our visit so was a relatively easy check in. Room was on the ground floor at back of hotel so very quiet. Clean when we arrived but needed to ask for a couple more towels for the 3 of us. Reception very helpful. King size bed and a single bed made up in room. My grandson who is 12 was going to sleep on the single but when he tried to lie on it we realised it was a camp bed type single. He was happy to try it but did not have the best night's sleep because it was narrow and creeky.
The day after we went to reception to ask if anything could be done about the single bed. The receptionist assured us she would see that it was changed and would personally try it herself to see that it was comfortable. When we returned later in the day and the bed was the same with just an extra duvet covering the mattress. Too tired by that stage to ask again so decided to grin and bear it for the last night. Moral of this story is single pull out beds are for children under 7. Older children will need a room of their own with proper beds.
Breakfast was excellent and a bargain considering you pay only for an adult breakfast at £9.25. The children ate really well for free. Best deal in London.
Cleaning on the second day was very poor. Bathroom was not cleaned nor tea tray cups washed and stock replenished. Went to reception to ask for a few tea bags for the morning.
Generally, good with a few minor issues.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review for Premier Inn Southwark Borough Market. I'm sorry to hear that on this occasion you found our pull-out bed to be less than comfortable. At Premier Inn we strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and have a 24-hour reception for that purpose.

We give the utmost importance to our guest comments as they help us improve, and continually provide the best guest experience possible. We will pass your comments to upper management in regards to the comfort factor of our pull-out beds. On the other hand, we're happy to hear that our reception staff were excellent in their service in helping you resolve the issue. Once again I would like to thank you for sharing your thoughts, and hope you will give us the opportunity to serve you again in the future.

We chose this hotel carefully as we were visiting London for the first time with our nine year old twins. We liked the fact that ohter reiewers had commented on how quiet the hotel, was despite its central location and how friendly the staff were. We arrvied late afternoon and headed out to see Matilda - a birthday treat. We came back at 10.50 and went straight to bed. At 11.20 the phone rang and we were amazed when we answered it to be told that the people below us had reported to reception staff that we were thumping too loudly.on the floor. My husband explained that we had simply been putting our children to bed and that the phonecall had actually woken everyone in our room up. The next morning I complained as we were leaving about the poor customer service I felt we had received. On the say so of someone who obviously wanted to get their money back under the premier inn good night guarantee we had been made the victims and had an awful night. The staff who had been so frirendly the day before were not prepaed to offer an apology but simply said there were 2 sides to every story. I suggested that if they visited the second floor they would have realised that everyone in our room was asleep and the lights were off. Instead they chose to believe the story of someone who before they came to the hotel probably indended to get their money back. The staff here need to wake up and smell the coffee!

I use Premier Inn frequently, because the beds are comfy, the rooms clean, they are often well located and they are usually good value for money. The one near Borough market, Southwark, ticked the first 3 boxes, but was on this occasion quite expensive (over £160 per night). However, we had a peaceful night's sleep - no disturbances, and it was very handy for our visit to the Globe theatre. The real disappointment was the breakfast which is served in the old 'pub' section attached to the hotel. The room was dingy, there weren't enough staff and the coffee was appalling - luke warm and served from large thermos type flasks. Although it is well located, next time I will go to the Tate Premier Inn down the road.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback on your experience with us here at Premier Inn London Southwark Borough Market. I'm pleased to note that you found our location to be convenient and our rooms to be quiet. The room rates at Borough Market can be more expensive due to it's convenient, central location. Less expensive rates can be found with online bookings, on Sundays or in less central areas.

In regards to the poor quality of the coffee at the Anchor Pub, please accept our sincere apologies. The Anchor pub is an independent business and therefore is not affiliated with Premier Inn or our standards. I shall be passing your feedback onto the Anchor Pub. Unfortunately the Anchor is an independent business from Premier Inn and so we have very little control over the quality of their breakfast or the staff there.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Premier Inn Southwark Borough Market in the near future.
