The Abbey Court is located on a pretty street just a few minute walk from Paddington Station. It is close to Hyde Park and the Marble Arch. While our room was teeny tiny, it was okay for the brief time we were there. The one big negative for us was that it wasn't air conditioned and we happened to be there when it was very hot in London. There was a fan in our room so that helped. The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. There is a concierge in the lobby who can book tour tickets and tickets for the Heathrow Express among other things. The Hop On Hop Off Tour picks up right around the corner from the hotel. We didn't eat at the hotel but they do offer breakfast for an additional fee and they have a new Brazilian restaurant next door. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants on the streets around the hotel as well as some nice parks.

Room Tip: If it's hot out ask for a room with a window that opens to the outside rather than a skylit atri...

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for taking your time to provide us with feedback.
Abbey Court Hotel is extremely pleased, that our facilities provided you with a pleasant stay.
We are located in a listed Victorian building, therefore our rooms are of non-standard sizes and no two rooms are alike.
For future reference, you can request a larger room, during the booking process.
Unfortunately, no room is fitted with A/C. We do attempt to tackle the unexpected hot weather currently occurring in London, by providing guests with fans.
We look forward to accommodating you again, on your future visits.

Regards,

Abbey Court Hotel

We booked this hotel on the basis that it was close to Paddington station and it was only a two minute walk away. The area is very pleasant with plenty of shops and restaurants in the vicinity, As for the hotel itself, the rooms are clean albeit small but the rates are quite reasonable for Central London. The bathroom is very small and might present difficulties for bigger individuals who might need to use the facilities. One must also keep in mind as well, there is no A/C in the rooms and they can get quite warm and stuffy in the summer but the lobby will provide a fan if you ask for one. A criticism I do have is the WiFi accessibility; there are quite a few hoops to jump through to get registered and also the company that provides the WiFi is listed as being in the Seychelles. Overall, the hotel is fine if you are looking to spend a night or two in London but I would suggest something a bit bigger if you want to stay longer in London or if you're travelling as a family.

Room Tip: Ask for a fan if you're staying in the summer. The rooms can get very warm during the summer and...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking your time to review your stay with us.
We are pleased you enjoyed your stay with Abbey Court Hotel.
Due to being a listed Victorian Building, Abbey Court Hotel has rooms of non-standard sizes and no two rooms are alike.
If guests are displeased for any reason, we allow room changes to occur, but, only if availability permits so.
The reception/staff also needs to be made aware as soon as possible.
As you mentioned, all rooms are not fitted with A/C and yes, guests will be provided with a fan if requested at reception.
Finally, Abbey Court Hotel apologises for any problems guests might be confronted with, attempting to gain access to the WiFi.
In order to circumvent the registration process online, guests can also purchase WiFi vouchers at reception.
We hope to welcome yourself and your family on any of your future visits to London.

Regards,

Abbey Court Hotel

After reading some of the reviews of this hotel I felt I had to write what I have to say about it. I feel like perhaps people don't realise that you get less for your money in London wherever you choose to stay and this hotel offers a great deal.
We booked this hotel as we wanted to be close to Hyde Park because we were attending one of the 'British Summer Time' music concerts there. The exterior of the hotel is very attractive and the reception is spacious, a large front desk with lots of seating. All the staff we came across (including reception staff and cleaning staff) were very friendly and polite and we had no problems checking in even though we had arrived slightly early. The hotel catered very well to our needs and there were no problems with us coming back to the hotel in the very early hours after the concert.
The hallways of the hotel are old fashioned but I saw them getting cleaned during our stay so still hygienic. Despite the old fashioned halls our room had obviously been fairly recently renovated with a clean, light feel to it. The room was small but we expected this for the price and it worked well for just the two of us. If you are on an overnight stay and aren't thinking about spending a lot of time in your hotel room then the space is sufficient. There is plenty of draw/hanger space. The room felt very clean as did the bathroom. We were on the 3rd floor at the front of the hotel which had a pretty view of the street outside and the window opened fully to air out the room as it was a very hot weekend.
We wanted to leave our bags at the hotel because check out time is 10am and our train home was in the evening so we had a day in London planned. There is a locked luggage room in the reception area however it didn't feel incredibly secure as nobody seemed to be watching it - just take your valuables with you! Having said that our bags were fine and we left them from 10am until 6pm.
Overall, a very conveniently placed hotel which worked well for the two of us as a place to stay overnight for a busy city weekend! Clean, friendly staff and a great deal in central London.

After reading some of the previous reviews I would have to say what do some people want for their money. The hotel is nice to look at from the outside and the entrance and reception areas were clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and we had no problems checking in. The room was on the small side but it was adequate for two people and we didn't plan on spending too much time in there when there is plenty to see and do. If you are after a large room in London I am sure it would cost a lot more than we paid.

We were looking for a hotel close to Paddington that accommodated 3 people and since there weren't many, chose the Abbey Court Hotel. The lobby is large and very Las Vegas-like with large Greek statues around a seating area. Too bad the space ends there. Our room was like a cracker box -- literally -- and there was barely room to move let alone place our small amount of luggage. We had to ask for a fan (no AC) as it was a warm evening, which helped moved the air in our crackerbox, err room, but barely so. Unless you really can't navigate a little further out from Paddington, avoid this hotel.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We apologise for the experience you went through at Abbey Court Hotel.
The building itself is a listed Victorian building, therefore, this means our rooms are of non-standard sizes.
We do attempt to change guests who are displeased with their rooms once request is made and only if availibity permits.
Unfortunatelty, every room within the hotel, has no AC.
Abbey Court Hotel encourages guests to avoid hesitation and contact reception regarding any problems which may arise during the stay.
Otherwise, the situation can not be ammended if the staff is not made aware.

I booked this hotel and although I had read some negative reviews, I thought perhaps the reviews had been exaggerated, sadly no! I have never reviewed a hotel before but feel compelled to on this occasion! Our room was on the ground floor, very small, with tiny/cramped bathroom, the window of the room opened to an internal area, it was very very very hot and stuffy, despite window being open all night no air was circulating. Asked to be moved was told hotel was full. Was given a fan, it was broken. Felt ill in the morning due lack of air. We were moved to upper floor for 2nd night which was noisy but preferable as we could have window open with a breeze coming in. This room was marginally bigger than the previous, bathroom still very cramped, it had an extremely bad smell despite keeping the extractor on, did not go away. Staff unhelpful and had a lack of interest, got the impression they are well used to guests complaining. Left luggage room, key appears to be handed out to anyone without showing any ID, which was a worry. Payment was taken at checkin (unusual but after stay now know why) There are two positive's......hotel is handy for underground, and the rooms were clean. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Dont book it

Dear Guest,

We apologise for your negative experience at Abbey Court Hotel. The hotel is a listed Victorian building, which makes our rooms to be of non-standard sizes.
As no rooms in the hotel are fitted with AC, offering fans is the only solution the staff have in order to adequately resolve the ‘stuffyness’ issue.
The luggage room facility, which Abbey Court Hotel offers, puts the Hotel in no responsible position for the luggage. The terms and conditions are written on the actual door.
Guest are free to use the room, but this is at their own risk, we simply offer the room, which is locked at all times. If the guests are concerned about the safety of their luggage,
we do recommend using Paddington Station’s luggage storing facility, for which they will have to pay for. Finally, full payment is always taken upfront once the booking is made, to secure the room for the stay.
If the full payment is not acquired within the booking date for any particular reason, the balance will have to be cleared upon arrival/check-in.
It’s our standard policy. This also allows for a smoother check-out for the guest, providing a better service. Once again, Abbey Court Hotel apologises for your experience.
Please do not hesistate to contact us regarding any additional information you may require.

Regards,

Abbey Court Hotel

The main benefit is being only two blocks from Paddington Station for the Heathrow Express, and the room and ensuite were clean. Neighborhood not great, but never felt unsafe. Underground lines from Paddington not all that convenient to tourist destinations without one or more transfers. I stay at a lot of budget hotels in London and elsewhere, but the room, especially the ensuite, was incredibly small and difficult to maneuver. Extremely hot room on fourth floor, but fortunately I could open the window. Internet connection spotty - but at least they give you the first 15 minutes free. Elevator out of order one evening, but desk clerk was helpful in showing me an alternative elevator to other section of hotel's top floor and a route to get to my section. As a matter of principle, I really don't like having to leave my room key at the front desk when I'm out, but they do verify your identity at desk before giving you your key back. I did not eat breakfast buffet there, since there's several good choices just around the corner.
