if you are under age twenty you may be tolerant of the very, very basic facilities and lack of comforts here. A very old Edwardian building with steep stairs and no elevator make this rather hard work.Toilets seem to be miles away from the room or downstairs and showers rather crudely put together with cracks in the walls floor 3 (male and female cubicles adjacent so can see) Breakfast was served down the road and NOT in this building for some reason.

However, the location near Hyde park is probably the only reason for me to book here.

Room Tip: near Bayswater road and Hyde park

Great location, just in front of Bayswater metro station and other amenities such as supermarkets and fast food restaurants, friendly staff and that´s all the pros i can come up with. Strange people sharing bedrooms, who doens´t have any respect when you are trying to sleep making a lot of noise and leaving the lights on (thus try not to get the top bed otherwise you´ll sleep in a very shining environment), lack of hygiene in the toilets (one of the bathrooms floods when you´re taking a shower) and bad wifi coverage are all the cons. If you´re ok with these, then it is worth the price!

Room Tip: Try not to get top beds so that you won´t be bothered by lights on everytime a person gets in the ro...

I booked the Hyde Park inn for a night out in London with friends for my birthday. The poor reviews had put me off but it worked out at £24 a night each so thought it was worth the risk. I'm sure some of the reviewers expect 4* accommodation for a 1* price tag.

I was really impressed, our dorm was clean and roomy. The staff were friendly and the hostel is really close to the tube. The only downfall was that the toilet was a couple of floors down and there was often a queue however it was clean. There was a sink in our dorm so it was possible to clean your teeth and have a wash without queueing.

I would definitely stay here again for a short stay in London.

The staff are very friendly and the hostel itself is ok, the rooms are clean but cramped. The lockers are a good idea but you have to hire them for a daily fee, which also applies to the safes at reception. The free wifi is free for an hour then you have to pay. A security deposit is asked for which was not mentioned at time of booking, to be honest that's ok but warning would be nice as they wanted cash...
The corridors are always full with new laundry which makes passing difficult. The eating areas are small especially if you are in a group and you want to eat at the same time as another group.
The private rooms are nice and the ensuites are new and clean but you have to climb a mountain to get there....it's secure and access to public transport is easy...

All in all it is an ok hostel, nothing to really dislike or rave about!

Room Tip: Go for the private rooms with ensuites as there are showers and toilets but they are all over the pl...

Very busy when we arrived - took about 1½ hour to check in. I truly hope that they will upgrade their IT system soon :-) Didn't meet any homeless people only lovely staff - who even corrected our booking as hostelbookers.com lied about the room being "female only" I saw a cleaner every day and she actually did clean :-) I did use slippers when bathing - but that should be commen sense booking at a hostel. Rooms are small but I was only there dropping of shopping goods and to change for nights out and last but not least - sleeping :-) They do have som problems with toilets but staff was always happy to help. I couldn't expect more from a hostel. Didn't try their breakfast as I had english breakfast at cafe aphrodite!
TIPS: bring slippers, have an extra plasticbag for your clothes when bathing (there are hangers in the bathing area so the bag won't have to stand on the floor), have a bottle of desinfection gel.

Room Tip: spend £1,50 each day on a locker under the beds.

I would of rathered stayed on the streets in london than this hostel...their was no windows in our room and there was 10 other people sleeping in the room...all of the people in our room werent tourists they were homeless people living there. I am not a fussy person at all i would sleep anywhere but my god this was worse than a prison. The smell was disgusting. It was like an old run down convent. STAYYYYY AWAYYYYYYYYYYYY

God, this place is disgusting. the toilets were never cleaned and never Able to be flushed. rubbish was on the floors in bathrooms for the whole week I was there. The showers are ridiculous with no place to dress. The staff (except the LOvely Aussie girl) are really unfriendly and don't speak good English. The cleaners are appalling! The beds are so uncomfortable and if youre tall, then you will be squished up in your little boxed in bed. Spend a little bit more and get somewhere decent. Only good things are free b/fast and internet. This place needs help.
