“Shocking Customer Care”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

Booked room online through visa , arrived from Glasgow late on around 11.30pm was told to pay again , which i refused to do ,after alerting the reception (staff) i only had fare back to Glasgow next day , I was told I would not get access to room , I asked if we could sort things out in morning and was told no. They already had card details so could take payment at any time . I asked them to contact police which they did ...only...police came and saw in my favour . Hostel STILL would not accomodate me , leaving me to walk the streets until 4am when train station opened where I returned to Stansted Airport awiting return flight home at 12.45 pm next day.....!!!!!!!!
Worst place ever ...Check out their reviews before booking...PLENTY of unhappy cusomers

My sister and I were looking to book a hotel in Londen and found that most hotels were very expensive, when we looked at the pictures from other travelers we also found that they weren't very clean either. On another booking website we found this hostel, and it got the best rating of all hotels we viewed earlier.

The location of this hostel is great, it's 2 streets from the London Tube. The room itself was basic, but the bed was comfortable and it was very clean. We had to share the showers but they were cleaned on a daily basis so we had absolutely nothing to complain about. I would definitely recommend this hostel, and definitely because we were only there to sleep and take a shower.

We arrived half an hour before check in and thought that we may be able to leave luggage or check in early however we were rudely told to go away and come back in half an hour.

When we returned, the staff were not any more polite, very rude and made it obvious that they did not want to be there. We were given our keys and given vague directions to our room.

Our friend's room was ready, however when me and my partner arrived at our room, it was still being cleaned and we were told to come back later.

When we finally got in our room, it was very basic which is understandable for the price, however it did not feel clean and there was a hole in the floor under the window.

We were disturbed very early in the morning by the cleaning staff as well as banging doors continuously throughout the night. The bed was very uncomfortable and made rattling noises every time you moved.

I would not recommend this place. The place is cheap but after staying here, I would rather pay extra and stay else where. The only good point was that it was close to the tube station and easily accessible to get into central London. I would avoid!!!

This is the first review I have ever written, and this is because I feel that it would be unfair not to share the bad experience we had. When we checked in the room (on floor 3) looked reasonable. We went out and returned to our room at around midnight. As we turned the light on we saw cockroaches flittering away from it. We approached staff at reception who at first tried to say that we were liars, and that there were no cockroaches. We asked them to come up and showed them one that was still hiding in a corner. They then informed us that the hotel was fully booked and that we couldn't change rooms. They sprayed the cockroach with a poison spray thing and left it in our room to slowly die. We weren't happy to stay in the room but we didn't have choice as we had nowhere else to go. We resorted to searching the bed, which had lots of little black spots on it, but no cockroaches. Also need to mention that when we went to the toilet there were dead cockroaches lying on the side there too. We also spoke to a lady who was working there but off duty. She told us that she had gotten used to the cockroaches, and that she had them in her room too. We eventually tried to get rid of the black spots in our bed as best as we could and eventually tried to get some sleep. It doesn't need saying that we didn't sleep very well. It wasn't just the cockroaches, it was also the fact that there was absolutely no soundproofing, and you could constantly hear doors slamming, every time someone on our floor went in and out of their room, to the bathroom etc. Not the hotel's fault admittedly, but traffic noises were also very loud in our room, but we had to keep the window open as there was no ventilation and it was a hot and stuffy night.

The next day we approached reception again, telling them about the cockroaches and asking to change rooms. Again staff were less than helpful, saying that there were no cockroaches and basically saying that we must be making it up. Only when we told them that the night staff had seen the cockroaches, and that we had pictures on our phone, did they begrudgingly find us another room on a different level. We never say any cockroaches in this room and checked out with no problems the next day.

I uploaded some photos, showing the state of the room, and the dead cockroach (there were more, but the others escaped...)

We had a private room for 5 nights. It was clean and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. The room was small and a bit hot in the summer. Friendly helpful staff and clean laundry area. We had a nice little fridge and crockery and cutlery in the room, which was very convenient. Very close to the tube and bus station.
