The most relevant feature of this hotel is its location. From the hotel there is a 5 minute walk to Paddington train station with Heathrow Connect/Express to the airport and 2 tube stations, plus another station (Lancaster Gate) at the same distance. Close to Hyde Park and Kesington Gardens and served by many bus lines.
Front desk staff, particularly Mr. Ulmesh, was very friendly, helpful and polite. He also speaks Spanish. The hotel has a lift but part of it is not suitable for handicap people since you need to jump through the stairs to reach rooms in the roof and other half of the building.
Room and bathroom very clean. The bathroom was adequate in size and was apparently renovated recently.
Wi Fi is slow, works intermittently and apparently does not cover all the building. You cannot rely in this service if you need it for work or communications.
The double room we had (402) was tiny. Space from bed to one wall was about 25 cm and to the other about 40 cm. It was difficult for two persons to walk around simultaneously. Floor was sloping. It was difficult to open 2 bags at the same time and there was no place for the bags. In the entrance there is a small closet with no doors but it was difficult to walk in front since in a small space there are 3 doors that cannot be opened simultaneously without jeopardizing your integrity.
Breakfast was served in the basement were more rooms were noted. According to the signs observed it seems that the place can be very crowded at some hours. English breakfast consisting on sausage, fried bacon, fried eggs, bean soup and stewed tomatoes was served. For us this food is very high in saturated fat and chlolesterol. Other choices were limited and were restricted to orange juice from concentrate, one and a half slice of bread per person, mermelade, a choice of two cereals and coffee and milk. There is a large opportunity for improvement regarding breakfast.
Perhaps in London this is a three star hotel according to British standards but in other countries and cities will barely reach or exceed a two star rating.
