We have stayed here on several occasions but this was my first trip in around 18 months.
We had a King Suite which was spacious and well equipped - a little tired around the edges but acceptable for the price paid. However my gripe was with the very poor bedding. The bed was of the 'bouncy' variety which I do not like but put up with, but the duvet was so lumpy there were portions with no filling at all. It was also so small it did not quite reach the edges of the bed.
The pillows were even worse - they were so long past their useful life that after around 5 minutes of use your head was on the mattress and the filling was around your ears.
In addition to a rough nights sleep the hotels bar and the Cricket Club restaurant were closed throughout our stay - a hotel in London (fairly busy) with no bar? Apparently closed for several days. You could buy drinks in the Italian restaurant but this is hardly acceptable. The Blackfriar pub over the road was the only option which whilst having a great ambience tends to be packed to the rafters with no place to sit.
So overall we were glad to be leaving. It used to be a good hotel in a good location with reasonable rates for London, but the most important factor is surely a decent nights sleep. On checkout when I mentioned this my comments were greeted with indifference and so next time I may look elsewhere.
