Albeit the initial girl on reception was very polite and handled my check in well. It soon went downhill.

The rooms are in need of some updating, the bathroom was dirty and the toilet flush didn't work, the bath drain was blocked and after a shower I was pretty much having a bath.

The room service which we ordered, the dirty plates were still there when we came back in the evening.

When we turned the air condition on, it made a huge racket which was unbearable, we went to reception to see if they could have a look at it, and all they said was "no we can't do that" and then I was told if I didn't like the noise I should turn it off or fix it myself.

The breakfast...although plenty of choice, we were sat down for 20 minutes before anyone came over and asked us for our order, even then we had to ask 3 times for anything we wanted.

I won't be staying here again, paying 180 pounds a night is definitely not worth the service offered.

After reading previous reviews before staying at this property we assumed that it would be ok, so here are just our own gripes about staying here!
Good things first: Convenient for the tourist and near to Tower of London and good transport network.
Staff were friendly and seemed to want to make our stay enjoyable, but lacked some enthusiam!
Tried their best.

Our room stated as a luxury room, well it had a bed, tv and all the usual accessories but luxury?
No not really just a standard room clean, tidy and in need of some updating ie the bathroom, the extractor fan didn't work which steamed up the bathroom also when flushing the toilet water nearly came up through the bath plughole, and the water when we had a shower took time to drain, not a huge problem but one we did needed to mention, as it may be that staff were unaware of this? Also we had little guests in the bathroom as well, silver fish! One was quite big about 3 to 4 cms long! It had a friend too. Bugs don't bother us but not in a supposedly 4 star hotel!
Nothing was resolved on this issue and when checking out we told the "manager who seemed the
not be aware of the reported issue" but noted it down.
The floor tiles in bathroom were chipped in places and some of the grouting needed redoing.
Menu offered was adequate but the food never seemed hot enough, breakfast on one morning took a long time to arrive as people came in after we were seated and getting served before us! We don't mind waiting but when it did arrive it was the wrong order, was sent back and then took another 30minutes to be served all that was wrong was the egg order! Petty it might seem, but not what we asked for.
Really little niggly things that could have made our stay better,to us we didn't feel we got value for our money, shame as we enjoyed our time in London.
Would we come back here sorry to say but no.

Room Tip: Room was noisy but not intrusive.

Stayed here over Friday to Sunday, stayed in a twin standard room, room very comfortable, on fourth floor. Breakfast was served between 08.00 and 11.00am, so plenty of time to get there. Staff were very helpful and courteous. Good location, near tube. Would definitely stay here again.

Found this hotel through booking.com. It seemed to provide everything we wanted and was near the wedding reception and other locations which we visited whilst we there for the weekend. The only let down was the breakfast served in the restaurant. We only stayed for two nights. The first morning had to wait some time to be seated and the service was slow. The food was absolutely fine. However on the second morning having waited ages to be seated we were placed at an unset table tucked away in a corner. Again the service was ridiculously slow, finally my porridge arrived but my husband gave up waiting for the toast he had requested when three other tables were served toast when we had in fact been in the restaurant before them. When I mentioned this at Reception when booking out I was merely informed a member of staff was ill. I believe the problems began at the top with the gentleman I presume was the Restaurant Manager. Also the hotel is obviously on top of an underground system which makes a stay there rather noisy. Room and bathroom quite adequate. Not sure about staying there again.

Room Tip: An inside room is quieter

Spent the weekend in London and stayed at the Chamberlain Hotel,(May 16th-18th). The location was perfect for our trips to HMS Belfast, The Shard and a visit to Marco Pierre White Steak & Ale House which we did all on foot. The hotel is less than five minutes walk from Aldgate underground. The room was clean and spacious with a large bathroom. The dinning room was next to the bar which on a Friday night was noisy, so a quiet dinner for 2 was a non starter. However, the food was excellent and the waiter was brilliant. Overall the hotel meet our needs and would recommend it.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back and therefore the nights were quiet.

straight to the point... Great little hotel in a perfect position, room very comfortable and clean with all the necessary mod cons. Breakfast quite average but perfectly acceptable. Only things that spoilt our stay..... Couldn't understand what the checking receptionist was saying, the main lift not working and The very loud beer resupply that took place this morning at about 6.30am, not a great start to a day!!! But over all recommended, we would return.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the service yard

I had a great experience here, the rooms were well equipped (iron and board, safe, toilet amenities etc, nice bed and extra pillows) and newly renovated. Service was also very good. My father came along at the last minute and one of the managers (I believe his name was Kevin) helped us out - gave us an extra room at a good rate as we were not able to let them know in advance that we needed a room that could take in 3 people.Good location that was near several bus stops and underground stations. The bus RV1 takes you straight to Waterloo Station which was very convenient as my parents took the train from Waterloo station to visit friends in Salisbury. There are also a number of good eateries nearby. Pod, which serves halal chicken is also located nearby. All in all a good experience.
