The Best

The most relevant feature of this hotel is its location. From the hotel there is a 5 minute walk to Paddington train station with Heathrow Connect/Express to the airport and 2 tube stations, plus another station (Lancaster Gate) at the same distance. Close to Hyde Park and Kesington Gardens and served by many bus lines.

Front desk staff, particularly Mr. Ulmesh, was very friendly, helpful and polite. He also speaks Spanish. The hotel has a lift but part of it is not suitable for handicap people since you need to jump through the stairs to reach rooms in the roof and other half of the building.

Room and bathroom very clean. The bathroom was adequate in size and was apparently renovated recently.

The Worse

Wi Fi is slow, works intermittently and apparently does not cover all the building. You cannot rely in this service if you need it for work or communications.

The Worst

The double room we had (402) was tiny. Space from bed to one wall was about 25 cm and to the other about 40 cm. It was difficult for two persons to walk around simultaneously. Floor was sloping. It was difficult to open 2 bags at the same time and there was no place for the bags. In the entrance there is a small closet with no doors but it was difficult to walk in front since in a small space there are 3 doors that cannot be opened simultaneously without jeopardizing your integrity.

Breakfast was served in the basement were more rooms were noted. According to the signs observed it seems that the place can be very crowded at some hours. English breakfast consisting on sausage, fried bacon, fried eggs, bean soup and stewed tomatoes was served. For us this food is very high in saturated fat and chlolesterol. Other choices were limited and were restricted to orange juice from concentrate, one and a half slice of bread per person, mermelade, a choice of two cereals and coffee and milk. There is a large opportunity for improvement regarding breakfast.

Perhaps in London this is a three star hotel according to British standards but in other countries and cities will barely reach or exceed a two star rating.

The hotel's location is good with easy access on Paddington train & underground station. It is easy to move from one place to another. The hotel room itself is quiet, as we stayed at the ground floor, we can get wifi inside the room! The staff were very courteous. English breakfast served daily buffet style. All in all, it was a good stay!

There really is not much I can say that is good about this hotel from the 'welcome' at the front desk to the room itself. The staff are poor at best and extremely unhelpful. The 'double' room is laughable as there is actually no way you could fit 2 people in there. The whole room smelt of drains which was repulsive. Air conditioning was poor and when I tried to open the window, the sash was so rotten that the pane of glass nearly came out in my hand. Added to this there was a large piece of flatpack furniture leaning against the window making an already dark room even darker!!

When I pointed out all of the issues to the front desk I got a 'sorry we're completely full'.

Neadless to say I will never stay here again!!

Room Tip: Tip - dont stay here especially if they give you a basement room!

Many thanks’Joanna K’ for reviewing our hotel.
I am sorry to read you didn’t enjoy your stay with us. I have to say we are having trouble locating the room where ‘the sash was so rotten that the pane of glass nearly came out in my hand’. What you are describing is a safety issue which most guests would have reported to the front desk immediately. The hotel was only renovated a 2 year ago and that included the refurbishment of the windows.
Some rooms in the hotel are small and this is to be expected of a town house hotel. Again, we cannot find any rooms which smell of drains.
Usually we are happy to move guests to another room if they are dissatisfied with their original room but unfortunately if the hotel is full we can not oblige.
We hope you will consider giving the hotel another try if you are ever in London again.

This is the second time I have stayed here, the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean with modern shower rooms and it is situated close to Hyde park and Oxford st is a 15minute walk away. Paddington Station is two minutes walk away. This hotel is value for money.

Let me go straight to the bad points first: WIFI signal is almost non existent, the room is very cramped, the walkway on the corridor also very narrow, and breakfast is the same every day.
The good points: excellent location, many good halal restaurants nearby, very friendly receptionist, very close to Paddington Station (less than 5 mins walk), nice garden park (Talbot Square) adjacent to the hotel, very clean room (your cleaner deserved an applause for this!), despite the same breakfast every day, it was good actually. Would not hesitate to recommend for budget travellers for this hotel.

Location good, 5 minutes walk from Paddington. Quiet Square.
Room was very small, no chairs, no dressing table, smoke alarm light flashing in eyes all night. Bathroom very small but rooms were kept clean on daily basis.
The reception on arrival not good - receptionist paid all attention to computer - needs to learn to pay attention to people. A welcoming smile and hello would make all the difference.
The breakfast room was like a third rate cafe, cramped, cheap tables and chairs, a mishmash of cutlery, plates too small. One choice of juice, two options of cereal, cooked breakfast dishes very often one was empty so if the bacon was there you had to wait for eggs, when eggs arrived perhaps the sausage had run out. Then you find no knives. Only one choice of toast. Poorly organised.
The worst thing was the staff, the first morning you were left to find out for yourself that it was all self service. The two waitresses just stood at the side. Their knowledge of English may be limited but a smile and 'Good Morning' makes a big difference. One young woman never smiled at all, surly expression. I have to say on our last morning there was an older woman who was much more pleasant.
Management really needs to look at who they are employing.
