“Really in need of an upgrade!”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

The lobby looks like a scene from a really bad 80's show and unfortunately it doesn't get much better from there. The staff are efficient, but uninspired and frankly, a bit bored and the rooms are pokey, outdated, but at least they are quite clean. There must be a bit of a trust issue when it comes to remote controls, as there is a ten pound deposit for one of those. It is returnable at least, but would have been nice to know prior to clambering up two flights of stairs to the room. Beds are barely comfortable and the rooms are overheated, but so is everything else in the UK. Breakfast was awful and the dining room was equally awful. Internet is at a ridiculously exorbitant price of ten pound per day. Forget about that one! The upside is that it is in a great location, right near the tube, pubs and restaurants. There is so much to see and do in London, which is an absolute Godsend, as it is preferable to be in the hotel rooms for as little time as possible.

Room Tip: Don't have high expectations.

Like everything else in London this is quite expensive compared to the quality. But it is a great location and the staff are very friendly. Breakfast was boring but acceptable. Our room and bed was good. Check out time was too early 10.30 am

I really wasn't expecting the Ritz. I was expecting a reasonable amount of space in the bathroom. I was expecting a basic level of hygiene.

The room was small, but not too bad. The bathroom, however, was so small that it was difficult to use the toilet. The shower wasn't just next to the toilet, it was practically on it. If you dropped the toilet paper, there was no way you could bend down to pick it up without banging your head on the door.

The bathroom was flooded every time you had a shower, the toilet sopping too.

The bed sheets rode up, exposing the mattress below (shudder). The pillow was thin. We woke up every morning with sore backs and sore necks.

I didn't eat breakfast in there - I really didn't want to take the chance.

The rooms were cleaned every day, but when the underlying conditions are poor, there's little that the cleaners can do.

The hotel is nice and close to Paddington, and shops/cafes/pubs nearby.

I booked the hotel intending to use it as a base, and not somewhere to spend more time than we had to. However, I can't recommend this hotel even to be used in this way.

The staff, once they'd seen my prepaid voucher, really didn't seem to be concerned with me.

Had pre-booked and paid for 8 nights. Was horrified when we arrived at hotel. Small single beds, filthy room with mould growing on carpet, shower had never been cleaned, it had black and orange mould all over the walls and floor. Hallways full of cigarette smoke (there were no smoking signs, obviously not enforced). Breakfast was the stuff of nightmares, stale green mouldy bread that the breaky girl was putting through the toaster 5 times per slice to try and toast it to cover up. Ham and cheese slices just sitting on the bench, no plates or cooling. After 2 nights we couldn't stand it anymore and checked out. I took photos of everything, when I got home I complained to the travel company who had it in their book as recommended, I did get my money back.

If you have a friend that you hate you can book him a room to this "hotel". This is the WORST hotel i have ever visited. The lamps were broken, the toilet was broken, the sink was missing parts. The room was extremely small and super dirty with dust and mold left right and center. I am wondering if anyone ever cleaned the curtains and the carpet. This hotel is the shame of London. Keep away if you respect yourself.
