This hotel is one of them that makes you feel so welcome you know you want to come back even before you leave, the staff are fantastic and very welcoming, I took my 4 year old with me this time and was happy to see they cater for children with a great dinosaur pack

Overall impression too few staff. We generally love Crowne Plaza hotels and have stayed in them around the world. on arrival our book in was slowed by too few staff available for check in and the booking which had been confirmed was not in the system. Not sure whose problem that was (agent or hotel). However we had a nice room and the problem resolved by the staff. One of the 3 lifts was out of use and the other 2 very slow and not adequate for the number of users - necessitating several minutes wait in a very hot and stuffy landing. The table on the landing was very dusty (someone had written 'clean me' in the dust).
Arriving back from a day out at 4pm our room was being serviced so had to go and wait in the lounge. Waiter in lounge very good - offered drink of water and a chat. The main issue for us was the dining room - too few and inexperienced (or untrained) staff. Long queues for seating for breakfast whilst staff tried to clear tables and keep the food etc topped up. Staff were very much under pressure and admirably kept their cool but the focus was not on the customers - not a good impression for visitors. The butter I asked for never arrived and customers helping themselves to cutlery, jams etc from neighbouring tables.

Dear Lynda,

Thank you for your review and provide us with valuable feedback. Our aim for every guest is to ensure they feel welcomed, looked after and leave with a great impression. On this occasion, we have not met our usual high standard of service and for that we apologise. We have shared your comments with the teams and we will be looking into where we can improve the arrival and breakfast experience.

You mentioned our lifts, which are currently undergoing improvements to increase the speed and efficiency. We thank you for your patience whilst these updates are under way. We hope that you will choose our hotel for a future stay and give us the opportunity to showcase our normally efficient and highly attentive service.

I have stayed at this hotel for both business & leisure and each time, it has been fantastic. From the service at Reception, to the friendly staff, to the well-appointed rooms. I recently took my best friend for a weekend away for a special birthday & the gentleman on Reception asked the reason for our stay. When we got back to the room after an afternoon out, there was a plate of chocolates & a note for my friend, wishing her a happy birthday - very nice, personal touch.
Voltaire is a quirky & fabulous bar to enjoy cocktails with friends, with the benefit of being able to play your own music in the vaults.
Love this hotel & will return very soon!

This hotel is ideally located opposite Blackfriars Underground, so after a longish journey we only had to walk over the road. On arrival our room wasn't ready, so we sat in the very stylish and lounge bar and had complimentary drinks. Our room was immaculately clean and the beds were extremely comfortable, the air conditioning was a god send as it was extremely hot, so it made for a very good nights sleep. The concierge were extremely helpful and friendly, nothing was to much trouble, they were extremely efficient. When we had originally booked the hotel there was an option to add breakfast for £22.50 we had declined, but on arrival we were offered the same breakfast for £14.00, The Hotel has wifi, but its not free, its charged at £5.00 per hour. We had also chosen this hotel as we were on a theatre break and it was advertised as a five minute walk to the theatre, unfortunately this was not the case it took us 20 mins. overall we enjoyed our stay, just watch out for the extra charges.

My husband had a week long conference at the Crowne so we had little choice but to stay there! We were booked into a standard room but our flight from the US meant we arrived mid morning and the only room available for check in at that time was an 'Executive Suite' at a much greater cost but we were so tired we agreed to it for one night then were to change. However, one look at the Suite and we realised we'd have to stay the entire week as we couldn't imagine what a standard room was like! The size was okay but everything seemed old and tired. We looked directly into offices over the road so every time I pulled the curtains ppl were staring back at me! It was far too hot in the room but we were unable to change the temperature. The Suite included breakfast in the Club Bar - the smallest choice I've ever encountered! However, the location near St Pauls was a nice change from where we usually stay and the Blackfriars tube is right over the road.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here - pay extra for the Executive Suite!

This hotel is one of the nicest I've stayed in. It's modern, clean and comfortable. The staff are lovely and couldn't do enough for us.

It was a bit of a walk to the likes of the London Eye and Big Ben but we didn't mind as we were able to nip in here and there to have a bite to eat and a drink. Ended up getting to see more of the city that way.

I will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located adjacent to the Blackfriar underground and the Blackfriar pub. We were there for eight days and had a fabulous time ......the Chinese restaurant here is excellent, the bars are a nice addition within the hotel and the staff is wonderful! Best of all the rooms and the beds are very comfortable and we had a great stay! I recommend it highly. It is located in the financial district.
